Lets roll!

Got in my AVGO at 500. Had NVDIA and sold it when it hit that wall and missed the big upward jump.

So I bought calls on Lulu. This has been an insane run!

Nice. I had GME calls. Sold 1/2 of them today for 100% gain lol. Now it's going up even more after hours. Bought $SMCI puts at almost high of day and those went up 80% and I sold 1/2. Tomorrow ill be interesting.

At what point do you take the money and run john?
That’s a complicated question……..

Here is the simple answer.

”When it stops going up in value”

For those that wonder why I don’t sell……… Would you sell something that was appreciating by the day? (Just follow this thread for confirmation)

Had I listened to those negatives posts at the start of this thread……… I would have left 2.5 million on the table. That’s not how I roll! LOL. I want every last nickel! (Again, I am just being funny. I am in a great mood today.

One last thing……… I think I jinxed myself today. Lol

I check Nvidia, and it’s trading at $1252. That’s when I post my 5 million…….. Woooo Hoooo. I get home only to find out, that instead of having finally cleared the $5 million dollar hurdle……… I actually lost $57,680 today. Go Figure. LOL

I am still the happiest guy I know………..

I thought about making a thread for this. But then I thought I would throw it into this thread.

For those wondering where I might be making my next large stock purchase, my wife and I are currently doing our due diligence on the following company. So far we like what we see. We are thinking of buying several thousand shares, or more.

Analysts say it will grow by 27% over the next 3 years. However, look it up yourself. Make your decisions based on what you read. Report back (You will have to read in order to find out what they do. Homework)

Here it is:

Palantir Technologies - PLTR - New York Stock Exchange

This stock has some similarities to when we first purchased Nvidia. Lots of potential. Again, Report back. Just want to see if you see what we see.

I just saw a email that it’s supposed to do a 10 to 1 split June 10th. What happens when it does that ?

It actually splits tomorrow……

Basically, it allows more buyers to purchase at a lower level, by lowering the cost to buy in.

1 share today = $1200
1 share tomorrow =$120

I am hoping this gives the stock a little surge by way of affordability! Stock splits usually prompt this action.

Also, looks like there will be a dividend? Do you know anything about that, yours should be pretty penny!

.10 per share. For me, that’s $4000 since I will have 40,000 shares.

After the 2008 meltdown, we no longer use financial advisors. We educated ourselves, and make all of our own trades based off of reading analysts predictions and other publications. We are strong believers in the Motley Fool Newsletter. It is how we learned about Nvidia, 11 years ago. It is also how we found Palantir Technologies.

Great advise , is there a platform that works good that is easy to learn and we can put some money in ?

For some reason I thought it would be more, $4k is nothing to sneeze at. I own 5 shares:confused:. But not complaining, bought in at $699 and will hold until retirement 6-8 years!

Since C-Ya didn’t want to stick his neck out first.🤣 I guess I’ll do it. I use Charles Schwab, but I’m probably a little bit different than most as I’m a dividend investor, although I do own quite a bit of tech for growth.

Charles Schwab has been pretty good as far as answering questions and not trying to sell other services. They seem to have a lot of assistance. 🤷‍♂️

Broker: “Energy stocks are at an all time low of $22 per share. (Coal) Its a great time to buy!”

Me: “ok, I’ll take 1000 shares”

Broker 2 months later: “Your Energy stocks are down to $11 per share. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO BUY”

Me: “ok Mr Hard Pressure stock salesman. I’ll buy another 1000 shares, since it’s at an ALL TIME LOW”

Today…….. My 2000 shares of Energy Stock is trading at around $6 per share.

The above is why I no longer listen to stock brokers. I invest in future technologies. Not COAL. lol

Sounds like you and I were swimming in the same pool. I think I probably lost somewhere between 25 and $35,000 speculating in coal. 🙄 F Obama and his war on Coal. “ but the analysts say” 🤣

I used to love fucking with those cold callers peddling stocks. A few basic questions on company fundamentals or market usually stumped the hell out of them and turned their hard sell tactics into them hanging up on me, haha. The olden days......

My "portfolio" is heavy into tech stocks. I was thinking about picking up some energy stocks. What is the thought on energy companies?

I have 245 shares of PLTR at $19 share. I ride it all the way to the bottom and back up again.

I’m holding it for a long time.

It has allot of upside in my opinion. I highly recommend buying anywhere below 14 and bet the farm if it goes to single digits.

It has met the requirements to be added to the s&p 500 but has not been accepted the last to times. So it’s due.

Small sample of what they do.

Added this to my watch list. (I am not an expert so not criticizing, just want to learn more).

It appears that this stock has an extremely high P/E ratio = 187 and is trading at 23, should that be a concern when buying? Everything I read says that lower P/E is better for stock investing. Some comparison would be for NVIDIA is 70 (still kinda high). I own AMZN and it's done well YTD and has P/E ratio of 50. I read that best range is 20ish?

I guess I am asking the group how much they pay attention to this metric.

One of the things I look at is how much debt the company has. From what I read, PLTR has no debt.

Then I look at profit.

Then I look at the market they are in. Is there growth in their industry? How much market share do they have? What do analysts predict for their future?

This stock came on our radar because it has a great potential. However, rather than focusing on it being the next Nvidia, I am more interested in the analysts predictions that it will grow by 27% over the next 3 years. So, even if it doesn’t turn into Nvidia, 27% return on investment is a great rate of return. That’s what has our interest in this stock.

Plus……… At some point the Nvidia ride will be over. I need to diversify the funds I will receive when I do sell. I also thought the reader might be curious as to what stocks we are doing due diligence on. PLTR is just one of many, but both my wife and I are liking what analysts are reporting about PLTR. Again, this stock tip came to us from Motley Fool. The same newsletter that took my 19k investment to 5 mill. It is why I respect their recommendations.

Wow. What a ride. But I have been through a couple of market crashes, and I might have an earlier exit strategy even if it involves paying some taxes.

I did just read the Motley Fool article on PLTR. They seem pretty bullish but it's going at 65 X earnings which seems awfully high.
