Not arguing that point. or a twin turbo Cammer in a galaxie. But that twin screwd boss 351 just cost you what 2 or 3 500 hp ls3 would cost. And probably suffer more headache with it. For true car guys old school is cool. But if you just want to daily something and not have to worry about it, the late model stuff is the way to go.
That Galaxie that you did is still one of the sweetest cars ever. 😀

I can't argue the cost of a junker LS combo from the scrapper. and Bonez is right about what it costs to build an older engine these days.

what I disagree with is taking an old car and making it behave like a new one. I understand, that is a matter of personal preference but I am staunchly against it and believe it shouldn't be done period.

however, I also understand that would make the car community a much smaller one. As somebody who doesn't depend on that group for a living, I don't have a problem with that but I can understand why Bonez position would be what it is.

At the end of the day quality work is what we can all agree on. The rest is just us all taking jabs at eachother while arguing which car is the best in show.

Yep, kinda guessed that. Good data.

I don't build anything that I could turn a profit on 🤣 just too much wrapped up in anything I build for myself. Everything I have seen @bonesfab turn out has been show stopper quality.
My problem is I don't know when to stop on my own shit. I have a reeaaaalllly nice 65 elcamino I put together with intentions of flipping it. But I have way more into it then I should and it's an Elcamino. They are a harder sell and just don't bring the money. It is a full frame off, powder coated chassis, wilwoods, vintage air, Dakota dash, power windows. Actually got it out and fixed the oil leak. Shop girl decided she wants to drive it on powertour coming up so going to put some miles on it and work what ever bugs come up out hopefully before we leave.

Some fresh paint work coming out of the paint shop. We finished this truck a few years ago He messed up a front fender on the side of his garage door. It was a custom color with ghost flames. Well the color wasn’t quite right the first time. This time it came out bad ass.

I will let her drive just about anything. When she gives me a ride to pick up a car, I don't have to use the imaginary brake pedal on the passenger side. Her dad has a GTR she gets to drive on occasion. He also has his grandfathers original early 50's wagon that is all original. He is more into motorcycles. He has a Rg500 and others. But he should not have a tool box. Her grandfather had the mechanical ability.

Somebody is tired of seeing LSs in absolutely everything. Somebody believes in actually trying to preserve the soul of a vehicle. 😉

If vehicles have souls, they want to be used, and run, not tinkered with in the garage :)

You don’t need to know how to tune. A laptop, a WiFi connection, and guy 3 time zones away who knows how to tune. The drive ability and reliability is unbelievable. That said, I’m excited to see more and more Coyote and Godzilla platform swaps as the LS deal is becoming boring.

The problem is and has always been, why spend more to go slower? Hot Rodding has always been about the path of least resistance for speed and power.

The Godzilla is a heavy truck engine. The Coyote has potential, but is huge, hard to package and expensive.

LS engines are popular because they work, fit in about everything, and are cheap. But if someone wants to spend more time and money to go slower or have a different look or sound, go for it.

I’ll never LS swap my classics. It removes their soul. Nothing against the LS fanboys, they’re great motors, just not my style.

What’s the plan for the Cadillac?

I might know of a clean 66’ on bags for sale soon 😉

Just looked up your website. You have a lot of personal projects 🤣 my buddy has a bus like you have. It's chopped and tubbbed. We are just getting it wired up. I'll have to get some pictures next time I'm at his place. He's building it to cruise with his grandkids. It's in primer right now. I'm going to shoot him the link to your shop. He's another one like me that can't find a trust worthy shop near us to paint. Think his chevelle went back to the guy who did it 4 times.

Everything under the car like driveline and bushings are all new. Disc brake conversion. The latest AccuAir bag system with Bluetooth to your phone. 3k watt sound system sounds amazing. Car is dialed. No expense spared on it and interior is as good as exterior.

The 472 was at the time the largest displacement big block on the planet, with 375HP and 525lbs of torque.

