That's what baffles me. The guy driving the slower boat with self admitted loud (illegal) exhaust was breaking the law. The guy in the overcoming Boat illegally passed the slower boat. So in this scenario of you really broke down what happened there were laws broken on both sides of the fence. Then there's people campaigning for more laws, without seeing how ridiculous it is that nobody was paying attention to the laws that are already in existence in the first place. Even the guy that was "in the right" was doing wrong. Lol.

Nothing illegal on my boat. How can some people be so confident yet be so stupid. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji14][emoji107][emoji15][emoji30][emoji90][emoji108]

Really? Why do you need to go 100? Why do you need to go 70? 50? 35?. Where would that end? We know, at 35 where all the Cali lakes are limited to.

Why do you need to sit in the back seat of a ghost Hallett doin 75?

These questions are dangerous and lead to over regulation.

cause I can and the lake had no one on it and 500 miles of shore line... so there:p

.

Hearing was not an option, my Miller is loud as hell.

So your post about your boat being "Loud as hell" doesn't violate ANY existing noise laws?

YOU were the one who posted how loud your boat was not me. So if you want to call me stupid maybe you should remember what YOU wrote. No need to attack me because you admitted to breaking the law with your "loud as hell" boat.

Now if you want to talk confidence.....fuck yah I am, but then again you also don't see me posting on here how I let a boat get so close to me that it sprayed my child and wife. I make the assumption that EVERY other vessel on the water will do the wrong thing so I keep my head on a swivel and am aware of my surroundings and other traffic out on then water. If I feel a boat is going to get too close and or maybe put me and my family or passengers in an unsafe position I will change my course or make maneuvers that will ensure the safety of the people in my boat....ultimately as the person driving the boat that should be Your #1 priority.

Since you decided to call me out for being stupid. Heres my $.02.

You are Just as much to blame for this incident as the other boat. Although he might have been speeding and might have cut too close to you (we are only getting your side of the story here). You were not aware of the other traffic on the lake and you were not driving defensively in order to ensure the safety of your passengers. You stated that you were complacent due to it being Monday and you assumed everyone had gone home from the holiday. At the end of the day even if you were 100% in the right.....you were still wrong as your wife and child got sprayed by a boat that passed you. The same boat that you either didn't see coming or you didn't give yourself "an out" in the event something went wrong.

Talk shit on me all you want but at the end of the day you don't see my posting stories Like this [emoji6]

The Cheetah has to slow down because the bimini just blew off

It was a trick question Brian. In reality the Cheetah never made it anywhere close to 100. :D

Which part was wrong? One thing about this "opinionated fool" is I'm not afraid to admit when in wrong. Everything i posted was based on YOUR posts in THIS thread. Basically the way I see it is, you posted something. Differing opinions came out and instead of being able to discuss like an adult you resulted to name calling (chicken shit move btw). Then when you get called on the inconsistencies in your posts it's now a "waste of time". Who's really the fool here?? [emoji23][emoji23]

I would just push the button on my Schiada extend the wings and fly over to the casino.. if we are talking fairy tales wth cheetahs running a 100, then I'm gonna chitty chitty bang bang my way to winning some more $$..

That said to answer the General jist of your post there isn't enough information there to answer your question. for general practice and to give you some answer I would say the person traveling (in my case me) across the lake instead of up or down the lake would give way.. without knowing the location of the cheetah in relevance to the Schiada it is impossible to know if it's passing port or starboard or who is stand on etc..

Hope that helps..
If the Cheetah is heading north to south and Dave is heading east to west, I'm thinking that puts the Cheetah on Dave's right and makes it the stand on vessel.

What is it you propose that is not currently an existing law/regulation that will without a doubt make the water ways safer? I know where I stand on the viewpoint of more or less government involvement in our lives. I do always like hearing from a person with an opposing point of view explain their position in order to be able to look at something from both sides of the street.

Mandatory boater education would be a great start. Arizona is one of a handful of states that does not already have a boater education requirement.

and with accident stats and fatalities down across the board.. I am curious as to what supports the idea of intervention?

Oh, how about the PWCs you stated a few pages back are running up river left every time you go out? Or the general confusion over which boat is the stand on vessel in a given situation? Or the belief that "reasonable and prudent" means "no speed limit"?

I believe I said the masses stay to the right with a few that are on the left.. when I do see them the PWC's are a larger %..

I don't know anyone that thinks reasonable and prudent means no speed limit, but if they can't understand English it pretty much reinforces why we need Trump in 2016..

forgive me I have been living the healthy life for two days and fell off the wagon tonight so my sarcasm is probably dry right now. lol. it was meant to be funny but serious.. but kinda funny

I'm not campaigning for more laws. I'm just saying that because of the education issue 2ff has stated several times we will eventually see more laws. As a community we should take care of it ourselves before that happens. What should have been done was what save suggested on page one. Call tony and have him talk to the owner. That's pretty much all that needed to happen. There should be a mandatory class for new owners. We had a little walk through of the boat when I took delivery but a class would have been much better. I had boated before buying the cobra but a lot of new owners haven't. We should regulate ourselves before the government steps in that's what I'm saying. Same goes for drinking and driving. If we would cut the shit they wouldn't need to enforce the hell out of the water ways [emoji4]

Mandatory drivers licenses for autos still allows shitty drivers to hit the road with a car. I'm not against it, but what I am against is the give an inch take a mile mentality of our government. It's unfortunate

I'll give you that one. Yesterday a lady in hers Benz suv hit the wall trying to go down a level (it is tight, Beverly Hilton). After she hits the wall she throws in into reverse and slams into the Saturn [emoji23][emoji16]. She's probably been driving longer than I've been breathing [emoji4]

Sure, but how much worse would it be if we handed every 16 year old a set of keys and said "Go figure it out for yourself, and by the way there are no speed limits, drive on whichever side of the road you like, and no open container laws. Just use common sense and it's all good." No public policy is ever guaranteed to achieve a perfect outcome, just like it's rare that any new medicine is 100% effective. The goal is to achieve a benefit which outweighs the cost. In this example the benefit is to get rid of most of the idiots running river left, and the cost is a couple hours of everybody's time.

