It's over 400 feet deep just 2 or 3 miles from that spot, even today. Kind of a woopsie.

that area is highly visited how did someone just see them?
The beach in that area is really ugly. Muddy and rocky, and is a long way from the parking lot. Nobody would beach a boat there. They launch, they leave. Day use, non-boaters would go somewhere else.

Seems like the peak almost blocks it though. Two days before it probably looked like a rock. Dunno, but I'd never beach my boat there. I do get you, but trying to understand how it was missed as well.

Oh I see it must have been and accidental discharge while he was gathering his guns lost in a tragic boating accident. 🤔 I could do this detective stuff all day.

Pack it up boys case closed.

I posted that in a vin thread.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I might or might not have been, at various times, stationed at Lake Mead during the time-frame in question. Anyone wanting to discuss this can meet with me at an acid factory of my choosing.

I remember K-Mart back in the 80's, the whole "blue light special" thing, and liking the cafeteria lol....don't remember if they had a specific clothing line though? Like a Roebuck or something Sears would have?
I worked at Kmart around 1980. The cafeteria was the hangout for us employees during break.
Worked with a lot of cool peeps.
Great times. 😁

This was in the LA News Paper this Morning:

Cops: Body in barrel in Lake Mead was man who was shot

LAS VEGAS >> The body found inside a barrel on the newly exposed bottom of Lake Mead after the lake’s level was depleted amid drought is that of a man who was shot, police said Tuesday.

The killing probably happened between the mid-1970s and the early 1980s because the victim was wearing shoes, which were manufactured during that period, said homicide Lt. Ray Spencer, the Las Vegas Review- Journal reported.

The barrel was found Sunday in the Lake Mead National Recreational Area by boaters who informed authorities.

Drought has dropped the water level of Lake Mead on the Colorado River in southern Nevada and northern Arizona so much that Las Vegas’ uppermost water intake became visible last week.

Lake Mead and Lake Powell upstream are the largest human-madereservoirs in the U.S.

Friday I walked right by it. Probably 15-20ft from it. Muddy as shit any closer. Didn't think anything of it. Saw a few more around the bushes as well.

There's kinda proof of both our points ^^^^^^ people actually do go around there, but it doesn't look like anything.

Pretty much. I have come up on these before. No lids full of concrete. Maybe those ones have bodies in them also?

Watched it a few months ago with the kids, it’s not that scary anymore.
The Poltergeist house is just up the street from me, wife's friend grew up in that house. Before she even knew about the movie she said the house was Erie feeling.

Now that people are looking for barrels, I think there will be a lot more.

If the water keeps dropping I’m guessing 26 by season’s end.
The other day I saw quite a few barrels.

If you wanted to sink a barrel with a person in it I would have done it close to the dam. It will always be the deepest part of the lake no matter how low the water level drops. The lake would have to go dry or back to a river through that section before it was discovered. Just sayin.

But sometimes they send divers for maintenance etc..

Hope this person had an escort to their car or they could be in a barrel. 🤪
Nope, just a little less than a a quarter mile from the dam in black canyon. Just like RD said, too many divers checking out shit. But it's deep as shit. I'd think that any of the perpetrators would be most likely to be dead or close to it by now.
