I talked to a friend of mine from just south of the Springfield, IL area a couple days ago. He is usually finishing up with his planting about the time I start. Right now, He hasn't even started, hoping to go Saturday if no more rain, but forecast has a lot of rain for Friday - Sunday. He said his neighbor, a 90,000+ acre guy had 1600 total planted. Not a good situation. I fully expect a shift to beans soon, but history says corn will get planted, but the real question is what is happening to yield potential? Honestly, this is the scenario we need to get prices back to a positive profit level, but at what cost? Pray for the American Farmer! So we went from winter to summer in 5 days time. Missed spring entirely this year.
Farmers down here haven't planted anything yet, I've heard it'll be a lot if soy beans this year instead of corn due to the weather.
