As always, to each their own....But you can have Hawaii. Liberals are ruining it among a list of other issues. We sold our place there last year. Zero regrets. Flordia? We go at least once a year. nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I don't like the extreme humidity and bugs. I would never want to own there with the hurricane issues EVERY year. We go to LOTO once a year too, again, humidity is pretty gnarly in the summer and I don't do living in snow (even if it is "not that bad"). Going to eventually buy a vacation home in Havasu but again, we wont be there July and Aug, 120 degrees? Uh, no thanks. We'll never sell our SO CA beach shack. We live in a little slice of heaven. Foggy at times, yep. Windy at times, yep. whatever. Most comfortable climate year round, bar none. The joke "but the weather's so great..." isn't really a joke. Its a fact.

I would even consider moving back to California if I could afford to live in a little beach, shack and didn’t have to venture into the big city. 😊

lol Hawaii is kind of wack to be honest. I would take tronconnes over Hawaii any day. There’s a ton more places to go and check out. My mom worked in Hawaii so we’ve been plenty. Waikiki is just like downtown La 😂😂 I wouldn’t be bragging about Honolulu
Only been to Oahu once like 27 years ago. Waikiki we stayed at but wouldn’t bother to go there. If we go again it’s north shore to just hang out watch the big surf.

Did Maui last year was fun but talked to another in Maui who just got there from Honolulu and said it wasn’t that great lol.

Honestly Hawaii is cool to say you’ve done it but after Troncones I was to try Costa Rica Bali Guatemala there just a lot of cool places to see

Well that didn't take long for you to be a anti CA.😂 Did you buy a house yet. 🤷‍♂️
California has its positives and negatives, for me the negatives out way the positive.

The weather joke is just the theme of the thread, yes it’s great if you don’t have a mountain range in between you and the ocean. If you live in the IE you are just paying CA prices for AZ weather lol.

Not yet, my lease is for a year and depending on what the market is doing we will decide then. Luckily for me prices are dropping out here unlike in CA. Life’s an adventure, who’s knows what will happen in the next year.

I guess I got lucky. Born and raised in So Cal. Worked 41 years here and bought a nice house in Yorba Linda 25 years ago. My retirement is set up to live here. I doubt I could have done it if I was just starting out now.

I wanted to bring that up earlier, a lot of inmates have beautiful homes in nice areas of CA, such as you and Tank.

If you (any inmate) had a young family and budget of $420k (median US home price) where would you choose to buy a home?

Good question. Not sure for me. But when I was working a few a our top foreman with young families moved to Texas and Tennessee and I hear they like it. Work is good for them in our trade. I guess it depends on what type of job you have.

My friend in local 12 said his coworker bought a house in Santa Clarita, the lowest price one at the time, $5800/month and it’s a fixer upper lol. He doesn’t even net that he said. Wife works too but what a life. Do not want any part of that

That’s the thing, I don’t think many people who love California would choose it if they had to restart in life.

A nice area, with good weather and good schools will cost you close to a million in CA.

It’s a lot easier to love CA when your house is paid for and worth 4-5 what you paid for it lol.

I love californa because I live .5 miles away from my dad and we drive golf carts to each others house on the weekend and empty each others fridge of silver bullets.

I lived in phx when my mom died in 2015. After that I realized how much it meant to me to be close to my family which is why I love SoCal.

I also love SoCal because I can drive 45 minutes and ride the craziest single track you ever ridden in your life with @white tortilla and @pixrthis

My house isn’t paid for. I bought it in 2021 for $825k with 10% down and it was a total beater.

The housing out here is fucking out of control. I have a decent paying career and so does my wife which helps but it’s not easy out here by any means.

Phx is awesome, I had a ton of fun out there. Enjoy wherever you live and make the best out of it 🤙🏻

PS- If you sell that bad ass stoker let me know!

California definitely has some of the best riding, that is for sure!

