That looks to be more of a crocodile
You can barely see them at water level with just their eyes above water
Had one swim by the boat in mexico and could see him better when i launched the drone

That poor fucking animal will probably killed... that totally sucks. I'm not for alligator's in the channel, but becasue some a-hole tried to keep an alligator as a pet, he'll likely be shot. just seems kinda sad. getting off my soap box...

If it is indeed a cayman, they tend to be more aggressive than alligators....more similar to a crocodile. The good news is, if it is a cayman, they don't grow as big as the other two critters. Cayman also tend to travel in groups more often than an alligator does. A better image of the snout will tell whether it's an alligator or a cayman.

While living in Louisiana, once watched a 'Family' Outdoor tv show. The local commentator said, This is a good one. Keep the kids up. There's a little blood, but not too bad. A Cajun Dad and son in an aluminum John boat, a pirogue, with a cage of live chickens. They took a Hay Hook and pinned it thru one of those chickens, then dropped it back about 30' behind the boat on parachute cord and began slow trolling, with that live chicken flopping it's wings on the surface. Didn't take too long and there came those 2 eyeballs following the chicken. When the gator grabbed that chicken with the hay hook in it, they began pulling it in on the parachute cord. Pulled it up tight, alongside the boat. The Dad said, There ya go son. Get Him. The boy about, 10 yrs old, then stuck a 12ga tight against the gators head and pulled the trigger. Blood and guts flew everywhere. Next was video of the boy, his dad and that dead gator in that little boat. All were smiling, except that gator. The episode ended with the Dad saying, Clean kill son, clean kill. The only lucky ones were the few live chickens that remained in that cage. 100% True Story.

RD has a lot of boats. Although, doubt he has a pirogue.

Miss B, I love you! 😘 I too am a fan of animals, but I have to ask...... Have you been to Florida lately??? The place is overrun by alligators. They have truly become a pain in the ass. Whether you enjoy golf, or long walks in the park, you can almost trip over them anywhere you go. They are dangerous and should not be in places where people congregate, like Lake Havasu. Remember the child who was attacked at Disney several years ago?? They need to be managed or else you end up with huge problems, like the invasive snakes now taking over the Florida Everglades.

One option would be to capture this guy, and relocate it somewhere where it has almost no chance of encounters with humans. That way it doesn't end up with pretty stitches and a fashion label. 👍

no, I have never been to Florida, but I did watch a TikTok this weekend, of a little aluminum motorized canoe going up some god forsaken river in Mexico (or... maybe it was Peru, IDK) but it was full/like no room full of gator's scampering everywhere, horror film, alligator infested water. It was frightening!! So I get it, but it's still sad. LOL I do know they are like the rats of NY... but it pulls at my heart strings. Happy Gator, just cruzing the channel hoping for a glance of MiniKat, or the newest DCB w/ boat babes abound.

I knew a guy that had a pet gator, he got Albert when he was about 12” long and brought him back from Florida in the 70’s. Albert ended up being about 16’ and lived a long and happy life in a mudhole in his owners back yard. This was in a developed SoCal neighborhood, Albert got out a couple times and cruised up the street the city tripped a bit, but in the end couldn’t get Albert removed for some reason. His owner had a freezer filled with road kill he’d pick up for Albert, dude was Native American and marched to his own beat.

That was in Harbor City across from Kaiser
He came from Fish city across from El Camino College. No longer there but I was a regular customer for years. Reggie owner died a few years ago. He used to have snapping turtles, Reggie and a host of other critters at his old pad.

Betty White used to have one. .

I remember back in the mid 80's they caught one in the nature preserve at the south end of Havasu--could have been folklore, but I remember hearing that.

So where has this been reported on? I haven't seen it on the Havasu Herald, scanner feed, etc? I saw RD's post above, but cant even find that anywhere other than FB, which he reposted it on....

Oh it’s real.. lol. I talked to the cops earlier today regarding this.. well rather where I got the pic but that’s a whole different deal.

They are out looking for it now.

This wouldn't have happened to be around the West Covina area would it? Can't see there being too many folks with big ass gators at their homes...but I also was never looking:oops:

PS. Susan, Thanks for hosting us on the Cabana barge. Hell of a fun day all around!

So just out of pure curiosity, and speculation here...

This weekend a young girl near drowned in the channel, and alligators being know to drag pray underwater in an instant. If the gator is real deal, who's to say the gator didn't snatch that young girl and pull her down?

... yeah I know it's speculation and fodder for us to banter about

Most likely the lack of visible leg injury that would result from a gator grasping the victims leg or other body part ?

Especially in the Channel they could scan it with underwater sonar and find it pretty easy, no? If it's moved out into the lake then we're probably gonna be on edge out here until it's found...
