Now, if you can get a Ram 3500 with a Cummins for the same price as a BB gasser ford- that’s something to think about. Even with the 6 speed. I’ll take my 3500 Ram with Aisin all day over the gasser. If you can find one.

I just built a comparable big horn and it was $57,200.

So that kinda settles that haha.

My bad, I was Ocotillo for four days. I got the console and added the safe. Great if you have friends that carry firearms...😀

Might be too personal of a question, feel free to ignore…but why avoid financing?

Because anyone can buy something with payments. The older I get I would rather own than finance.

When I was young I thought I was cool driving around the banks new truck.
Now I’m cool because I’m driving my new truck.

The seats in my buddies Platinum kick the shit out of the seats in my Denali. But as Ace stated Ford is heavily lacking in the XLT and STX trims.
XLT is more comparable to a tradesman than a big horn I think.
An XL would be the stripped tradesman.

I think people are getting soft. Mid trim level trucks are nice as fuck. Everyone wants to drive a luxury car now lol.

Besides less a bells and whistles less things to go wrong.
Like to I really need power fold mirrors only $280 would be super handy.
Why do I need a power seat? I set it once and it never moves again. So what benefit is that?

So people that I don’t want to drive my truck can enjoy how easy it is to adjust the seat? Fuck’em your lucky to be touching my truck that alone sitting in the driver seat lol.

I built 4 trucks all 4x4 3/4 crew cab long beds. STX vs tradesman both 50k and XLT vs Bighorn both 55k. The Ram definitely has Ford beat in the interior in both trims. However the Fords 7.3 with 4.30s will probably tow a lot easier than the Rams 6.4 with 4.10s even though they are rated to tow within a couple hundred pounds of each other. As far as options I believe they are both evenly matched it just comes down to the interior of the ram being more comfortable and better looking.

If I could afford a Longhorn or a platinum that’s what I would be buying but for now base models will do the job.

The reason I like electric seats is because my girlfriend and I frequently drive each other’s vehicles. My truck doesn’t have them but I drive with my seat all the way back so that’s easy, now in her Yukon we have memory seats so it’s nice to get in hit a button and be comfortable.

Anyone have the new 7.3 with 4:30 gears?

What do you tow? how heavy?

MPG? Not that I’m to concerned about it.

Overall impression and would you do it again?

I’m doing research for my next truck.
My first pick is the 7.3 f250
Second is 6.4 Ram 2500

I’m over the hassle of diesels and the crazy cost and potential repair bills.

I text Bobby at Sunrise and he can do MSRP
If I do a custom order.
My build on Fords website was $54,000
Long bed XLT
Is that the best deal available?

Curious as to why you want the Godzilla vs PSD?

This weekend I left a deposit on a 2022 F350 Tremor, PSD, Lariat ultimate package, night edition, etc. The only thing that I wish it had was the 50-gallon tank. The truck should be delivered in Feb/March. I'm switching to Ford from Ram and never even considered the Godzilla, but wondering if you know something that I don't. lol.

I had a new 2012 Ram 2500, CC SB Laramie CTD, sold that for a new 2018 Ram 3500 dually loaded, wife hated the dually so I sold that for a (used) 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab, Laramie, CTD. Loved the Ram's and have nothing bad to say about them, but the F350 Tremor with the 10-speed is speaking to me!

My 5th wheel is about 11,500#s dry and 17,000#s loaded. We use it once a month or so, towing locally (beaches, desert, river) with a 3,-4,000-mile summer road trip.

This. I bought the big horn plus specific options.. it’s a very well equipped truck and has all I wanted. We go up north a lot and I’m not a fan of leather when it’s colder than a well diggers ass.

This. The freaking seat cushions are all the same except for the covering. Yea you get some lumbar bladders or massagers in the Platinum for $20K more.

The XL/XLT (and every other midgrade truck with cloth) has a bit of a coarse feeling, but it is crazy durable and stain resistant. Few people drive naked anyway. Cloth is 1000X better for us in the cold and the summer heat.

I could care less if the truck has a leather trimmed dashboard or door panels.

Aside from the leather seats, a 2021 XL or any GM or Dodge work truck is nicer than just about anything made 15-20 years ago.

