Please don’t lynch me...I still have my single barrel bourbons.
BUT...I’ve now been schooled in the ways of good scotch....
It’s next level.

That seems harsh.
Its a BOURBON THREAD…. Not a Scotch thread…. See where I am headed…

AND I am just having fun….

To each there own, If he likes Scotch, then he can drink all the scotch he wants.

I dont drink scotch or gin… other than that, I am a whore.

But thats me.

OWE….
I am thinking of having a Bourbon Tasting event at my house in Murrieta in the near future…

I will supply some good grub… take a look at the river recipes threads, and we can figure out what to cook..

But I am thinking… that I host. Supply some grub…
all that show up, bring a bottle of bourbon to “TASTE”…

Maybe do a blind taste test…

This will happen sooner rather than later, if it happens.

I accept your blind taste challenge.

AWE, so you local enough to Murrieta…
Glad to hear it….
It will be a pleasure to put a face to these posts….
I’m local to anywhere...that’s kind of my thing.
But be warned, nearly everyone that meets me is disappointed...a lot.

Owe, Its my lucky day.
Wow…
Extremely smooth, maybe to smooth.

Hints of cinnamon, good caramel/vanilla, great oak flavor,

Holy shit, this is a contender…

Blantons.
A guy walked in to The Joint & bought a shot of it for everyone at the bar.

My favorite now. Fantastic stuff. Never tasted anything so smooth and full of flavor.

Bar owner Neil says none available through the distributor. Can’t buy it retail off sale to pour it on sale either in Cali.

I used to buy Blantons for $39.99 when no one knew what it was.
Xmas, I would 4-5 bottles as gifts, because everyone who knew me, knew it was the best value bourbon.

Today… fuck… local store wants $249.99 for a bottle… laughing my ass off….

Blantons is a great bourbon, but not at that price… I will put the bottle of Russells above side by side in a blind taste test.

Again, thats my opinion.

I was able to buy 5 bottles of Blantons last summer near my Tennessee home. $99 a bottle. I just need LNS to complete the set. I have drank one bottle. I hope my source is still good when I return in the spring.

Russell’s is always a descent drink for a low cost. I didn’t care for the single barrel though.

I’m trying to find the 13 yr. I heard from an acquaintance that is good. Just very pricy.

In Cali bar owners have to buy through distributors. They can’t “front door” it from the retail store.
Whole different tax structure.

One sip and Blantons had me.
Maybe good it’s hard to get around these parts.

If you like Blantons that much. Look for a bottle of Handcock Reserve, same mash bill. Wasn’t hard to find a year ago. But if you come across it (retail price) don’t pass it up.

you can buy those empty bottles on Craigslist. Lol.

Now throw some Buffalo trace in there.
I just checked ebay. People are paying $150 for the empties. Holy crap. I am selling this thing. I am definitely more of a drinker than a collector. This bottle was from 2007 before the price went nuts.

We really enjoy Michter’s Bourbon! I have not tried the American Whiskey or the Rye.

I am still hunting my Jack Daniels Coy Hill to no avail, but in October on my trip to the UK, I was able to get a Booker's from duty free which used to be a regular on my wall, but for many years has been difficult to come by at retail price. I am done with work for the year on Friday and plan to start with this guy the moment the laptop shuts.

Much much needed. For 2 reasons. It’s the best thing to fight covid and eases the stress.

For me Old forester and Heaven Hill make the best bourbon/Whisky

Christmas dram.

Highest proof I’ve had. Really good, dark rich Carmel, cinnamon, peppermint.

How long will bourbon stay good in a unopened bottle?
Unopened and the cork is still good. Forever, is not like wine and it turns to vinegar.

These are called dustys. So what do you have that’s not opened?
