Speed is doing what they said they were gonna do, and have started production within 60 days with a 50 car test production run. Full run begins April 1. Go back and read all the folks who said it was impossible and they would never be able to do it.

Haters will be in shortly to try to say this isn't really production, and that they won't have trucks to deliver the cars.

Lol you don't need to point your "the haters said...." gun at me. Pretty well established that I am a robby fanboy when it comes to his ability to design a car.

His ability to maintain a business relationship with those around him, however.....

Watched the most recent dyno vid here but didn't catch if the exhaust manifold is the production version. Anybody know?

I'm thinking my #, 2153 will be end of summer if they start in April. 4-500 cars a month?

“Speed is doing what they said they were gonna do.” Was that purposeful humor or a serious bootlicking event on your part? 😂

In all seriousness, when exactly is final FULL payment due to take delivery? I’m too lazy to go back to the stone and chisel era when this thread began.

It wasn't directed at you :), you know this.

They guy seems to have reasonably successful ventures when his partners share the same vision.

Hmm.
Cars built and delivered in the 4th month of 2022 will be 2023 models

That's some serious Louie Major's Kachina boats thinking there.👍👍

Just watched the whole “professional” production, after the first minute or so of RG not being able to figure out how to order Taco Bell via Instacart on his phone. Let’s hope a second gear start around a paved parking lot, AFTER proper warm up temps have been achieved, are enough to eclipse your all knowing “LOL” of Polaris products.

That looks waay better than the Jurassic Park model the SXSBlog guys have.

I like the black one above much better, or the black and orange one RiverDave had in his garage. The neon body colors are fairly easy to change though.

The 2 seater cage profile looks a lot better than the 4 seater cage.

LOL....reminds me of Kilrtoy back in the HB days who was constantly proclaiming the real estate market is going to crash. Said it over and over for years. Didn't matter, that he was off by many, many years.....Eventually, it did come true.🤣

I was chuckling to myself thinking along those lines.

There are crazy people on the street corner carrying signs proclaiming the end of the world.
Eventually one of them will be right.

Here we have Speed and Speed fan boys proclaiming the start of production cars.
Eventually one of them will be right.

Yep, but then there are the folks that think trees can grow to the sky.

Like I said, multiple interest rate hikes, balance sheet run off, energy costs, 7% inflation, a war, loss of wealth in the market and an administration that seems bound and determine to undermine the success of the country; thats the forward data for the US economy

So the crazies and the fan boys are possibly going to be right on the same date?😁

Pretty much, but only one group will be doing wheelies in a car bought with preinflation money and selling it at inflated post pandemic inflated prices. :p

The other group will be screaming in the streets like always.

weekend warrior comes to mind...
They were famous for that also.
Except on mine...
My SLC was in the last run of 4 SLC's and I had it customized in length and features.

The Grim Reaper was already knocking on their door and my trailer sat on the line waiting on cabinets. The vendor was owed money.

I took delivery late '08 and it's VIN calls it an '09.

Encouraging to hear.

50 cars of which model?

Typically manufacturing will run off one model at at time then rejig the line for another.

It's very rare to have multiple models run on one line.

Or will there be multiple lines at the factory?

Typically in a startup the first model down the line is the most profitable so some money can be recouped.

They are making 800 4 seaters first, then a run of 500 2 seaters. Something like 75% of the cars ordered are 4 seaters. The 500 2 seaters make them legal for competition.

Wheelies in the post apocalyptic world may be fun but when no one's there to see it, did it really happen?

The only one's with pre-inflation cost Speed cars are the one's with paid in full invoices. (Assuming the car gets delivered).

I don't think many if any have paid in full.

I'm not saying Speed will reneg on the price at all but it will certainly be painful for them if they don't.

There are 3 versions of the 4 seater right?

Id guess the first 50 will be the highest end version, but maybe not.

I will be.. lol.
So far, I'm up $1500 of our $3,000 bet you made for not hitting the Feb mark on 1 of your rides. When the next 1 doesn't deliver I'll collect 🥳. (I even made it Feb/March for you instead of Jan/Feb you were sure of).
post 3017 I took that as a yes. 😁

Yes. The base model cars aren't available yet, only the mid spec LE and top spec RG. The cars are being built to the customer specs in order, so they will be a mix coming off the line.

I would be trying to get as many out the door as I could right now. The last time the economy turned off people walked away from a lot bigger shit then a down payment on a SXS.

That seems to be the plan. It will be interesting to see how long until we peak or if we are just past the peak. The jobs data was slightly better than expected. When that turns around, its coming but not overnight.

Alright, my #203 might actually happen this year! Did they say how many they will try to make in April if the first 50 check out ok? RG edition 4-seater here.

They said if the first 50 are good, they will go right to full production mode.

This has been my thought the whole time with Speed. Seems like a great product once to market, I just hope for their sake and ours (consumers,) that there is a market for them when they are available. Maybe everyone that put a deposit down can afford one regardless of the state of the economy...

It would be interesting to know the break down of ownership at Speed.
Also the break down of investment capital in.

RD said back at the beginning there was backing by a Chinese billionaire and Todd apparently has a couple dollars.

Who really stands to lose if the worst were to occur?

Speed was smart enough to counter some of the potential of customers ditching a deposit by making them pay for all accessories up front.
Many are in for quite a bit more than the base $1,500.

My guess would be it's the guy that owns the factory in China.

He said that they were sourcing parts currently for the first 50. So I don’t think they would jump right into production if the first 50 we good to go I’d assume he will have to wait till those are fully done then asses then order parts for the next run which might take a few weeks to a few months.

This thread is full of conjecture, so why not add some more :).

But what you are suggesting is not what RG said and not what was posted here.

Could they have problems that take time to resolve, sure.

He stated that those 50 were being built this month.

What’s the break down of ownership of Polaris, can am, tesla, Barrett Guns, Amazon when they started out 5, 10, 20 - 30 years ago?

they are all big bucks these days! But they needed to start from somewhere.

I thought - can am was a snow mobile company, Polaris made the crappy quads, Amazon was a on line book store….

things sure changed

After thinking it over, I've come to the conclusion that I still have nothing of value to add to this thread.
We value your valuable lack of valuable input on this highly valuable thread.
