Nice comeback C-Ya, I was sweating for a short period since I went long on NVDA at 105-110 buys vs my typical day trading of stocks method. I think a few more small ups and downs and back to 130's - 150's before years end.

I am afraid to post for fear that it will stop its upward trajectory……. LOL

I am still waiting to become the Bionic Man.

For those on the sidelines………. Had you purchased some shares 2 months ago, when it dipped, you would have made 35% on your investment in 2 months. I know this because I lost 35%……. lol

Let‘s hope it goes to $150……… Can I get an Amen? (My best babtist preacher voice)

With some recent news and chip timelines I think it will be at 150 soon enough....

Is 150 when we pull the plug take our money and run?
Not necessarily…….. $150 is where we look again at analyst predictions. If the new number still shows growth, such as a future price of say $200…………then we continue the ride.

I’ve been letting it ride for 11 years………. I don’t see that changing.

You have to feel comfortable with your investments, it depends on what a person is willing to risk or can risk, what their OUT number is, how much time one has for their goal, along with a lot of other factors. In my personal opinion, with AI in its infant phase the room to continue to grow and expand has not even been realized yet. Yes the run up is crazy so far but I personally feel there is much more room to grow.
All that said, I generally day trade, the longest I like to keep a stock is a few days, I have been bit and had to hold a stock for a few weeks even months until I made my sell price but I like to get out when a specific % has been made.
I have bought and sold NVDA a few times during its amazing runs both up and down. If you have made a decent profit there is nothing wrong with selling and taking the profit and if you feel you want to jump back in, nothing stopping you Just be careful of your short term tax liabilities.

Quite the roller coaster since August for you. up/down 40% or so. BofA saying $190 target, but really no end in sight up. At my place everything AI related is selling as fast we can make it.

Congrats!

My MSTR closed today at $219.77

Began buying Jan 16 at $40.21 (my average cost basis now $100 even).

Suffered 46% drawdowns along the way. . .

I just want to become The Bionic Man…….. lol

Great example of when to hold and when to fold. Either way, from initial investment to today, this was an awesome experience and investment for the OP and his family.

Thank you for the kind words!

FWIW, I am playing with house money. I have been for a very long time. Even though NVDA is down right now, it’s not a disaster. lol. Currently, every share that I purchased for $19, is today worth $4760, even with the drop. That’s a win by anybody’s standards.

I will continue to hold…….. Most likely for years into the future. In 9 years when I turn 70, I will evaluate what to do with stock then, unless some specific reason forces me to sell before then. No matter what happens……. It will still be the greatest investment of my life. A true Cinderella story. 19k turned into millions!

To end with some humor………. I am still out 19k, since I’ve never sold even a single share. lol Ouch!

I don't know how y'all play with single stocks. Personally I don't have the stones to deal with the emotional swings. I just opened up my Vanguard accounts and looked at my mutual funds, up 24% from 1/28/24. Back to sleep for another year.

I sold it all at 128 on the cent right before close. $9.89 profit a share in less than 32 hrs. As usual I told the wife watch I am going to sell and it will go up a buck lol....up .99 from what I sold. I knew it would, I also told her I bet it goes up another 3-6 bucks on Wednesday but I don't care I walked with a HUGE Profit so on to the next trade.

It’s those type of predictions that have kept me from selling for the last 12 years. There always seem to be some sort of rosy outlook ahead. Thank You @DRYHEAT , you made my day. My analysts are currently predicting $175 per share. I hope you are right, and they are wrong. Lol

Just for fun……. $220 x 40,000 minus $19k…….. Sounds fantastic to me! Lol

Obviously I am in a good mood……. lol

Nothing wrong with having some good funds especially if it helps you sleep at night.

I have made mention of Motley Fool numerous times in this thread…….

FWIW……… I owe my entire NVDA portfolio to the Motley Fool recommendation. If not for MF, I would have NEVER of known about it. Even then, I thought I was buying into a sensor company, not a chip company. But it didn’t matter. MF recommended it, my wife and I bought it. It was really that simple.

Approx 1 year ago, give or take, MF recommended PLTR. It too was an excellent tip. Sure, it’s not NVDA, but its growth has also been phenomenal. Again, MF’s recommendation.

It should be no surprise that I own quite a few other stocks. However, I only plan on discussing NVDA. I will keep my other holdings private.

FWIW………. I actually regret starting this thread. Just saying. Personally, I am a “set it and forget it” investor. Here on RDP, I am constantly reminded of my NVDA. This thread dies and comes back…… over and over and over. If it were up to me, I’d check the stock every 3 to 6 months, unless I get an alert on my phone, which is letting me know that I am getting close to an automatic preset sell-off, based on my parameters. Other than that……. Let it ride is my attitude!

A subscription to Motley Fool is the best investment I ever made. Better than NVDA, because I wouldn’t be where I today without MF. I give MF my HIGHEST recommendation. Look what it did for me!

Understood, and thanks for the write-up.

Most never speak of their losers. What is the win/loss rate of their recommendations? If you had to guess.

I get emails from MF all the time, tempted to sign up and see how it goes.

I'm not sure of their long term predictions but over the last few months Motley Fool has recommended CART (maplebear). EME (emcor) and SHOP (shopify) out of those only Emcor has been a disappointment. The others have more than covered the EME loss though.

When you sign up for the Subscription to MF, you will see a ton of educational info. It’s been awhile, but we have done MF webinars on “shorting” stock and other types of investing. We personally got a lot out of this. Lots of options. I highly recommend this.

One thing I learned in 2008……. I don’t need to pay somebody to loose my money, I am completely capable of loosing a fortune on my own! LOL (in reality….. instead of paying someone, learn it yourself. MF makes learning fun)

2008 Lesson was learned as well lol. Always learn it yourself along with plenty of research, MF has a great rep and very nice track record with finding unknowns and saving time to give investors a head start in what stocks/firms to invest in or at least keep watch on, learn about and make a possible investment.

NOTHING BEATS doing your own research and making decisions on your own findings not hype or social media that is for sure. I for one am glad you started this thread. In my opinion it has possibly taught some young investors that anything is possible, and it does not take breaking the bank to invest for their future...for us old folks it's years of research, live and learn and hopefully come out on top...
(PS I Jumped back in at 121/122 yesterday lol).

What’s y’all’s take on intel? Sure they’re in the shitter now. Earnings today. Probably deeper in the red.

With them being based here in the US and having mfg plants. Huge here in AZ they sure seem poised for new direction and a re birth. Or get acquired by a company like Broadcom

From everything I have researched most say RUN from Intel, old news, bad management, back of the field. Broadcom is the future between the two that is for sure (up over 10 bucks yesterday). Wait for pullbacks or buy when you feel it is right.
