Health insurance is the one that is toughest for us going forward. Since 08' or 09 or whenever the dems Hillary/Obummer fucked it all up. Gas in our area of Ca is 4.67 today, up from a week or so ago. It was close to 5 bucks a gallon at the end of 2007 so pre current inflation gas prices were way worse back then at the end of the George W era. We almost never get fast food but do shop healthy and food is now big bucks even with an empty nest. I remember a gallon of milk in Hawaii back in the 80's/ 90's was super expensive and wonder how it compares to milk in Ca today. 2016-2019 were the best recent years in relation to this stuff prior to the scamdemic from my perspective. I have a part time 14 or so hour per week semi retired guy who is below medicare age but gets anything he needs healthcare wise including chiropractor ... such a joke that it actually pays to be poor and unmotivated now.

Does anyone actually know C-ya?
I am just wondering if he really is the big baller he says he is.
I offered to get him the phone number for the home he says he wants to buy but he never responded.
I have no idea, that's why I am asking.

I've talked to him on the phone a number of times. His wife too. He's one of the nicest guys I know. 👍🏼

I am a positive person……. About to make a negative post. Lol

I follow a lot of threads. When I see a boat insurance thread with people bitching about the high price of boat insurance, I realize that my boat insurance is triple, whatever number is being bitched.

When I look at an auto insurance thread. My auto insurance is double the bitched about price.

When I see people bitching about their property taxes, mine are always higher.

Medical insurance is ridiculous.

The insurance for my condo building has gone from $225K to 600k in just 2 years. My personal policy for my individual condo unit has gone from $1900 per year to $6000.

I have plenty of reasons to bitch……… but I would rather not.

So here is something I will share about myself, that some of the members already know. I generally pay for everything when out with friends. Why? It’s because I know that I am doing very well and those I hang out with are not as fortunate as I am. I absolutely will not except a boat gas donation for any reason whatsoever. My best friend has not had to pay a breakfast, lunch, or dinner bill in 5 years.

When I had my home in Parker, I never ever charged anyone to stay there. And I kept the place well stocked with food, drink, and toys at my expense.

Some have taken advantage of my good will. 2 totaled golf carts. 3 totaled jet ski’s, and huge hole in my boat, are just a few of the ways I have been repaid. This comes under the saying…….. No good deed goes unpunished.

So now I am taking heat because some don’t think that I show enough anger and rage over the current economy. I easily could do that. The first few sentences of this post are enough reason, but why?

I would rather try to lift everyone up, rather than allow myself to become down about something I cannot control.

Since I am on a roll…….

I refuse to be part of the political posts. This may be your hobby, but IT IS NOT MINE. I hate to break the news, but you get to make your voice heard every 2 years when you get the opportunity to vote. Anything in between is just the bullshit called Political Theater, all designed to keep you angry, so you will continue to watch. It’s really that simple. Some of you seem to think your bitching will change those facts. It won’t. My advice to those mired in this life……… Try to find something positive about the world, everyday. It’s out there if you take the time to look. I swear……. It’s not all doom n gloom.

To sum up my post……….

I truly wish the best for all the members of RDP. Please try to find something positive today. I am going to lunch.

Some of the responses in this thread remind me of Biden when he was talking about inflation he said something to the effect that yes prices are too high but people can afford it. Just because you can afford to pay exorbitant prices doesn't make it ok. I can afford to pay $5 for diesel but why should I have to? Because my asshat Gov. thinks he's saving the planet? But then blames the oil companies for "price gouging". This is the mindset that pisses me off because for every one that can there are 100 that are having to decide whether to put that $50 in their tank or if they should spend it elsewhere. There are hard decisions having to be made in order to strike a balance between food and fuel and shelter. And why? The boogie man that is "climate change". These fucks who cause this don't even drive and they get rich off the system/government and we all pay for it.

This is it right here. I would like to build wealth instead of giving twice as much for something that was sold for half just a year or less ago. The gauging is real.

