Was planning on pulling poptarts little boat out for the season on Saturday.
Mother nature had other plans.
The water level on the stretch of river that she lives on varies wildly. When we get a decent amount of rain it can go up 4 to 5 ft trapping the boat on the lift and possibly crushing the windshield underneath the canopy. 2.3" of rain yesterday and last night.

I drove up here last night, and we pulled it out this morning. I still have to winterize it, but at least it's put in the barn.

Pretty much. The wolf river has been under an emergency s-n-w order for over a week. The pulled the cork at menasha last week too. With lake Michigan as high as it is, itll take a while for it to drain off..

Rounded out my recovery trip, got home about 9:30 last night in the rain. Was going to back the trailer into my mom’s garage until my Uncle said his 8’ snowplow just fits in the door to backblade when he’s plowing her yard. We pulled into a gas station and measured the trailer and determined 102>96. Just parked it in my yard and grabbed a tarp and bungees to cover the unit, unhooked, went inside, had a beer and went to bed.

Pretty thankful the biggest thing that happened on the trip was a dust cap came off a hub on the last leg of the trip. 2000 miles in 32 hours, 10 fuel stops.

Put a light fixture up to see if it would be bright enough.
It's just temporary till I get a ceiling, and finish the rest off, but It'll be handy to have a bit more light in the new shop.

100 bucks a throw from menards.

Itll take 4 for sure, 6 would be perfect.

Felt like framing a little bit this afternoon.
Ran back over to menards and grabbed a few 2x6's. It'd be pretty nice to finish off my little shop before snowballs start hitting me in the ass.

I finished 2 sections tonight.

I planned on doing white steel on the ceiling, osb on the walls. The ceiling is framed out for steel, but if I added the rest of the framing, and sheathed it with osb, I'd have to paint...

It's like 250 bucks more expensive to do the steel.

The light fixtures could be easily recessed into osb also....

It'd be a bit more putzing around, but the added clearance may someday come in handy. Who knows.

I built the table a few years ago to build @HydroSkreamin transom. I always wanted to make one, it was a good excuse.

Its 2 sheets of 3/4" birch plywood, with a 1'grid of more 3/4" plywood on edge, kinda like a hollow core door. Some cheese grade angle iron for a little framework to hold the 2" pipe legs and 4 horrible freight 4" castors. Glued it all together, and its solid and flat. I think me and johnny built it 3 years ago?

Doubtful that I'll foam it. As small of building as it is, it's hard to justify the expense vs the energy savings. If it was attached to my house, without a doubt.
For a stand alone building that I'll keep at 50ish degrees, I cant see the savings coming back before a 20 year time frame.

Shop is 24x36. Exactly half of the old shop. This one is 2'6" taller, and the door is 16 wide and 11'6 high.

I trust your math and it makes me glad I haven't spent any time trying to over insulate my tiny garage on kill. Appreciate the confidence. :D

Oh, there's great satisfaction in heating a building with a bic lighter. Hell, my deerstand is sprayfoamed... :D

It was different when I owned the rig.

Tore down the temp wood from the Oklahoma car trailer project first thing this morning. Did front brakes on poptarts little car, and finished framing the back wall of the shop.

Plan is to have that osb nailed to the wall before the end of the day. I just ran and grabbed some outlet boxes and enough fiberglass for that wall.

Why horizontal on the framing?
Because post framed buildings aren't meant to be heated.

They were originally designed to keep farm implements out of the weather.

I'm running 2x6 horizontally because it's the short dimension.

Pre-cut 8' and 9' studs work in between the posts. Less waste, less expensive than buying 14's and cutting a foot and half off to throw away.

As long as I get 2' centers in any direction, 4x8 sheets work out.

That's a 8' stepladder for scale..

All 3 lakes within a mile of each other.

35° here this morning. Three more days in the 60°s, then I believe shorts weather has come to an end here in Wisco.

Have a great day boys!

And a Wednesday morning BAMM!

I’m feeling the need for a sun-up rip.

Actually, I’m going over to Hula Waters to do a little filming of the bottom of the boat while we have calm water. Triple digit ride in 40° temperature should wake me up, and set my hair nicely!:D