So why not just enforce the current laws on the books. In every case of an "incident" I can think of a situation where an existing law was broken. In regards to boater, licensing, etc. I'm not against it. I'm against more and more laws when the ones already on the books aren't enforced.

I would love to see how relying on common sense would work on the roadways. Lol. Common sense isn't so common.

It's the absolute lack of common sense that is the problem. We have plenty of laws on the roadway yet we still have tons of fatalities and accidents and people that drive like shit.

your freek'n kidding right??? I didn't even get in this thread till after 5 pages...

but do you really think that old man 2ff has that much power and control...when he speaks everybody listens ??? lmao... yeah It's 2ff's fault cause he went on line and said people should know how to proper navigate in crowded water ways/..

but as said... they will close down the river...and I'll get the blame for that also I guess.....but being that I am observant of my surroundings while boating I did notice this, the topoc wakeless keeps slowly growing,.. so does devils elbow.... in fact devils elbow is twice as big,... so is topoc's and did anyone else???

something is gonna happen

the reason for topoc and devils wakeless was caused by what we are discussing here right now.... old timers run that water for years no problem...majority of boats ran around 30 ,still had hot boats that went 100... but the big difference was they had respect for their boats ...they worked their ass off, saved and built it...they didn't get it by tugging mommys apron string and throwing a tantrum...if fact most real hot boaters wouldn't even go out on busy weekends..

so now comes the new golden spooners...., they were allow to run their mouths and be disrespectfull,,, parents rewarded the bad behavure with a new car when they turned 16

bailed them out of any trouble they..why ... because deep inside, they feel quilty that their kids were raised by child care..they grew up do fast,,, their life with their kids was spent dropping them off and picking them up..

so it's ok.... blame me for the world problems...

but I will say this.. and I've said it here before...do with out the 500k boat and raise your kids.. have a least one blood parent with them at all times...give up the lifted truck and havasu home...raise...your family

don't put so much enfesiss..on property...and have to have the best and fastest,,.. raise your kids to respect them selves, other people, to be polite,

So that still requires a new law, right? It's all well and good to say that if everybody followed the nav rules perfectly there would be no accidents; the problem is how few people seem to know and scrupulously follow those rules. And we have 2-3 million visitors each summer on this stretch of river with maybe a 15 cops to enforce and educate all of them. Mohave County said in newspaper they wrote about fifteen tickets this weekend. You think that is because there were only fifteen violations out there or do they pick and chose and only go after the most egregious stuff? I can say that I personally need to send out 13 tickets today for folks going at full plane through wakeless areas (yep, lots of PWCs and probably quite a few rentals). But how many violations do you suppose are ever written for a "reasonable and prudent" violation? I've written one in five seasons here because it is mushy, unenforceable language. I'd rather have well-written, intelligent laws based on measurable standards and repeal some of the dross. If I see a boat doing 150 down the river on Labor Day I'd like to be able to deal with that situation now, because I don't have the ability to follow him around until he blasts past a pontoon boat at 10' or rips though a group of boats in a blind corner.

If you ever see my boat on camera I want a warning [emoji12] I went through the topock no wake like 4x I think. 3 of those times there were two patrol boats in the area calling people over to talk to them. I saw a lot of people going pretty fast through there of course two boats couldn't get them all though.

It's just frustrating how people can blame the guy going straight at 35 mph. Saying I should of done this, or I should of done that. The guy was covering over 2 miles a minute. On a river with bends. You would almost have to drive forward while looking behind to see him, that's not safe. I look hard left and right continuously. I look behind me quite often, but when a mile every 30 seconds is being covered on a river with bends, it's not hard to not see him coming.

heres what I think... I think it sucks that I have to go to a wakeless speed on the river...and it's all because of the few disrectfull, un educated law brakers..

give me back my abilty to use good judgement and common sense, and take the boat away from those that don't...

sure ...I get poked at for buy'n my wife a cheetah,,, and poked even more for saying that it was a mistake for building it with a 525...

and even more so that I sudjested that there be a way that you could deune or swith to valet mode so the if some one does get in the boat uneducated they don't kill theirself...

like the guy that lives with the memory of his buddy's getting killed at havasu,, he was in the room when they took his cheetah out.....cheetahs are fast hi power boats and shold be driv'n as such...

like I said... how much reaction can you really have in 1/2 a second...

I look behind me quite often, but when a mile every 30 seconds is being covered on a river with bends, it's not hard to not see him coming.

again... it goes right back to laws already on the books..you must yield to slower traffic, you must operate at a speed to avoid contact with the boat you are passing, and you are responsible for your wake..

practicing good boating habbits is good for all...you don't have to do anything driving down the river but drive in a predictable manner..

boating at havasu is kinda like skating in a roller rink... if you are passing every body...probley going too fast for the situation...ol turbo with his high dollar quads on skate stepping the whole rink thinks everybody is looking at him wishing they were "LUCKY ENOUGH" to have skates like that...when really everybody is say'n look at this ass hole , somebody needs to slow him down:cool