Something I hear allot is "You need to charge more to keep up" so I tried that angle. Went from 14 HOA's we regularly worked in down to 7. Not the outcome I was looking for. Nobody cares really, especially those that can't easily be financially hurt because everything seems to be currently in good shape for them. My life and lifestyle is changing and is not looking to me it's for the better currently.

I for one find the entire thread absolutely comical.
Not zeroing in on anyone in particular.
Reading about the plight of the struggling RDP middle class is a real hoot!!!😂😂😂
One thing is for certain, C-Ya never bitches…no argument there.
So in the spirit of equality, here we go.
The horror…the horror…

@C-Ya , my list for the day ;)

Wife, kids and myself all woke up today, were able to eat breakfast before heading out.

Just got back from first job of the day, and my breakfast was waiting.

Sun is shining, light breeze, and supposed to be about 80 today.

Fall is coming quick, changes the smell in the air in the mornings.

No doctors appointments today for anyone in the house.

Everything costs something. Time, money, effort, etc. People can appreciate of complain about the costs, but hopefully they appreciate what they have. I wish things were cheaper, but the reality is things will always be more expensive than they were. My parents spoke of gas at .25 a gallon. I remember paying .98 at USA Gas on Arrow Hwy...and I'm not that old.

I remember Walking to the gas station with a one gallon gas can, to get gas for my friends mini bike.

The gas was dark purple back then.

💜

The quarter in my pocket, filled that gallon gas can up. 👍🏼

Your alot like Holy Moly. He has the desire to meet everyone and I have to say I am a bit envious of anyone that does.

Unfortunately I'm a bit opposite and enjoy the loner mentality.

Yeah right...

I've been to parties at your house, on your boat, and at the river.

They were ALL well attended.

Maybe cause You were doing the cooking?? 🤤

So, you’re telling me that when people engage in political discussions and change someone’s mind as to how they vote every 2 years, it doesn’t make a difference?

I remember those days! One night, I put a few gallons in my Chevelle to get to some party. I got my gas and discovered I had forgotten my wallet. I remember the gas station guy was pissed. We scrounged through the car and our pockets for spare change and barely had enough, haha.

Mostly all orchestrated by my wife. Thats when she says, hey babe (babe is the warning word) will you cook for 20 people?

I like to take long walks with my dog and say I'll be right back. If they allowed him at the bar we would drink together. If someone came up to join us he would growl.

Perfect. :D

You both are always positive and thoughtful. The majority of people on this site are severely lacking your qualities. Cheers to you both.

Good that you believe you're changing people's points of view lol

Yea, not all of the mentally challenged are accommodating.

I think sometimes it's just not something they can actually comprehend. I don't look down on them though, I stay positive! 👍

I ignored you based on some of your posts. The above post reinforces my decision. I have no desire to interact with you on any personal level. Sorry for the negativity.
It's funny you reply to many of my posts, like this one and the one where I stated you should call the owner of the property that you say you so desperately want to buy. You say you are sending them letters but don't know if they are getting them.
But the second someone offers you contact info if you can give a detailed address you go radio silent.
I personally would jump at the opportunity to gain wanted info from someone, even if I didn't like said person.
That's why I question you.

Don't worry, I'm still an asshole at heart. Old habits die hard ;)

There's enough negativity bearing down on everyone right now, I see it everywhere. People are at a breaking point at times...myself included. This thread is (mainly) about finances, but political issues, world affairs and such are on everyone. That's in addition to the "normal" stuff we don't think about, the non banking side of "work", family, relationships, etc. Everyone has a lot on their plate, no matter the tax bracket.

I find something positive every single day while I'm having my morning coffee. Life is good and I'm grateful. Don't let the bastards get you down.

Same time of day, 7 am about 6 weeks later. Above is early July, below is late August. Nature is beautiful and honest.

