So are you flying and driving back or having it shipped?
Flying and driving. Right now flights are under $300 and fuel should be about $400. So I still save $3300.

I plan on calling in sick on a Thursday before my flex Friday. Pick up the truck late Thursday. Drive for a bit and take a nap in the back seat. Then drive probably 15hrs the second day. Should be home mid day Saturday. Recoup Sunday.

You could go in the middle with 3:73.

Really depends on how much unloaded freeway driving you do.

At most I’m going to commute in it once a week 120mile round trip.
If fuel mileage is really bad I will just take the Durango or the Jeep.
Currently, my truck isn't a daily driver, so I only use it for towing, dump runs, etc... That is the only reason I haven't bought one.

I may make some changes where I will drive my personal vehicle more. If I am using it as my daily driver, then I will be mostly driving unloaded. We will see.

If I get an F250 Tremor, it will have 4.30 as that is all they offer.

If I get an F350, it will be 4.30.

If i get an F250 (non Tremor) then I have to decide. The 3.73 might be a good in between.

Do the ‘22s have the fold flat front seats that turn into a bed like Truck Norris (F150)?

My modest XLT surely does not. Goggle only showed F150’s doing that. I suppose that could be used for some adult activities, but it would be awkward to sleep with your knees bent and feet on the ground while laying flat 🤷‍♂️

Probably accurate. It sounds ok for a nape though.

FWIW I was just in my friends ‘21 last week for a trip to Havasu and back. His has 15k miles on it and the XLT cloth really feels nice now, not so coarse like when new. It’s like it got broken in a bit with some use. It has a nice smooth feel now.

He is loving the truck.

Not a Godzilla topic, but it's Ford so that's close.
Did they get your cam phaser rattle all fixed ?

I think I want to do the battery disconnect reset on mine. Trans, synch, all systems, this prompted by a few strange random glitches of late.
I can easily leave it disconnected all night, since I mostly only use it on weekends. Anything special that needs to be done after reconnection other than restoring my synch settings etc ?
I know on my Camaro I had to re-index the windows, but that's not an issue on the truck.

Also OEM H7 AGM battery is just past 4 years old, and I'm not sure how many years owners are getting out of them. Might also explain a few glitches immediately after starting ?? Like maps not loading, synch not playing sorta things.

Yea I got the truck back Thursday, almost a week after their “worst case scenario” return date. I drove it that day and it was fine, and it sat until this morning for a cold start at 46 degrees and no rattle. Drove it to Havasu today, it had a couple smells when I stopped after about 45 mins, I’m assuming these were from spilled fluids/ residue burning off. No more smells 3 hours later once I got into town.

As far as the reset I will have to see what you need to do. Generally there is still a KAM - Keep Alive Memory that will hang around. On the new trucks I don’t know know to reset that without a scan tool, or if you can leave the headlights on with the battery disconnected, or pull both battery cables off the battery and touch them together.

I’ll see if I can find something definitive.

Dealer I ordered from just got 41 Trucks scheduled in addition to the 33 that was there regular allocation.

Hopefully they can keep this up and my wait may not be to bad.

Have they assigned you a VIN number yet?

No I have a ton of people ahead of me.
I ordered 12/16/21.
My guess is I will get scheduled sometime in April. Vin and window sticker usually get populated a bit after scheduling.

I’m thinking I will pick up the truck end of June. Any earlier than that is great.

If I don’t get scheduled until May or June I may end up with a 2023. Hopefully they don’t mess with my price if they do that.

Awe shit came across this picture today. Now I’m second guessing the black appearance package. Yes I know it looks just like my last one.

Is your shipping quote from granger? I have a trx on order from chapman in PA and shipping to CA is $2300. Let me know if you would like the contact info.

I’m not going to have it shipped that would eat up most of what I saved by buying out there.

I’m going to fly out there and drive it back. I am trying to swing by Texas and buy an enclosed trailer and bring that home.

I looked at a used 21 F-250 7.3L yesterday. I would add a gooseneck hitch. Is the ford gooseneck and puck system good, or is aftermarket better? Are there downsides to adding the OEM system after the truck has been manufactured?

Right now if you order the factory 5th wheel prep your truck will take forever to get built.

I think the factory systems are a gimmick. I see no increased benefit from them and the hitches that fit cost way more.

That baller shit. And definitely not going to fit in the garage lol.
I think I will do a 1” or 1.5” leveling kit with some bilstiens and some tires that’s it.

You’ve always got the badass gassers…it’s fun trying to spend your money 😊

I would like to put it on 37’s with a Carli leveling kit. But these things get horrible fuel mileage as it is no need to make it worse. That and the whole fit in the garage thing.
I’ve been looking at 295/65/20 AT Incase I can’t get a deal on Tremor take offs.

Did you ever see my 07 z71? I did a mild build thread on that on glamis dunes back in the day.
It was one of my favorites.

I don’t think I saw that truck…I’d love to see it.

I totally hear you about fitting in the garage…also parking structures.

Added it above and my bro wagon.
I’ve lost a small fortune on buying building trucks.

Anyone with info on a good tuner for a RV with the 7.3? I’m looking at 5 Star as they did well for the last V10 and shitty trans programming.

love mine. Would never do rails for a 5er again. Super easy to take in and out, power plug already built in. And bought a used 24k hitch for $400.

The TFL guys on YouTube did some videos with the 5 star tuner on a 7.3L. They seem to like it.

Thanks all. I saw they found 120hp above the factory rpm curve of 3900.

Not a gimmick at all. Night & day difference than the old rail systems. Like flip phone versus today’s phones better.

What’s better about it?
Rails stick up that kinda sucks, but not a big deal.
Other than that what’s the advantage?

Its simplistic, no extra pins to use, doesn't stick up. Convenience.

Not sure what the up charge is for it....Remember it comes with the 5er plug already.

Looks like Ford is developing a hybrid version of the F250.

I dont see it helping out much in terms of mileage, but it may add some grunt for a short time and enable the inverter systems the F150 has making the platform even better for trailer towing as you could skip a second genset to power it.

It’s easier than rails getting the assembly in and out. Literally set it and kick the locking levers shut. One pin to lock them down that can be accessed outside the truck.

I’ve had 5th wheel hitches in all my trucks and my latest Ford was by far the nicest and cleanest. Nothing is sticking above the floor and uneven with the bed floor.

To each is own but the cost difference was so minimal compared to the overall cost of the truck when I ordered it that I opted for it. For my wants I was glad I did. It’s a nicety, not a necessity.

Thats on motorhomes. The F53 motorhome chassis limits RPM to under 4000 and therefore the motor doesn't make peak power. Raise the limiter to match the F-series trucks and it magically makes the same rated power.

You're not gonna get 120hp from 5-star on a pickup,

Locking in with 1 pin would be way better than 4.
FWIW if your order the 5th wheel prep right now good luck lol.

I’ve heard it’s a delay when ordering that package. I’m sure it’s because of supply downstream out of Ford’s hands because I think the puck system is manufactured by Reese.

From someone who has had multiple gooseneck and 5th wheel hitches...ill never buy a truck again without the puck setup. I have it now and its tits.

For sure.

But there’s also good reasons why they don’t let motors - gas or diesel - achieve high outputs (either via rpm or boost) in commercial chassis.
