Funny! I got a quote coming in a bit for some Toyo's haha!

Only decent brand ...actually the only company that is still making 13's that my buddy could find, he'll be calling me with a quote in a few.:D

The Toyos I found and the other 13" tires were tires for Legend and other racecars. Nothing that was a "street" tire.

I am thinking I will machine a retro style set of wheels in a modern size over the winter.

What's the resistance to running those Toyo's? Not enough weight capacity?

I'd imagine you'd replace them for age versus wearing them out on a trailer.

They are super sticky race car tires pronie. Perhaps you didn't look at them too hard.

They are also $150 each, for a stroller tire.

I would need to replace them all regardless.

The wheels look like they are 7 in wide, from memory, a 185 would be a stretch on anything wider than a 6 in wheel.

Judging from how hard tires are to get, I am resolved to option 3 and save that project for the winter.

I do appreciate your efforts, and everyone else who reached out. I have said it many times, this site is the best.

Shag carpet will be the next hurdle.

Brian

I found these Brian, they might work if you are willing to replace them all...still waiting on my friend, but I am thinking he's gonna quote the race tires.

Yea the spec on them says a 6" is max. I'll let you know if I can come up with anything else tomorrow.

My bad, after looking them up, those are barely useable for the street.
At first glance, I thought they were just a high-performance DOT tire.

Yep, I found those when I first looked around. I laughed to myself thinking how funny would that be to motor those around.

For the fuel tanks..... even though it's not USCG approved, I thought about getting a fuel tank selector valve from an older Ford or GM truck and use it instead of the insanely expensive IMCO valve.

Those tires are for a Miata, weight could be a concern.

you mean something like this, it's supposed to be marine certified
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171090...7290-0%26rvr_id%3D1010817438417&ul_noapp=true
this is what I run on my boat and haven't had any issues so far.

The eBay one says specifically not for marine use which I'm guessing is probably just because it isn't USCG approved. But.... yes, that's what I'm referring to.

... Were it me I would use the $10 mechanical switch over... I have had several electric switch overs fail in motorhomes...
...Granted it could be considered a pain in the ass to have to lift the engine hatch and reach down to change the mechanical switchover but better than sitting in the middle of the lake with no fuel because your electric switch over failed...

Plus one on the motorhome tank switch failure. That was an expensive lesson on a $2 glass fuse.

...lol... Got away with the fuse once...Two other times it was the switchover...I was using a switchover from I guess late 70s crew cab dully's... I think they were about $18 at the time...

I have a mechanical valve now. I have to flip up my rear seat to access it. When I have a boat full of people it can be quiet difficult to maneuver around them and flip the switch over. It could very well be worth carry an extra one and occasionally have to change that vs have to deal with moving people around everyday.

Just use one of these as stated in a previous post... mechanical override in case of an electrical failure :thumbsup

I was right, the only tires available to us around here in 13 are the Toyo race tires and the Cooper Trendsetters in 185/70/13.

You should be able to get the Coopers near where you are Brian, my buddy says they run about 50-60 each.

Cheap as a temporary solution until you can make your own wheels in a modern size :thumbsup

When the motorhome type go bad they default to the top port so what you do is always run off of the bottom port first so if it fails while your running you still have gas and you know you have to change it out , I keep a spare one under my seat LOL

They need to be small and shallow to fit between the hull sides and outside of the stringers. Remember, it is a V-drive boat, there's no room for a center belly tank.

... My Hallet flat has a manual right under the front seat ...when the boat sputters I shut the motor off reach down with out getting out of my seat, switch it over and restart the boat... Easy Peasy...

... My Sanger Runner feeds off of both tanks simultaneously so it is a non-issue... I carry a round wooden dowel to stick the tanks to see where I'm at...

... My Omega day cruiser has a manual switch over close to the transom and not particularly easy to reach...I lift the lid to the motor cover reach down, nothing to burn myself on... and switch it over...

... My Spectra 24 for the life of me at the moment I can't remember how that is set up???... It'll probably come to me later this afternoon... Too lazy to uncover the boat and look...

Some enduro -drives use a belly tank in front of the v-drive. I believe they get 25-30 gallons out of it :thumbsup

I fitted the port tank over the weekend. I got a bit greedy on the tank size when I measured them. The fiberglass tanks had a slight draft to them. :grumble:

I should have made them 1/2 shorter. Sigh.

Forgot about the flange to mount the tank sender, so I made that Saturday and welded it in Sunday.

Starboard tank fitment is going better since I have an idea what to do, but it still takes time. Berth is all cleaned up and ready.

Getting a driveshaft made, hopefully that will be ready this week.

Still need to change all the fluids, plugs, caps, neovane. See about some type of Bimini, get a spare tire. Batteries......Running out of time for Desert Storm.

I drained the oil and got 4 quarts (max) of very old oil(out of a 12-14 quart pan :yikes). That worries me, terribly.

12-14 qt? Holy shit, that thing must be huge! I thought 10 qt pans were plenty big.....
