You had to go and stir the pot didn’t you now LOF will be in here shortly and we will have another 2 pages of worthless information 🤣
Save you some time. Tesla was late on there cars, Bronco was late, why are you trying to hold Robby to higher standards than Telsa or Ford? This SXS will be so much better than anything anyone can even imagine it's worth the wait. If you don't have a deposit down then don't talk.

You guys nailed it verbatim and in typical fashion he was... 😂😂

Sometimes the swindle isn't on purpose, the intentions are good from the beginning. However, you do reach a point where you have gone so far, there is no turning back and the can is perpetually kicked down the road. Again, I 100% hope I am wrong brother, but this story has been played out before and I am very pessimistic at this point.

Also, had anyone seen the production facilities that can handle this volume?? If you can post a video with the tour, I would appreciate it. Couldn't find anything.
Hisun in McKinney Texas is where they are being assembled and is a 300,000 S/F facility.

I would think there would be something about Speed UTV on the Hisun website, but no word.

They are not allowed to legally, unless they had permission from Speed. Same thing as brand name companies private labeling Kirkland products for Costco.
Understood, I would think it is a win-win for both parties for transparency, Speed a premium product to showcase manufacturing and reassurance for Speed customers that the factory is ready to go.

Speed has disclosed Hisun as their manufacturing partner, they just aren't advertising the fact. Personally I think advertising the relationship would be good for Hisun and not so much for Speed, as their buyer demographic frowns on anything to do with Chinese companies.

I thought the Texas facility was just final assembly, not manufacturing of the chassis or major components. I could be mistaken, or that may have changed?

As a Speed deposit holder, I would have more confidence if Hisun referenced the partnership. I think we all knew many parts are sourced from China when we put in deposits, maybe Hisun has a reason. If you google "Hisun to build Speed UTV" this thread shows up 1st.

Agreed. Speed had nothing to gain. We have 40 pages here as evidence of that.. although every UTV owner is driving around a car full of Chinese and overseas sourced parts.

You actually think RG is going to make what 100 weekly videos, take people for ride‘s & actually build a car thats never been made before, lease a building, remodel it and have prototypes cars built to to scam a bunch of people out of $1,500 bucks….

there are easier ways to scam people out if their hard earned cash !!

I don't really have horse in this race, but because I am one of the mooks in the picture from the Desert Bar in Speed video #96 I thought would chime in with my perspective.

Myself and bunch of other friends from up here in NorCal make a month long trip to AZ every year to camp, ride the trails (SxS), and generally hang out in warmer weather. Our third stop this year was Shea Road in Parker with Saturday spent doing the compulsory riverside bar crawl and Sunday up at the Desert Bar. When Robbie rolled in with the Speed car the guys in our group all headed out to the front parking lot. Robbie greeted us, said to have a look, sit in the car, take a ride along, or even take it for a drive.

I had never met the man, and I will admit I had a preconceived notion that he was a jerk based on things I had read, heard, etc. over the years. Based on my experiences, I couldn't have been more wrong. Robbie was friendly, open and even able to take some ribbing about some of the issues they were discovering during the test sessions. He encouraged us to post up the obvious oil leak on social media. Our group all ride late model RZR's or CanAm's and we typically seek out the more technical and/or faster trails on our rides so we were really interested in the capabilities of the Speed car. None of us had seen it in person, and none have deposits on one. All of us left impressed with what we saw on the car. The suspension and shocks are very trophy truck like. The ergonomics inside the car are nice, roomy, and well laid out. Aside from some minor fit and finish issues the car looks really cool, not at all like any of the current competitive offerings. We all left very impressed with the car and Robbie.

Heres a pic of Robbie telling me that after riding in the Speed car I would be hating my RZR on the ride back to camp.

As it turns out the Desert Bar was just the first of four times our paths would cross that day with the Speed team.

After returning to camp that afternoon we started packing up to head out to AVI the next morning. Shae Road is the last spot to have a real camp fire so we load up all the wood we brought and start a roaring NorCal oak camp fire. About 6:00 pm we hear a car roaring up Shea Road at what sounds like high rate of speed, low and behold its Robbie followed by the chase car. We wave as he flys by, so he whips the car around and rolls into camp to say hi again. Tells us he's headed out on the 425 course to beat on the car some more and off he goes.

A couple of hours later the chase car rolls back in and says "Robbies got a flat tire about 15 miles out, can we borrow a spare?" Turns out the Speed car has the same bolt pattern as a RZR so there happen to be four 32" spares close at hand. Max and the other team guy (Michael?) tell us they will change the wheel, run the Speed car back to Parker, swap it out for a branded Speed tire, and return the borrowed spare on their way back out for more nighttime testing.

Another couple of hours later the two cars roll back into camp to drop off the borrowed RZR wheel. Robbie jumps out of the car thanking everyone profusely for the help. We all walk to the back of the car and find an empty bed. No spare wheel, just a loose ratchet strap. Everyone immediately shares the same image of a 32" TerraBite bouncing down the road at 60 miles an hour and out into the dark bowels of Osborne wash. Robbie says he will go find it, I say bullshit, its long gone. Well I was wrong again, he found it a couple of miles back sitting right in the middle of the road.