P.S. I was not aware I owned a bad ass Stoker, that’s one of the reasons I moved here is so I could afford one. Is it a 204 with a 2.5 by chance?😁

Dam! I thought for sure you had a 204 with a 2.5. Nvm… too many silver bullets 😂

Ahahaha, wrong member, my bad! I would sell you my 204 with a 225 evinrude but it’s literally the best boat ive ever owned.
That’s sounds like a great boat. The temperament of the high HP 2.5s worry’s me for a “family boat”, but damn I want one.

Not really great options if you work on the west side of LA 🤣
It’s not great if you work in havasu either what’s your point?

Was just thinking you might spend 3/4 of your life in traffic. It doesn’t matter to me because I don’t work.🤣

lol remember saying this next June July Aug. Norco is hot but no way is it Phoenix hot. There’s a reason prices are dropping there and not Cali. I just had this conversation w a realtor yesterday. I’m looking for rental property in Avondale

My house is worth maybe double what we bought for. I can’t say paid because I still have like 14 years left on it. My kids go to turning point. All 3 it’s very expensive but to me it’s worth it. I wouldn’t be able to do it if my wife didn’t work and make as much as she does. In a few years she’ll be able to stop working and I’ll finish what we started. I go to Phoenix a lot. Everyone has different wants and needs out of life. I love raising my kids in Norco. Nothing wrong w Phoenix it’s just not for me. Same with bhc I love being there love the house there but not sure I could do full time there yet. Almost seems like we’ll raise the kids in Cali and then we will have a few different spots to stay in a perfect world. I really don’t think there’s a perfect place year round.

I think he works remote which opens up options. I couldn’t do Norco if I was still in the field. We probably would have bought in Phillips ranch on my parents street. Same price but a lot less property. Since my home base for work is Ontario Norco is a 20 minute drive.

The carpenters union just bought the us bank building. Stole it I should say
The pic is the US Bank tower.

They bought the old Union Bank building, the building that had a breeding pair of Peregrine falcons on ut for several years. It's the white building in this photo behind the Bonaventure Hotel

No I think we bought the 39 story us bank building for 82 million. The 38 and 39th floor will stay occupied we are moving out of the 10th floor of our current building and into the 37th floor. I’ll double check my pictures right now I took a picture of the slide at the delegates meeting Saturday

Nope you’re right I wasn’t paying enough attention obviously

Buildings are cheap in DTLA because of the high vacancy rates. They remodeled the US Bank tower to make it feel more like a "home office" environment....but that didn't work, either. And they got rid of the "Sky Slide" 😡

We are hoping they scuttle our plush digs in the Wells Fargo Center so we can start "hoteling" in our local cities (Riverside for me)

Yea I guess the last owner took a bath on that building and there’s no cash flow for ti now so he can’t get anyone new in there. I’m not sure what our plans our. I think we might knock the other building down and do a parking structure? I don’t know that above my pay grade.

Phoenix might average a hotter temp, but Norco is in no way the “California weather” everyone is referring to. I have gone back to SoCal twice since moving here. Once in July, the temp was the exact same, and once in September where California was actually 1 degree hotter than at home both days. Both times I went back temps were over 100 in SoCal.

California is too big of an economy to shift as fast as Arizona.

Norco is a great place to raise kids, probably one of the best in SoCal. When I went to Norco High it had about half the kids as the other schools in the district. The “citifying” of Norco makes me sad, I can’t stand the Carmax and the new pop ups where the egg farm was.

I haven’t had any 115-120 days since moving here and supposedly this was the hottest summer on record. I also live in the far east valley which tends to stay cooler than central phoenix.

Also, my house stays about 10 degrees cooler than Parker, at least that is what I noticed over this summer.

DTLA is not the same. It used to be packed with people and jumping. Pretty women everywhere. Now it's dead and most of the hotties are European tourist.

The US Bank tower renovation cost them 60MM and it didn't work.

It seems hybrid schedules are here to stay and the need for office space will continue to plummet.

I see some luxury apartments in the future for the Carpenters building. 👍

To be fair, I probably wouldn’t have moved back to CA if I couldn’t afford to live near the ocean.

I don’t get living in places like Victorville. Sameish weather as N TX but the quality of living is infinitely better in TX.
