Or the Can Am that is 99.99% complete minus the cluster and key fob deal rendering the vehicle inoperable.

I don’t think so. Can Am and Polaris still make a decent product. 99.9% of people don’t drive these hard enough for the all out performance difference to really matter that much. If Speed is truly a more durable car out is the box, then yes, that will also raise the bar.

It is going to raise the bar in terms of standard features and customization from the factory? Yes. And it certainly raises the bar in terms of safety.

You bet the other cars will have shift on the fly transaxles with overdrive post haste.

Can you choose your own colors on your Can Am?
Can you get it with comms? A spare? Can you get a Can Am with a stereo? How about seats that aren’t plastic buckets? Lights from the factory? Car wired for all accessories so they are plug and play?

No you gotta spend 20k and pay the dealer to wire and install all that crap. That’s what will drive some changes. I can’t believe the other MFGs haven’t figured all that out yet frankly.

You can install the optional comms setup in a Textron Wildcat xx in 15 mins. The car is wired for it and the comes are packaged as an assembled kit.

The guy that keeps a rxr or ranger stock isn't going to buy a speed sxs. I don't think you will see big changes in the other companies unless starts dominating in races. Then you can point to something like overdrive or suspension as far superior. Otherwise major mfg will just see speed as a niche company kinda like saleen or roush in the muscle car world. You think ford or chevy is worried that roush has a 750hp mustang if they sell less than 2000 units a year?

Polaris and Bombardier are corporations that care only about selling units to make a profit for the shareholders. They are going to make their cages as minimalistic as possible, include as few options as possible, and keep their costs to an absolute minimum to keep the bean counters happy. As long as the salesman at Chaparral can sell these things for 5k over MSRP, plus a bunch of bulshit fees, the manufacturers are happy.

Robbie set out on a journey to make a car for desert racing in the Southwest, and he's taking his time to do it right. Those of us that actually race offroad know the importance of having all the components work together and be strong enough to support each other. Boo hoo, it's taking longer than expected, I'd bet that everybody with a deposit would rather have a car that is 10 out of 10 versus getting something that is going to fail because of lack of testing and revisions.

The Speed cars look to be nothing less than a slightly smaller class 10 car, which is really going to shake up the off-road racing world once they enter the mix. Polaris and Bombardier are not going to be concerned with a niche market speed car, it's a different buyer. Yeah there's going to be some guys that just want to have the new cool thing, but that's not going to affect their bottom line.

I’ve said that exact same thing earlier in the thread when people said the other MFGs are going to “do something” about Speed. Speed is a top line car, that is all they sell, it is their only product.

Speed is not going to sell enough cars to matter much to Polaris or Can Am in terms of marketshare, But like I said, some of its unique features will be duplicated. Overdrive for instance makes a lot of sense. Uses adjustable clutching also makes a lot of sense. Flex fuel capability I could see being used in other brands too.

Everyone is in the same boat. When speed does come out it means all the supply issues and bullshit are done. Meaning the crazy mark ups will be too. Had speed been April to start production last week, maybe… but they didn’t and it’s going to be a while.