He returns to camp, spare tire tightly strapped in the back this time. After unloading it Robbie asks if anyone wants to go for a ride? It's getting close to midnight now and we are all at least a cocktail or three into the evening so there are lots of volunteers. There's just one problem...the car is nearly out of gas. Because desert people still help other desert people AND we really want a ride we pour 5 gallons of 91 octane into the car and we are off. It wasn't a long ride, but it was a fast ride. About 90 miles an hour down Shea and then a hard right into the wash for a spirited ride back to camp. The suspension on the car is incredible, soaking up everything Osborne had to offer even after having a couple hundred St Patty's day poker run cars in it the day before. Everyone climbed out with huge grins on their faces and once again we found ourselves impressed with the car and the man.

He's got a crew but pours his own.

As I mentioned in the beginning I don't really have a horse in this race. The Speed car is clearly designed for the desert and lots of the riding we do is in the woods. A 77" car could be challenging in our home environment. That said Robbie and the Speed car are changing the SxS market as evidenced by the new Pro R launch. Maybe I need two cars? One for the desert and one for the woods.

Robbies passion and excitement about the car was very clear in our discussions and the prototype car was very impressive. Everyone in our group was equally impressed and number of new fans were made. He is taking a huge swing at a dream during an unprecedented time in the global business environment. I admire his courage and hope he is successful.

The chase truck didn’t have a spare tire or gas? Seems like a he has a solid program and team.

Plenty of other silent threads for you to enjoy sir. You knew what you were getting into when you clicked on the thread.

Question,

Does the speed car come with some sort of iqs or dynamics? Electronic shock adjusters?

wonder why he wouldn’t do those to stay with the competition? Maybe in the future like the iqs which is really simple unlike dynamics

Yea, they haven’t mentioned anything publicly about it, but they have to be thinking about it for down the road.

Last announcement they made the shocks have like 17 stages of damping.

Really only one answer, $$$.

It could be added that they feel the current shocks work just fine but they are already going to be behind the 8 ball in money for these cars.

No it’s not needed! Speed car is way to fast !

In the split second it takes the shocks to adjust the speed car will down 1/4 mile down the road and past the bump!

speed cars are way fast than flying unicorns….

So I listened to this weeks episode:

Couple big takeaways

1. Car will have cooling issues!!!! Robby flat out said that you CANNOT run a windshield if ambient is over 78F outside. With the rear mounted radiator it will start to run hot.

For all you windshield lovers that is a BIG deal!!!

2. Lots of small problems with easy fixes, this car shouldn’t suffer from crappy small parts failures like others do. That is a good sign

3. First deliveries are now into September. I know he is saying April for production but listening and comprehending what is “saying” is that there are still testing, changes, supply chain problems, ect.

You can build 20+ cars a day if supply chain isn’t ready to support. Whether that is delivery problems or changing design and re tooling ect.

All in all it will be for the better but deliveries are delayed yet again.

*** note in his rambling of the oil leak and it just being a fitting vs crank seal. He didn’t show any signs of being upset over what he thought was a crank seal. In the end it doesn’t matter but just an observation that the crank seal didn’t seem like a big deal to him.

For me I would have been pissed knowing it leaks from a crank seal and there is no fix, again a moot point but worth mentioning.

Overall deign of the car is still impressive. From a mechanical reliability standpoint.

2 big flaws I see right now

Cooling system problems with a windshield and no electronic shocks thus behind the times there.

Carry on

If you ride during the winter months which is what most people do then it will not be an issue, It is not a big deal. Also the windshield can be removed pretty easily. If you want to ride during the summer then you will have to remove it.

If they start building this month July is when we should see the first batch's or so if all goes according to plan.

Also electronic shocks only cause more issues, for one if you have that in your RZR you can't get them because of chip shortages, two which TT has electronic shocks or pre-runners for that matter? They're superior shocks overall than what fox offers on the RZR for sure and we don't have to worry about more shit that can break over time.

I was surprised they are still messing with the wire harnesses at james linn place. that’s one of the first thing you need when assembling so that doesn’t sound promising when talking about April production 🤷🏼🤷

its only 8 months away. 20 a day....math blah blah.

On the flip side these were always going to be late and I dont care, Im just happy they will raise bar. Just like Tesla did

They identified that issue with cooling a year ago in testing as well. A rear mounted radiator behind a firewall is only gonna get so much air. Might be an area for aftermarket improvements.

The electronic shocks I see as a non issue at this point. If I don’t have to spend $3k on 4” springs and valving, it’s a win. Most of the people we know get their electronic shocks revalved and the stay in one setting 95% of the time after that anyway.

That’s probably why they are doing the soft start of the first 50 or so, to line all that out.

I think the cooling system is a very big deal. So you cant run a windshield (most will have one) because it’s too hot. How many people offroad in 80+ degree weather? ALOT!!!

They are not starting in April that’s a fact!!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Sand show in September is when these will come out. All in all it’s boating season who cares anyways right?

Still a ton of issues they are having. This episode highlighted on sway bars, cooling, oil leaks. Flat tires ect….

Glad they are working it all out and will be a good car but man it’s taking a while lol
