As a military brat myself, I get the moving around part. My wife and I have had 2 houses in Havazoo, 2 in Gilbert/San Tan area, 5 in Cortez Co, one in Apache Junction and now living in the motorhome And building a 800 sq ft casita on the kids property in Colorado. Retired, no money, and wife with cancer. Who knows what’s next, but when she’s gone I will keep traveling as much as gas money will let me and there is fishing and maybe some golf. Always enjoyed your posts Tom about your travels. Life is short might as well enjoy what you can.

Sorry to hear about your wife....thats a tough one and hope she knocks it back.

I think the military brats learned to make friends fast. Then you were off to the next base and said your good byes.

We had 6 boys and 5 girls in our family.....when we came to a new school I am sure it was a little intimidating for some.....lol Actually.....I know it was :)

Always......I mean always....just keep doing that military march of life we were brought up in. You got this in whatever shape/form you have to deal with.

Awesome Tom. We all know whatever path you take you're Homestead will be bitchen!

I like the Barn-Condo idea as said above.

And yes more dogs for sure. Love the loyalty of a good dog.

Good Luck..... just a heads up i had family leave Corona about 5 years ago moved to Texas.. bought 11 acres with plans for a very nice house.

they are living in a trailer or some type of 300sq gaarge im not exactly sure because i have not seen pics..

but the reason is the y say the construction prices are out of contr0l and finding reliable construction company they say has been difficult.

I love those Barn-Condos.....Man cave on steroids that even a woman can love :)

Dogs to follow :)
I agree on all of it. On a nice parcel of land you could have allot of fun hobbies with a place like that.

I decided that its time to get off the road, pay cash for a property with 2+acres (as big as budget allows), well, septic, etc. Going to grow some basic food staples along with raising chix for eggs. Going to ramp up the dogs from 1 to 2/3 and fence the property. After that.....just wait till I can see the whites of their eyes :)

It is 95% going to happen in Texas.

Now.....time to wrap up some stuff and start shopping. Will probably sell the trailer and keep the dually.

Change is good peeps.....embrace it :)
Coming fro the fire service I can tell you there are two things firefighters hate; change and things staying the same! We were in the 5th wheel traveling about a year and a half. Enough for me. Good luck and hope you find that perfect property.

… Used to hit the road quite a bit… But what I found is you always had to have a piece of dirt to land on every so often…Ergo…my lake, Oroville property👍… which I still own…

Can’t wait to see where you land. I could see being on the road getting old after a while, I like to be home after about 10 days or so.

You have had some great adventures traveling.
Sounds like a new adventure.
How many points do you get for each illegal shot from crossing your fence :)

I think you did it right! Traveling when young enough to do it easily, yet old enough to enjoy. Now you’ve seen it, set up the final root, relax, enjoy, reflect, and encourage…… good for you sir!

Its been great for the most part....besides the two times springs gave out and was down and out. One happened as I crossed the bridge from LA to Beaumont TX....that one was a little worrisome.

All the people I met along the way were great. I traveled thru small towns and it showed me the USA is still there regardless of what the MSM tries to show us.

That's exciting, Tom. I was just telling Jeff this morning that I'm so thankful we have a home to go to next week instead of another RV park.

I was adamant about having a property with a good well, two forms of heat, and room for a garden. I have a collection of heirloom seeds that I'm looking forward to planting next month. I'm going to experiment with saving my own seeds. I'd love to have chickens, but we're not there all year, so that isn't an option. I will have to resort to buying eggs from the neighbors.

Truly living your dreams. Good to see someone doing this. As said earlier, you stop growing you start dying. Stay moving forward.

Good luck buddy, been a long time since we talked.
I thought we had escaped the liberal turmoil in So Cal back in 2002 when we moved to Havasu, fast forward to now and it seems to have followed us, and the over crowdedness especially but it will have to do, too old to move now

I am a free agent but technically in Bexar Co
Ole San Antonio area. Off topic, but have you ever ventured in town and eaten at a mexican place by the stockyards off I35, called Piedras Negras de Noche? Haven't been there in years, but it was killer then. Dang, now I gotta go back and try it again.

Congratulations, hope it all works out for you.

I know Texas is a big place, so probably not the same everywhere, but when we went to the wife's aunt's funeral a few years ago in Amarillo, as the procession went down the road, people on the sidewalk stopped and men removed their hats, even most traffic in the opposite side of the street stopped, it was quite impressive the respect they showed.👍

Being from California I’ll probably get shit for it but, I always remember the old saying that was mostly said during Dallas games back in the day.

How do you find Texas? Will, you go East until you smell it and then South until you step in it..

How do you find CA? Paradox, you drive West until you smell the human shit in the streets and then N or S until you step in it.

Unfortunately that is the truth these days. Wasn’t that way when I was growing up.

Of course my original post is specific to football rivalry. Everyone loved to hate the cowboys.