In a couple of months, this will be my morning coffee view. Like I said, I'm grateful every day for life's blessings.

Tough to disagree with that, but an informed populace is one that is tougher to fool AND a populace that demands change.

Lumber is down to pre covid prices. But a lot of stuff isn't.

The vinyl floor I use a lot is $2.19 it peaked at $3.79 but was $1.79 pre covid.

I am on the final stages of a 800 sq ft ADU raised foundation build. $240K just the building no hardscape or driveway. No permit fees. He had bids in the 3-400k range. Gave him a break as he has done my HVAC for 25+ years.

Doing a 600 sq ft addition around $200K not including permits or fees.

Bathrooms I used to bid at 18k pre covid are 32k. And I have customers getting bids in the 50k range that don't want to wait.

Roofs are crazy priced 11-1500 a sq for composition.
Speaking of construction costs, I looked at an 32” exterior metal door and it was double what it was a couple years ago. $260 for a flat panel prehung door. I think I’m just gonna build one myself.

I have a 32 I bought and didn't use. Paid 285. It sells for 560 plus tax. Has the blinds built in. Probably overkill for a shed unless you are working in the shed and need natural light.

Those blank steel ones used to be $100 plus tax before covid. I might have a solid one I will check. Lowes put all the doora on clearance few months ago and I bought like 20 or so. This is what the ones with blinds look like if you need 1.

Looks good but I’m hoping to find one that swings the other way (out) to not hinder inside storage.

I will respond to some of the posts a little later.

Right now……… I have a funny story about lunch today, that in some ways, has ties to this thread. LOL

Sometimes we are delivered a message. Maybe from god? A higher power? Or Karma? LOL

So here is my question to you guys……… Does what is below sound like something I should be concerned about?

After finishing my lunch today……….. My Belt Snapped.

Do you think a higher power is telling me to cut back? (It should be noted that I also went out to breakfast today) I do eat out a lot. Good food, bad food, fast food, I don’t care……. I’ll eat it!

I’ll admit, I suffer a little from Dickey Doo Disease. (That’s were my stomach sticks out further my my dickey doo)

Or Dunlop Disease (that’s where my stomach dun lopped over my belt)

The good news is that I discovered my Rap name today……… Busta Seam

I think I will start a dieting thread……. lol

If @C-Ya and @monkeyswrench made a a digital spirit animal, I would adopt one. I also appreciate @regor and @was thatguy making me think. The power of RDP is access to a wide selection of experienced people.

Thank you everyone who participates, without the engagement of the membership this is just a search engine for old content.

Appreciate that Wood.👍

I get that people want to stay positive, I truly do, but I feel like they're asking me to pull the wool over my eyes and not pay attention to everything around me.

This nation was not founded by men and women who stayed positive, it was founded by men and women who were pissed off. If you're not pissed off at this point, you're not paying attention or you simply just don't care. I do and I can't be quiet.

I see the destruction of the middle class all around and to simply dismiss it due to solutions that are out of your control, is a disservice to everyday Americans who are truly struggling in some of the worst times in our nation's history IMO.

Regor, I would probably be more receptive of you and your posts if you were not a “one trick pony”. We never hear about any sort of boat you own. We never hear about your river house. We never hear about your RV. We never hear about your SxS. We never hear about your vacations. You just beat the same drum over and over and over and over and over again. I personally have never ever clicked on one of your links. Mainly because based on all your hijacks, I am pretty sure what a mind numbing experience that is.

What we do get is one thread hijack after another. ”Here comes Regor, AGAIN, ready with his memes and other parroted information, ready to do everything in his power to redirect the thread into his favorite hobby” ad-nauseum. I think that you are so rapped up in your favorite hobby, that you cannot even see what you are doing, or do not care. It’s just another thread hijack.

Also…….. Don’t kid yourself on the fact that you like discusssion. What you like is calling others names and putting whatever “label”your preconceived notion is about them. You have already put several “labels” on me in this thread. You are not a nice guy in my eyes. So argumentative…….. it’s ridiculous.

