Why so much. My company just bought a couple F150s and they weren't close to 60K. They weren't Platinum either.

Mine was 100 over invoice. It came with every possible option including seat massagers. I didnt even know that the seats did that until i pressed the wrong button one day...lol It was my personal work truck. I traded in three trucks at the time. One was my f250 Platinum Diesel. Wish I would have kept the 250.

I was just going to ask if stealing a car in CA was even a crime.

Actually if the car is worth less than $950, stealing it in CA is only a misdemeanor... courtesy of Jerry Brown and Prop 47.

Dude that sucks man! Sorry I didn’t see this sooner when it was showing here in Peoria. I work for Peoria PD and would have jumped on this for you.

Glad you got it back, it’ll never be the same though. Almost like to when your home is broken into, it just never really feels right anymore and you end up moving. You just feel violated.

I hope SF doesn’t cut you any corners on getting it repaired.

I think OP needs to start a new thread:
"damn stolen truck was found and now my insurance is trying to screw me".

Sorry to hear about the entire deal... anytime anything of mine was stolen its the physical loss, and the feeling of being violated.

Not 100% sure but it seems like maybe the wife had dropped the keys either inside or outside on the ground. She can't find her keys so they probably had them :( Good thing is no other keys were attached as it was just the FOB. The truck has the push button start but the FOB has to be there.

At least the steering column won’t be all fucked up.

No telling what other damage it has incurred at this point.

Thanks and no worries....I think they were just around the Palm Springs area the last few weeks and the locator thing was off. Who knows...maybe they were running drugs back-forth to Phx and S CA thru the I-10 corridor.

Keyless entry cars / ignition have been getting stolen more and more often even with out having the keys.

Last year I attended Def Con in Vegas for some training... it’s a hacking conference held there. For less than $40, I can build this little box deal and get into any keyless vehicle. It’s pretty insane what these guy can create and how easy it is to get past the electronic security wall of the vehicle.

If you’re ever in Vegas during this conference (next one is Aug 2019) I encourage you to go. You’ll be mind blown what these kids are hacking into and how easily.

Wonder if they blew up motor or ran out of gas to leave it sitting there?
.
I stopped giving away my paper dealer plate inserts to random people that just walked in after the police contacted me about a stolen car with them on it once.

I hope they blew the motor up. I dont want the whore truck back...lol. I cant inagine they were driving it around with a broken windshield or drivers side window. Dead give away to be pulled over. If they were driving it like that my guess is they were drugged out. I would think they did that damage after being on the side of the fwy. Just to be malicious or make damage versus prints. Who knows? Scumbags

Assuming a stranger would ask....Why would anybody ask for paper dealer plates unless they were up to no good anyhow.

Its already at the tow yard and nobody mentioned anything like that to me :(

I can't remember what was on the truck below the F150 symbol on the side front panel but whatever it was removed. Both sides it looks like.

Some wanted it for their front plate, others collected from all dealers, all kinds of reasons. I even got letters from kids wanting them, including Europe.

I could use a dealer paper plate, my boat trailer that is 14 years old, has never been registered in Ca. Bought the boat and trailer new in Havasu and it stays in at Emerald Cove. I haul it up to Havasu Springs occasionally.
I'm not about to take it to the DMV for an inspection.. Ain't nobody got time for that..

I’m thinking I would have felt violated when paying $60K + for it!

Other than that, thieves suck.

The latest...

Call the insurance co today to let them know I will be back tomorrow...

Said they have some bad news. Since last week they have been trying to find my truck. Whoever they engaged to tow to the Ford Dealer from the impound dropped it off. However, now they are being told they name of the person that signed for the truck is not with the Ford Dealership and in fact they do not have an employee with that name. Lol

Edit...One more thing to add which I forgot to type. The State Farm appraiser has been on site twice and been told they dont have the truck.

Honestly, I have to inagine its got to be there somewhere BUT with someone signing for the truck and they claim they have no idea who this person and dont have the truck is making this totally bizarre. Stolen twice???? Damn

And the beat goes on ;)

They finally found the truck at the dealership. I have no idea how they got so confused....knuckleheads

Going to go by and look at it tomorrow and see if everything adds up repair wise.

Lots of personal belongings in the truck.....clothes, tools, pillows, blankets, etc. They said it smells like shit in the truck like someone was living in it.

Can't do any mechanical tests yet as they don't have a key. I will take one and see what we get upon startup.

Should be considered hazardous waste.

I'm pretty sure there should be a "human shit clause" in every insurance plan. No one should be expected to take a truck back if another adult human has shit in it.

One of the things along with burnt herion I found in the truck. Lots of residue and possible throw up in the truck. F me!

Photo albums, personal items, a check made out to someone in New Mexico, etc. if the police would have done any kind of investigation they could get this guy. Shit if I wanted to I could. His photo album had pics of himself and others. Looked like a wannabe gangster. I threw it all away.

Its a shame because I bet a lot of stuff in the truck would prove other crimes. Of course grand theft auto isnt serious right?

Thats my Maui Jim case minus the Maui Jim glasses with the needles and yes that vial is labled some kind of vet/dog vaccine. There was another for Parvo that was empty.

What street drug is clear liquid that you inject? Possibly some kind of drug put in there instead of the vet stuff?

Any bodily fluids etc in that truck and it is a haz mat. Boat PI was on the money about a black light exam.
And you are right about the lack of effort put into the investigation. All of that crap should have been pulled by the investigating officer and either disposed of in ha mat spike tubes or tagged as evidence for followup (the pics)
You are also right about California...it is lost. This kind of stuff will continue because the system is set up to allow it to do so.
Accountability and personal responsibility are no longer considered important nor required as citizens.
The crooks know it.
It's damn near a free for all out there.

Bullshit.

I'd be calling the cop shop who took the recovery and asking for the Sgt. Tell them you want some spike tubes to take the damn rigs outta your truck so you can haul them to the hospital to dispose of them, or perhaps they can take the damn things...liek they should have...

I already threw it all away at the body shop that has the truck.

It was CHP that found the truck in Indio. You think I should call them to file a complaint? It sat at the body shop for about 10 days until I was back to go look it over.

If the inside of the truck tests positive for methamphetamine residue that will total the truck, the insurance company will not be willing to replace the entire interior including dash and HVAC. Houses get red tagged for residue on the walls, sometimes it's so bad that they have to strip it down to studs. Have it checked.

I would call and ask to talk to the watch commander there. Have your case number handy. Tell them what you found and that you don't believe it is your responsibility as a citizen to have to search your recovered stolen and remove evidence and haz mat stuff that is also evidence of criminal activity from it.
half-assed police work. pisses me off.

Thats a very good point. They were definitly cooking herion to liquify and inject at a minimum. There was foil with burnt residue/ash left behind.