6k of cargo wholly chit!
I don’t want a diesel because they cost way more to buy. The cost more to fix and have more of a chance to fail.
For the weight I’m going to tow and how often gas is better for me.
This truck will likely see 5,000 miles per year.
That’s a whole bunch of money and risk just so I can be at the top of the hill 1 minute sooner tow way above the speed limit.
If someone else is paying the bills is would have a diesel all day long.

From what I see you are towing you really don’t have the 7.3 as a choice.

I think it is because he wants to spend $55k not $80k.

The PSD is a $10K upgrade, it gets slightly better mileage, but $10K buys a lot of gas. If you aren't towing every weekend, It starts to make a lot of sense, especially with all the maintenance issues you can face with a modern diesel down the road. You could easily have a $10K repair bill if something goes south.

My only regret with my Ram 3500 was not popping for the leather interior and a decent stereo. Oh well having that quoted now.

Mines an oddball SLT that was ordered with the Big Horn dash (thank god) but has the standard tiny stereo, but the upgraded cloth seats. I assume it was a Forman or superintendents truck that someone backed out of.

Correct me if I am wrong but only the Ram limited has actual leather from cows, and only a small percentage. Every other trim is "pleather"
On Fords maybe only the kings ranch use real leather...

Basically all the leather people have is glorified vinyl... which is why you need AC in the seat because its not comfortable. I sweat at any temp in modern Naugahyde type leather vehicle seats.

@Ace in the Hole buys under his Montana LLC, so no tax.

@bldrinker if you are paying cash for items you might want to look into a Montana LLC.
Honestly this will be the only new large purchase I pay cash for, For a while.
Been saving since to 2018 LOL I’m no baller.

Not sure I want the hassle to be honest. Wonder what would happen if I get pulled over with Montana plates, CA license and CCW?

Also can you finance through a LLC? My toy hauler will be financed in unfortunately.

I have no idea. It would make sense that it is a synthetic product though. Unless there is alcantara inserts, every leather equipped vehicle I’ve had left the seating surface very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. Plus you slide all over the seat without any kind of cloth or alcantara insert. It’s just not for me.

CCW has everything to do with your residence, nothing to do with the plate on your car.

You can finance through an LLC, I did so through my LLC on my F150. I did so to leverage Section 179 to write off the full depreciation. Truck is going to be effectively free aside from insurance and operating costs when I sell it.

There is really now hassle, the llc broker keeps your CC on file and charge the fees annually and sends you everything. Do you know what your registration will be on the truck, my 17' is still close to 1k in CA.

You set up the LLC in a mater of an hr, then buy the truck under the LLC name....

You can finance under the LLC, but your rate will be substantially higher for the RV, mine is. But i take double deductions on it as my Montana LLC leases my RV to my CA LLC and both take the write offs..

You can save close to 10k in taxes just going with the LLC, deduct a few k for setting it up and some of the fees. But in the end it's in the green.

You mentioned it earlier that the truck might see 5-10k miles a year, who cares if you had Montana plates , it's setting at home most of the time.

But you will have to claim the sale price as profit on your taxes..... Unless you structure it....

But but but people on RDP say the CHP is hunting for out of state plates!!

It does not make sense to save $10K while risking a $400 ticket.

You mean the freeloaders in CA state government?

That was a generalized statement regarding my personal feelings about anybody, anywhere, who meets that description of "Freeloader" legally or socially, regardless of how they choose to personally justify it.

Some people are so proud of this repugnant character flaw, they actually brag about it.

$261 on the 2020 1 ton ram for renewal this year. It will be a mute point after May when we move but was our best option the last few years and was really simple to do.

@bldrinker Ill maybe post up some review on the truck maybe this weekend..cell signal will be shit for us. Lot's of snow forecasted so I may be in chain up territory for the passes. I talked to my FIL earlier today..from Feb/Mar this year when I picked it up from the dealer it still only has like 2k miles so its pretty new to us all.

PS you could get this truck for under 50k if you delete the center console and black appearance package.

That blows the Ram Tradesmen all to shit.

That is a lot of truck for the money in these times.