From this point forward…….. I am going to just ignore you. I‘ve said what I wanted to say. This might come as a surprise…… but I actually feel sorry for you. Maybe if you took a step back, some of those friends that stopped contacting you will come back into the fold. I say this because you are not the only one to go off the deep end……. I have an Uncle that could easily be your brother. Lol. My entire family is sick and tired of him ruining our family get togethers with his conspiracies, Qnon, and other endless babble. We just want to get together in peace.

Good luck to you Regor……. Christmas is on Nov 5 this year.

Ok Regor or his henchmen……… Blast away. Don’t forget to call me names and put another label on me. That is what you specialize in…….

One thing I do know about Regor that you will never read on here is his charitable side that would make most of you blush in shame.
He never brags and he never shows off…even though he easily could. He doesn’t post what his house (houses?) are worth, or his dock, or his cheeseburger, or what he spent on dinner…not that I’ve ever seen anyway.
He never wavers, and is a patriot above all else.

If that’s a “one trick pony” I’d say it’s a better trick than most peoples.

That’s all I’ll say about it.

Now for the important stuff, and this reminded me.

Are we getting snow this year on the site?

🤣 🤣 🤣 ;)
Maybe he should make it rain little pumpkins and turkeys, we can cover all the seasons.🤣

That just reminded me of Les Nessman of WKRP in Cincinnati dropping turkeys out of the helicopter, “ oh the humanity”🤣

Just ignore me folks. I’m here just to entertain myself.😵‍💫

Can we resume the whining and complaining rather than attacking each other? FWIW, C-Ya never attacks anyone. He seems like generally a nice guy. I see absolutely no reason for anyone to say anything negative about him, and those that do, I see you in a dimmer light than before. You're only making yourself look bad. And it's annoying. Grow up.

The thread title is about inflation. The federal debt now stands at over $35 Trillion. THAT is the root cause of inflation, and NEITHER party has addressed it, and that includes you too, Trump.

Until the electorate demands fiscal accountability, inflation is here to stay and no amount of pissing and moaning will do a dam thing about it. You want real cuts in government spending? That means cuts in social security, Medicare, defense, social programs, etc. I stand ready to feel some pain for the good of our children and country. How about you?

You're damn right about Trump, he spent like a whore. Biggest failure of his time in office IMO.

I hope he gets in for a 2nd term, if he doesn't cut massively, I'll be the first to call him out. I'm hoping with no possibility of a 2nd term, he'll bring the knife!!!!

You know that won’t happen lol. He’s gonna spend like never before. 😆

People don’t know how to manage money longer than a day.
They certainly don’t know or understand the concepts, to be rich, and life time inflation.
You have to have money in the bank, and an income larger than your monthly bills to be anything other than an idiot (and there are a lot out there).

Government has a per diem we use to base the cost of a day on the road. For Phoenix it’s $59 a day for meals, and $159 for lodging.

That’s $6500 a month to live a decent life, without transportation in Phoenix.

There is also a transportation schedule, to help plan those expenses.

Anything left out of that goes into savings/investments/entertainment.

You can budget tighter, and save more, increasing your monthly income.

By the time you hit 65-70 y/o, you should have 10 times your monthly expenses in retirement savings to have a successful retirement, and should cover most expenses, including medical/Dental.

Of coarse you need to be healthy to enjoy it. 😮😁👍

Something is way off with what you wrote.. 10 times your monthly expenses for retirement? You planning on living 9-10 months? lol

How about we start by cutting all government benefits / spending to all illegal aliens? Then we cut the fat and bureaucracy out of most government agency’s, and eliminate the unnecessary ones. Cut welfare and really crack down on fraud.

Then we take a look at the financial situation after all of that is done, and if still necessary, then yes time to move on to the ones you’ve listed.

You spelled other countries wrong.
