Unfortunately that is the truth these days. Wasn’t that way when I was growing up.

Of course my original post is specific to football rivalry. Everyone loved to hate the cowboys.
well...the Cowboys we can agree on.

49er and Vikings fans incoming!

;)

Well......after much craziness and adjustments the time has come....until tomorrow changes the plan again...lol

Heading to Texas Wed and hopefully finding the new place to live.....Still want the hill country but may have to look a little NW from there due to prices but hopefully not all the way into Abilene territory.

The good news is some of the properties I have had an eye on have dropped in price a bit. When I get out there it will be a daily search to find something that works I have allowed myself two months of looking. If it doesn't work then it may be onto TN, ID or SD

Wish me luck :)

Good luck with your travels and search. Always enjoyed your posts on travels. Going to take the Moho and go to Kentucky to see step son and his wife and hope the Mrs can deal with the travel as the cancer keeps on keeping on. At least with the Moho she can lay on the couch when she gets tired. Taking 2 grandkids with us to see their Dad so this should be a fun trip but…..

Price sounds pretty good and I am sure you will enjoy the stay. The place I stay at in the Hill country TX is a very small place with 12 spaces. Clean, quiet and closeby to anything I need. This may be the last year I will be staying there though. I have given myself two months to find a new home....nothing like being on a shot clock while making a big decision on where to live and what to buy....lol Hope the clock doesn't expire :)

I really liked the hill country last time through there before wife got sick. I have a friend that just moved outside Corpus Christy and he is loving it. I'm thinking of maybe a tour out that way to do some fishing when this life journey we are on is over, but only plans now are to help her enjoy what time is left. hopefully going to do some fishing on Cumberland when we get there. Wife wants to tour some of the civil war battle places they have around there and might even do a bourbon tasting tour.

Good thing is if she isn't feeling like being on the road for a day or so you can find a place to stay until she feels better.

I decided that its time to get off the road, pay cash for a property with 2+acres (as big as budget allows), well, septic, etc. Going to grow some basic food staples along with raising chix for eggs. Going to ramp up the dogs from 1 to 2/3 and fence the property. After that.....just wait till I can see the whites of their eyes :)

It is 95% going to happen in Texas.

Now.....time to wrap up some stuff and start shopping. Will probably sell the trailer and keep the dually.

Change is good peeps.....embrace it :)
Congrats Tom - hope our paths cross in the future!

Welcome! Hill Country all the way. I'm in Boerne, north of San Antonio. Lots of land around here. More expensive than if you go out in the sticks, but you get what you pay for. That's what I tell everyone and how I approach life. Location Location Location, better to have a smaller property or smaller house in a good area than something massive in an area nobody wants to live in. If nobody wants to live there, why would I enjoy living there?

From Boerne, we have the Rim and La Cantera about 20 mins south on the 10, which can handle all your shopping and eating needs. I couldn't live out in the sticks without good restaurants and entertainment. For the lady in your life as well, no way mine could after growing up in Socal.

Also I'm like you, I never go into SA proper unless it's the airport or something else that forces me to go. It's like LA, I try to avoid it. We don't have everything, certain things you'll only find in Dallas or Austin, but 95% of stuff you can find.

I will say the lakes suck ass right now, Lake Travis is basically unboatable, it's at 35% of capacity so the only way you can launch is with a crane if you have a dock or rent a slip. Canyon lake is also so low only 2 out of 20 launch ramps are open. I'd be afraid to run a nice boat there right now and risk breaking off the drive. Unsure of the other lakes, LBJ is always up but the water isn't clear as we're used to. The good thing is unlike the river, here a few solid storms is all it takes and lakes fill up since all the surrounding areas drain into it. The dubai rain storm for instance would basiclly solve all the lake level problems here in a week. Hoping this year is wet, so far so good.

Hope you find everything your heart desires!

Thank you for the info. Know the area pretty well as my TX address currently (domicile) is Fair Oaks Ranch.

Hoping to grab something in Blanco Co but we need to figure it all out.

I am good being further out personally. For instance Fredericksburg is too crowded for my taste. I like to walk around there from time to time but thats about it. Lol

Blanco co is nice! There is a member on here from around that area, I think Dripping Springs. He has some acreage too.

Alright. Cross your fingers for me. Put in an offer on 5 acres with a barndo in the hill country. Fully fenced and on county land.

Would post some details but dont want to jinx myself will wait until it goes thru.

Was able to make a cash offer which should help.

Cross those fingers please

Texas has kinda always been on my radar, but being in Kentucky this week has really opened my eyes. Hard to believe people can be this polite everywhere you go. “Thanks darlin” is common. Lots of fishing water or boating, real estate is priced pretty cheap compared to Colorado or Arizona. Not even gonna mention Cali. At this point in my life not going to buy another house. I will have the casita in Colorado until I die, then reverts back to the kids. The 34 Moho with 3 slides will be home until I can’t drive anymore. I kinda like seeing places I haven’t seen yet, and lottery wins haven’t ever amounted to anything lol.
Good luck to you Tom, maybe our paths will cross some day.

Thanks.....I hear ya. Most kids outside the cities always say yes sir and no sir.....love it

I thought the last house I bought would be the last one. When we got the house I told my fiancee at the time that we would never move again and would die in the house. She was like WTF.....I know what you mean but why can't you just say we will live here the rest of our lives....lol

I have given myself two months to find a place where I want in Texas. If I can't I will just continue rambling along and visiting other states. Either way I am good but would like to get back to a base somewhere in the hill country of Texas.

Should hear something on the offer today or tomorrow. After that there is a 10 day period where either party can cancel for any reason. There are some things that I am not used to out here concerning real estate purchases. It seems a less restrictive than CA and AZ but buyer beware for sure

Safe travels to you

Congrats @DILLIGAF 👍 Are you going to post up the sign up sheet as soon as you close? Or should we just pop on in? 😁
Think of me as kind of like an under the radar type. Clerance required or better have dark sunglasses on.....so the whites of the eyes can't be seen.....haha

Sounds like you took everything scenario into consideration, I'll be suprised if something slips when you are the guy planning it

I try but at times shit still can go sideways. Thats when your backup plan comes into play. Always have a backup and own the consequences.

Congratulations, I hope it checks all the boxes of what you are looking for, or at least checks enough boxes to execute the plan

Congratulations.
Hill Country is beautiful and some parts even have reasonable property taxes.
Make sure you sign up for over 65 tax exceptions to freeze your property tax values at current levels and rates. Additionally, you can defer all property tax payments until death of both homeowners and or sale of the property!

Yes sir...I will be looking into that immediately

I didnt know about deferring taxes. "Well son before I go I gotta tell ya something. Nothing is free in life and well, let me tell ya now so you arent surprised....."

Haha

Thanks for that info

So i stopped here for the night and I have been here a few other times. Nothing fancy at all but level so dont need to disconnect and FHU.

Big island tall roof place to get diesel before hitting the road in the AM.

Best thing about this is the Trump designed bar-res 100 yards away. They will literally tell libs to GTFO. Lol

I will get some pics for you when I head over
