Judging by how corroded that barrel is, whoever killed him is probably dead by now.

What kinda shitty barrel would corrode that fast? I thought those things were 50 years in salt water?

That drum (it isn’t a barrel) is actually kind of strange looking?
The rib count is wrong for most modern 65-85 Gallon overpacks? Or rather the spacing is wrong.
But it is an overpack for sure.
I’ve only ever used 55 gal and (mostly) 85 gal overpacks. But that one seems like it’s bigger and has an extra spaced rib, at least in the picture.

85’s have 3 ribs usually, but the spacing is not quite right?

Does the mob have a "big and tall" section for dump supplies? Seems a bit more classy than the cartels "cut to fit" methods.

Look at the pic again, you can kinda see the third rib. You can also see the hole on the top, so you are right they went in head first.

I’m wondering if they packed him in with some kinda chemicals that eroded the barrel.

Possibly lye, but the clothes and bones look mostly intact.

Having lived in Vegas for over 20 years the number of bodies found in the desert or OTHER areas from folklore "the olden days" or even current days would actually surprise you...it still continues today.

No, 50 is how many post you need before you can PM a member.🤣

Steel and water dont mix. As a body decomposes in water it out gasses oxygen and a few other chemicals. Metal corrodes at an accelerated with oxygen and water touching it. Be interesting to see what they date it. My money is on 20-25 years.

Maybe.
The corrosion is all on one side from what we can see. So it’s likely from being partially settled in the muck over the years.

In my years cleaning up drum burial sites for the DoD we would dig up literally thousands of drums that were buried all over the pacific theater. The ground itself seemed to “rot” the drums more than the contents. Many would look just like that drum. (Minus the body)
Some would look like new, and would still have fuel or solvents or whatever the original contents was. These were all WWII era forward sites, and post war disposal sites.

Seems like it.
I thought the mob cut them up as well though.
I seem to recall something I read, either in English or russian...can't recall if it was KGB or CIA, but it was what bones to break to fold a body into a suit case or other small container. Less blood stains to clean/evidence left if you keep the body whole...

The water is so low right now I bet it’s a couple thousand feet from the high water line of the 80’s , this was for sure not from shore

From what I can find Mead is down 166 feet from it's all time high of 1225, now at 1059.

86'd is the term I always heard for mob burials, 8 miles out, 6 feet under.

I just finished Breaking Bad, so I learned me this -hydrofluoric acid (HF) will not erode plastic, but will erode metal, bones and bodies.

What’s that do for the shoreline water mark?
100’ of depth has to be much more than 100’ of receded shoreline?
I know at Shasta it is.

You would think they would have gone dead center in the middle of the lake... I know the water had dropped significantly over the years. but that seems pretty close to the shoreline even for back in the day if it is exposed now.

When the lake was full it would have been quite a way out to there. Like probably a couple miles.

I'd guess the spot worked pretty well cause whoever did it is probably long dead already.

I guess it depends on the geography of the area, the flat land shoreline recedes a lot more than the hills/canyons do.

I read the water depth is taken at the dam.

I'll be the first.... Jimmy Hoffa!!!!!!
Lol
I watched a special a while back about Hoffa.
There’s no doubt he got killed when he was called to the meeting.
Where the body is will never be known for sure, because of the several actual possibilities every single person swears to god they saw it and know exactly where he was disposed of…and all are completely different stories.
So…who to believe?
At least 2 locations are cemented foundations, one is a now defunct incinerator owned by a friend of the mob, another is a waste disposal site (possibly the most believable) and of course the popular urban legends like giant stadium.
So when different people swear on the Bible to different things it’ll never be known for sure.

They found one bound in a ditched car by the Bluewater Casino last week. Been in the water about a year they think. On the reservation, so not much coverage on it.

Bound or burned, I heard burned. Amazing it took a year to find, lady in a kayak spotted it 3ft below the surface

Wasn't this the same guy that was wanted for murder and was on the run for like a year? If so i saw his wanted picture at road runner on the bar.

Pulled a black SUV out of the water, not sure where but maybe he offed himself? Anyone have more info?

The car belonged to the suspect in a Lakeside homicide that occurred last year (June, 2021). Not burned or bound, as far as I know. And while the car may have been found on the Res, the Sheriff's Office has responsibility and jurisdiction, as it's tied to their case. No identification on the body as of yet. It'll probably be a while for them to get autopsy, dental records or DNA identification.

There's also a massive foundation at Stewart's Point.
