The biggest culprit is legacy costs. The Japanese do not have those. The big 3 if you will, are paying retirees pensions and benefits almost from from before the Japanese started offering vehicles here. Salaried is now exclusively 401K. That started around 2000.Ford said it. It was actually 900.