It was only for 68' and 69', in 70 Cadillac enlarged it to make the 500, king of the GM big blocks. It was only available in the Eldorado for 70'. 400HP and 550lbs of torque.

For the 71 model years and the remaining 5 years (76 last year of production) performance only fell off because of the smog/fuel crisis crap. :(

If I had to swap the 472, I always thought the Blackwing V-8 would be an excellent choice! 6.2 liters of Blown Caddy Fury = 668HP and 659lbs torque....a perfect match!🤘;)

For now finish the bags, we are going to build a new fuel tank for an efi pump set up. I have a sniper quadrajet I want to try on it. Going to build a new exhaust to tuck up better and flow better. If and when the 472 dies it will get an ls. I have a Hooker turbo manifold and a turbo laying around that I think would be very entertaining in the land yacht.

I am at 32-33 cars right now. serious issues. I am doing 3 different ones right now. The 69 chevelle. the Caddie and mullet the camaro. Mullet is almost done but the ref is being the ref and a royal pain in the ass. Everything is there, the monitors set, and he is giving me shit about the calibration numbers in the ecu. and the air intake which I kinda figured he would.

What a dick. He's not even supposed to care about that shit. If it has the proper equipment and passes emissions, it should be a done deal.

Swap the intake to stock temporarily, tell him to eat a bag of dicks! 😤 🤣

So for a good laugh and a great example of how things are done in the great state of califuckyou. Take a guess at which one these air intake setups is preferred by the referee. View attachment 1299516 View attachment 1299517
I'm going with the one that will not allow the hood to close. But both of them have scary aftermarket filters on them, so who knows????

That's the one. So when and if I get through the email process, I will pull the hood and drive it over to the ref station. If he asks about the hood, I will tell him once I get the BAR label I will make a hood fit it, but I didn't want to waste anymore time chasing the unobtainable carrot.

Ya I’m open to offers. The prices are all over the place.

There is nothing special under the hood. It’s all original and sounds like the classic sewing machine caddy motor. I’ll post pics in another thread. Not going to take away from @bonesfab thread. I’ll post elsewhere if someone is interested.

So another one From the he because he could afford it file. This was my introduction to the gentleman we built the galaxie for. One of my good customers referred him to me. Another shop built it and it had a carb on a crate 572 and it was a little temperamental. So it started out as just putting efi on it and make it more drivable. It’s on a Morrison chassis. Pretty nice car. So half way through the efi install he asks can we put a blower on it as well. Sure why not. I notice the car has a 200r4 in it. I tell him that the trans probably won’t last. He says he is just going to cruise it around. Ok. So get it done and the first time I lay into it it shits the trans out of it. We do a 4l80e in it and he has it for about a month. I get a call and he tells me it just doesn’t look right. I question him and he says it’s out of balance. So we order another Vortech and make it have twins. I guess he had a thing for twins. Who knows. So two Vortech YSI blowers on a 572 crate engine all under the stock hood.

The Cuda we built for Paul Lee owner of McLeod clutches. All aluminum 528 hemi with Holley efi and a pro charger. Made 1200 or so on the engine dyno Was a prototype Morrison chassis for the E-body. This thing was the biggest Pyle o shit to start with. I think we replaced every panel on it. And it was a 5-speed car also. We got it done and it went to Sema and never saw it again. Would have really liked to play with this one more.

"all under the stock hood"

The space under that particular stock hood gives the remaining Tustin airship hanger a run for its money!😅

The Lincoln made it outside under its own power and around the parking lot. Customer needs to figure out what he is doing interior wise. View attachment 1302581 View attachment 1302582 View attachment 1302583 View attachment 1302584
has to keep the chain link steering wheel! 😅

add on edit:

in all seriousness. I'd go traditional. stock style seating. white pleaded leather for subtle but pops. or also I think a burnt orange/burgundy would go good with that paint for something that's classy but stands out. Can't go wrong with black either, it'll go good with the chain link steering wheel on the 100 degree days!👇👇
