River Dave, you need to take your SxS from Prescott to Crown King via Senator's highway. You'll even see the old Palace Station on the way there.
Yup! Flew through the window of Marino's.I believe that's the park where "Billy Jack" kicked all the asses!

Been going to Havasu since the early 80's. I get it.That's what Havasu felt like to me 20 yrs ago.
I missed this but it looks like Dave already got the DL.
We were up there last year hanging out for a hike and picnic. That summer camp was loaded with kayaks. Looks like a fun place for kids.Well we went to Goldwater lake.. pretty cool spot!
Then we kept driving farther away and found something called a “fuel break” basically a kinda fire road deal.. went a few miles out and let the dog run around and just be in nature etc..
Cabin is on the way back to town so we stopped and are leaving the dog.. gonna hit the mall maybe? Get an oil change.. mainly not sweat my balls off in havasu lol

The "mall" is really sad. When Sears folded, it was already headed down hill. Just before covid I believe, one of the local developers bought the whole thing for about 5 mil. (He's a local car guy, into weird cars.) Well, in the midst of covid, and people flush with money, he sold it for around 10 mil! I don't see any changes going on there though, still a creepy ghost town.If we ever had to live in a town again, Prescott would be it. We spend a lot of time there for biz stuff, butcher, feed, buying steers etc. Skip the mall, it's surprisingly depressing with half the stores closed.
From here, Payson is about a 2.5 hour drive. It's probably the next set of mountains east of us. I think it may be closer to drive from Phoenix than from here. Not really close, but kind of relative to where you left from.Looks like a nice spot to beat the heat, what’s the temp like? I went to Payson once for a week with my friend to visit his mom during the summer, maybe 5th grade or so. We went tubing down this river several days, fishing etc… it was a cool spot but no idea where. Hell I didn’t even realize Payson was near Prescott until someone pointed it out in this thread![]()

We did a run just before it got too hot. Left from WHW, drove up & back. I drove from my house at LPP & Happy Valley. All the way, up and back, no fuel required. (2015 XP4) stock. 88 miles total.Would be cool to do a fall Lake pleasant to Crown Kind run. I'd love to ride shotgun with someone. Done it on a 450 quad years ago. It's a work out.
Santas Village.... Yep. Grandparents has a place at Lake arrowhead. Felt like forever to get there from Torrance...From here, Payson is about a 2.5 hour drive. As a kid, traveling from Covina to Santa's Village felt like an odyssey, and river trips took daysYears later, I worked in LA, and lived in Alta Loma...45 mile commute everyday, minimum.

That would be cool. We took a trail from Baghdad AZ to Prescott, it was awesome. You come into Williamson valley by Las Vegas Ranch sub division, north of Talking Rock. Super cool ride. The bottom pic is snow in Flagstaff.Stacy was saying we should take a sxs from havasu to Prescott..
We started to head back and we were going to hit the Olive Garden but saw “Mi Tierra” Mexican food and decided to stop.. amazing food that is on par with most California Mexican.
We are really liking this town!

You need to open an office there.
It has been discussed already. I really really like it here. Slow pace / friendly people / small town.
I personally can’t leave havasu though.. I have way too much invested to leave.

It was definitely a good time. We went door to door from our house (Asante/ Vistancia) and it was 130 miles round trip for us. Had to get a splash of fuel at CK. They had fuel, but only 87.We did a run just before it got too hot. Left from WHW, drove up & back. I drove from my house at LPP & Happy Valley. All the way, up and back, no fuel required. Its gotten pretty bad in a few places. Gotta pay attention. Had one of our group require some straps to keep on all 4.

Both were in our group, I think both would be up for another run, as would I.
Probably need to get your pilots license then?![]()
I still have my Craftsman chain saw I bought from there. I love malls and that one and Flagstaff mall are depressing to see now. I just saw they are knocking down the Fiesta mall in Mesa. Went there eons ago.The "mall" is really sad. When Sears folded, it was already headed down hill. Just before covid I believe, one of the local developers bought the whole thing for about 5 mil. This just happened in Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend. The pilot had a medical emergency and a woman had to land the plane.Stacy asked me to do jist that.. lol. I’m not sure I’m the pilot type. I’m more the passenger type in that scenario. Lol
Strangely though I’ve flown enough that I can land a plane if the pilot passes out for some reason..![]()
That's what we love about Alpine . But Alpine is way smaller than Prescott . We have only 3 restaraunts and one is only open for breakfast and lunch . A small mom and pop grocery store . And a place called the Tackle Shop . They have all kinds of fishing and camping stuff and bare necessities of food . They are also the only place to get fuel . You have to drive 25min away to Eager/Springerville to get stuff . They have all major grocery stores and things like Napa , Ace hardware etc, etc .It has been discussed already. I really really like it here. Slow pace / friendly people / small town.

No Alpine Az. It's in the Tonto national Forrest about 10 miles west of the Az , NM border . Pretty much straight east of prescott and a little south .Alpine California? I have only driven through it.. some casinos up there right?
That place is really good!We stopped at this “Colt Grill” for a snack.. nachos with chicken were amazing! We sampled all their sauces.. they have a ton of sauces.. whatever the gold one was is my fav..

That place and big daddy E's (aka up in smoke) are my favorite bbqs in the area. But colt doesn't disappoint. Do you know if they have opened back up? They were doing some renovations or something but the shop looks like its been closed for a while now. His smokers are all there still but they haven't been smoking. If you like good brisket try Lucky's BBQ in Mayer. You won't regret it. Small family owned/operated restaurant. The proprietor is Frank and his wife America. Good people. I miss it badly..
Pretty sure its not. Either way, I would have screamed too.At first I was thinking harmless.. but upon closer inspection I’m not entirely sure?
Either way I guided Stacy back and we ran it over with the car because we didn’t have any tools to deal with it.
What say you? Poisonous? Or?
I think he is poisonous.. View attachment 1255071
