If you shot an 80 after not playing in 15 years, You must have been one hell of a golfer before you stop playing lol.

Guys are out here playing three times a week for the last 10 years and can't even break 90 lol.
I play about three times a year but just in 4 man scrambles for work events. But yes I was a club pro and at one point played on some smaller mini tours.

Ping G430 driver, 3 and 5 woods and TaylorMade P-790 irons and MG4 wedges. The wedges took a bit of getting used to since I went from mostly playing with a 60 degree around the greens to a 58 degree. I also got the 54 degree which has become one of my favorite clubs. Anything 100 yards out or below and I can throw darts with it (that is assuming I hit it well).
My most lofted wedge is a 54 (Callaway PM grind, came out just before Jaws)...I use it for everything 100 yards and in. I love that club.

Unless you plan on spending a ton of time practicing with a 60* wedge there no reason to carry one. Gap wedges are great but take away some longer range utility type clubs. I’d suggest getting real familiar with a wedge in the 52* to 58* range and take a few strokes of your score. Spend enough time with your pitching wedge and one of the other lofts mentioned above and remove any doubt from your short game.

Man what a perfect day today was for golf. Shot a 82 at Hidden Valley today’s last week I was ready to quit golf …

Playing Desert Island Country Club in Rancho Mirage early Saturday morning. My wife has a work conference so taking advantage of the free room and board lol. Never played this tract, looks pretty cool. Looks like a couple slots are still open at the 710 tee time if anyone is wants to team up.

Well... Lol fun tract not quite worth the green fees.

Could not have played worse if I tried. Can't blame the course I was just off. Short game was good so that helped but I shot a 93 with a good ole snowman on one par 4.

I could see this course eating you up around the greens even if you were hitting it well. Lots of up and down hill with a ton a break, the green rolled really true though.

I remembered how to play today lol. Played a local, it's a short track at par 65. Shot 4 over on the front and even on the back. Stupid double bogey on the 1st hole par 3. Still felt good writing a 69 on the card lol. Had 1 chip in birdie and one wedge from around 25 yards that dropped. My 6 year was not impressed.

I can only use my driver on about 5 holes here but they were all good tee shots. Most of them I was using my 7 wood and irons, never got in trouble. Today was the first time I felt like I hit my new irons well. I had something bad going on with my swing recently where I'm pushing of fading way more right then it should but hopefully figured that out.

At least until I go next time and shoot 20 over lol.

Played Friday morning at Torrey Pines. South course. They were still taking the grand stands down. Only one of our foursome hit one into them. LOL

The rough was still crazy long. Due to the heavy rains the track has just been too wet to mow very much. Local rule was a one minute search where you though it was and then free drop. I played cheap golf balls all day! I found a half dozen just walking around searching for mine. If you had the fortune to find your ball, hacking it out was a whole other event. I haven't played in a bit so a 93 out there isn't terrible, but I hoped to do better. I outplayed the three other guys even though I'm about 15 years older than they are.

Missed a hole in one by 13 inches on # 11. Not a bad thing, my partners would have bankrupted me at the bar. 😁 A tap in birdie works just fine.
The greens were still stupid fast. Resident rate is $85.00 I think it is $250 for tourists.

Played Oak Quarry this morning. Made a 6am tee time online. Figured it was a mistake. We were actually the 4th group off. 😬. Everyone in front of us played with glow in the dark balls. First group had lanterns.

I’ve had a terrible case of the hooks lately so decided to break down and go see my instructor. He watched two swings and asked what I was doing standing up so much at address. I then bent more at the waist (like I used to do) and starting hitting nice little push draws.
Funny how the littlest things can have so much effect. Now let’s see if I can take it to the course. Going to try and play a round in in the morning if the weather cooperates.

When I worked at Indian I had a Sunday morning group with a standing tee time first ones out, they would tee off in the dark.

It was pretty crazy. I never knew it was a thing. The pic is a little deceiving. It was pretty damn dark for our tee shot. After that it wasn’t too bad. Watching the balls on the other fairway was entertaining. Red, glow in the dark balls going everywhere.

Hated those glow ball tee times when I was a super! 1st time they did it at skylinks the GM didn’t tell me and I almost took a ball to the head driving down the 2nd fairway in the dark!

Once I found out the GM approved it we had some words about who’s in charge of what goes on out on the course.

Played in a fundraiser again for the high school baseball team right before it was going to start raining the next day. I froze my ass off! I'd rather play in 110 degrees in Palm Desert than playing when its cold.

Off to Maui tomorrow. My wife is playing with me so we aren't going high end golfing. Her handicap would be about a 65. LOL But she's cute in a skirt. I'll swing by Kapalua. For hat and a drink. ;) We'll probably play the muni at Wiaehu. If I can work a deal where she can hang by the pool and I can golf, maybe I'll hit somewhere pricey. We'll see.

Trying to get out more. Played Birch Hills last Friday before work. Tee time was 6:30 and finished 18 by 9. Not bad and an easy way to play and still get to work.

I’m 1st day of our annual work meeting in Vegas today. Started off with a round at The Wynn. The course is pretty legit. Greens were fast, rough is sticky. Front nine was tough, found my groove on the back.

Took a trip to Maui earlier this month. Needed to feel some warmth in my old bones. LOL
Stopped in at Kapalua Plantation course. Just gorgeous. Bought a hat. Didn't make sense to play there with the wife. She's a hacker. At $459 each she wouldn't enjoy it. LOL

So we played Waiehu instead. Costs about 80% less. 🏑⛳ Even though it isn't high end, it was still amazing. Windy as fuck though. Right on the water. Stopped off for Poke on the way. Played with a couple locals who were hilarious.

Tomorrow I continue my match play . Playing Los Sorranos North. We both are 12 handicaps but this guy always kicks my ass I’m out for revenge 😂 He’s too damn quiet and serious.

Lol I'm playing around an 11 right now. Anything around 10 to 12 to me is a sneaky ass index. There is some good golf mixed in there and if every thing is clicking you can put up a solid ass score. There is plenty of times shooting even par on the back 8 or 9 over on the front.

Get there early and putt like crazy and kick his ass lol.

Hemet golf club this morning, 0640 tee time. The good, missed an albatross on the first hole, 8" left of the cup. The bad the other 17 holes, lol!
Won 8 skins on 3 holes and one closest to the pin.
