So what kind of speeds did you see at DS with the current set up? And what do you expect to see with the new prop?

What's the specs on the new prop? I think I remember hearing the v-drive was 1:1. I wouldn't expect to see huge speeds out of that boat without a major upgrade in power and adding gear to it. Who cares though? It's big awesome cruiser. [emoji106]

It is a .9 in the box. I hear gears are very hard to come by for a C-500.

I'm not expecting big speeds. Just needs to be not last to arrive, by an hour. :)

She is, no doubt, ol girl even has a couch. :)

There was a Custom Cruiser similar UCH for sale in TN. I think that had a TT540 that made 1100HP. Went a blistering 80MPH.

That ended any idea I had of putting any power to it.

C500 gears are hard to find and expensive. Is your C500 braced? They typically wobble a bit at idle, this is tough on the output flange. It wallows it out and can allow the prop shaft to come out under deceleration. I braced mine and had the prop shaft drilled and tapped. Then you put a bolt through the output flange into the prop shaft. The only thing holding it there now is a couple set screws.

Not yet. That is on the list of things to build. That whole box program is goofy.

If it's under driven now (.9) then I think you can flip the gears and make it over driven. 10% over might be just perfect for what you want.

No idea, I'll have to inquire about that, but something tells me it can't be that simple.

With standard split case Casale's it's that simple. I haven't really played with C-500's, but hopefully you can give em the old fliperoo and be set!

when you move the gears around you need to reset the spacers to get the proper clearance/crush. I would probably make 4 new spacers that way you can swap back if you don't like it.

I've never done anything with a c-500 but i imagine it's the same as a split case, you just have 1 gasket instead of two. If you want to pick someone's brain you can call me and i'll put you on the phone with old man grumpy :p He's the v-drive expert, he will tell you what your clearances need to be. Basically it works by moving the gears forward makes them tighter, moving them back makes them looser, you kinda set that with the front spacers. Rear spacers keep the gears from floating backwards, and there is a tolerance there that includes the thickness of the gasket back to the bearing inner race.

One change at a time if I can help it.

I am pretty sure UCH is going to at minimum need a set of bearings, after this water test I will know for sure.

Why didnt it happen?

Weather was looking bad last night and this morning and I figured if I brought the boat to the shop the prop wouldn't show. If I didn't bring the boat, it would be here at 9.

It was here at 9:30. Weather turned out marginal. Go figure. :)

I have your hatch actuator Brian, can't get it to you for weeks. If anyone is leaving the SFV for Brian's neighborhood I can meet you to hand off for Brian.
