Check the batch # as some go for more than others.

The value will not lose money the longer you keep it. It’s been this way for a long time on the secondary market.
I think, from what I have been told, the proof indicates the year. No batch # on the bottles that I know of. But I'm in no way a great source of info on this.

I’m surprised as hell with this and for $25 even better. Taste like a hotter/spicer blantons. It’s distilled by Buffalo trace

Had this last night. It was decent. Brought it to a party. Others must have liked it because it didn't make it home.

I always buy cask strength if it's available 👍

McCallan used to make a cask strength scotch, it was awesome, i wnet through several bottles, it was around 80 a bottle, One of the best Scotch of all time. They discontinued it when they shifted away from aged lines several years back.

Bottles are $2,500 now 🤦🤦🤦🤦

Went to my whiskey guys store and he handed me this. I was looking for something to share with some great friends on the evening Christmas.

Nice, can I come over? I prefer it over the 20yr. I have 2 bottles of 18 left, Heaven Hill is my top 3 distillery’s.

I tried to buy a case of Hancock but I was told no. 2 bottles instead.

I got it for $170. I will let you know how it is once we crack it. Per my whiskey guy it’s an amazing pour.
$170? That’s a steal. Last time I found it for 170 I bought 5 bottle form some crap whole liquor store in LA. When I see it now it’s at $300+

I only buy from one guy in town. He may not have the huge selections that other stores do, but he gives me great deals and always has a surprise behind the counter for me when I come in.

Can’t get any better than that. The 18 is a great drink and worth the 170 price. If I had 1 thing to say about it. Wish it was a tad stronger proof for a 18yr.

As I understand it, because they are a market they can’t or won’t mark it up.
Then those Pappy's are not out of touch then.... I paid $400 the 12yr lot B for my father when he turned 65 6 yrs ago. Its good, but I wouldn't pay more than that on the 2nd market. Haven't tried any of others....

I'm in a raffle to buy Pappy now for retail, all the years are available plus some Handy and Stag... Will see if I get picked for anyone of them come end of February 🤞.

A couple people in my office got me my first bottle of Blanton’s Gold for Christmas. Wonder is it’s like the regular Blaton’s.

Anyone have any feedback? This is the bar at work.

I’m getting into this tonight. It was a gift from a buddy. Has anyone tried it? I definitely don’t have the bourbon experience that some of you gents have.

Hey guys, first time posting in this thread so please don’t flame me😁 I’ve been mostly a beer drinker all my life but have been experimenting with bourbon the last few years especially in my basement man cave during the long Pa winters. Wifey bought this for me as a Christmas gift. Just finished my second tasting.
Pretty strong at 122 proof especially for my novice palate. Very strong vanilla aroma and hints during the actual taste. Would love to hear what someone with a more refined bourbon taste thinks.

My wife and I made friends with the chef at our favorite restaurant, so I got invited to a private bourbon tasting dinner last night with the mayor and other members in the community. What a hell of a dinner and experience. The mayor hosted and brought his private stock. Extremely knowledgeable on the history of bourbon in general, and had facts on each bottle. The chef put together a menu based on the bourbon notes of each sample.

This was my first time doing something, so I pretty much just watched what others did and tried not to make an ass of myself. Great convo, great people, great food, and great bourbon. I enjoyed the E.H. Single Barrel the most, but all were good.

That’s quite the line-up, and the food looks great too! I’m a big EH Taylor fan and ending with some Blanton’s - nice!

How is TX treating yah? Settling in well?

We’re enjoying it so far. Definitely a different pace of life which has been a nice change. But trying to figure out the next chapter of boating. And how about you? Are you guys enjoying the move? I know there’s been challenges along the way - we’ve had many too.

I really enjoyed fall and winter, as did the pups. The jury is still out for my wife. :) The house is 99% dialed in, so that's been a relief. The bugs are back in force, but all will be well as long as they stay outside. Hoping for a quiet tornado season. Everyone at the dinner last night laughed when I brought tornados up and said they would be way more scared of earthquakes... I don't get it haha

Good to hear that you’re all dialed in. I agree with you, the weather here has been a nice change, with the exception of the ice storm back in February. We’re farther south then you guys so a bit less prone to tornados but it’s still exciting when the warnings are announced. I could do with a few less bugs though, lol!!

Tonight’s bourbon/rye, we’re going with the 18 year Sazerac Rye. Pretty darn smooth for a rye IMO. We also opened up a 12 year Weller. A bit hotter for those who enjoy that. 👍

A little something my buddy is working on. Its a 4 grain bourbon… Corn Barley Wheat with a hint of Rye, to spice it up. With out the Rye… at 130 proof its way to smooth, like 60 proof smooth. So he added the Rye back in, to give some spice, to make you drink it slower.

Some yes, some are ok..
These guys do not produce bourbon.

They go to all of the bourbon distrillerys, and barrell tasted all the different barrels, and buy what they think are the best barrels of that batch.

Then they age them longer, or double oak them or finish them in wine barrells etc Etc ..

Some are awesome. Some are not worth the money.. but every batch came from a different distillery or timeframe/batch.

But thats my opinion. Gotta try for yourself.

My favorites have been Voyages 19, 22, 25 and the newest Voyage 29. They are all a wheated mashbill (Pappy, Weller), very smooth with a bit of sweetness.
