Lol. Weighing it for cg, then shipping the opti and all the rigging to it's new owner in Rhode island. Guess its getting hung on a 20' sutphen.

A buddy has an extra inline 6 laying around. We'll see how that runs, then make a decision about what will do over winter. Cant WAIT to change it over to dts!

Roughly 3/4 tank of gas. Scales belong to hydroskreamin. Hopefully he gets his ass up here Sunday afternoon for a minute.

Bow is 845 weighed at the bow eye.
Transom is 2305 weighed at the transom eyes.

3150 with the interior, gas, fenders, all the bullshit. Theres blankets, pillows, etc up in the bow. Weighed it as I use it.

Just put his numbers into my spreadsheet and his LCG (Longitudinal Center of Gravity) is at 72”(6’).

Now we need to see where the step is, and where the center of the fuel tank is in relation to the step as well.

It’s all of 8’ beam.

Weighing for CG with fuel and running gear changes some things. It’s got about 3/4 tank of fuel, so that’s about 350 lbs. That’s why I want to see where the tank is in relationship to the measured CG.

We may pump the fuel out and re-weigh.

The HeadlessOne is working today and I’m taking care of weekend business, we’ll reconvene this week and get a plan together.

I used my fork lift with a sling to hang the bow end, and hung the transom with the gantry off each stern loop. 1 scale at each point. Easy peasy.

Sounds like you'd already removed the engine. What was your priority for leveling, the fuel tank or keel ?

Engine is still on it.

Keel level. The tank is parallel with the keel, at least within a half inch front to back. I can see either end of it.

That's including the engine. I weighed it exactly how it ran on the water, short of a cooler full of beer and ice, and my 215 lbs.
All the fenders, anchor, lines, everything. Little tool kit I keep in it. Everything.

Did not realize the 3.0L Merc was still on it when you did the weigh in. 3,150lbs with the motor makes much more sense now.

Had 32 gallons in the tank. I just finished pumping it out.

Ok. More raw data. One of the scales seemed to acting up, so some different ones were procured to reweigh without fuel.
The bow was 795, starboard transom was 1124, port transom was 1144.

The measurement from the bow to stern hanging points is 22'6"

This is without fuel.

That gantry is probably the best 100 bucks I've ever spent.

33 1/4" from the keel to the front of the gearcase.

The center of the gearcase is 1-1/4" below the keel.

Went to the local marina to pick up a crate to ship this engine. Called and specifically asked if they had a shipping crate for a 250 opti. Guy said, yep. Theres one out back.

Awesome. Drive an hour up there to pick it up and all they have is a bunch of busted pallets. Fuker.

Stopped at the lumber yard and bought wood.
Got the prick built. Motor bolted down.

Filling up the rest of the space in the crate with the balance of the rigging that goes with it.

I have 4 sheets of osb for sides and top.

Had to grab some shorter mounting bolts.
Things progress significantly slower in the cooler months.

Has more clearance than the 2 hose helm. I think having the tilt will be a nice feature.

I think my head would explode , perhaps you're smart and take notes as the mental design images flash-card in your head, lol

If you don't mind I do have a question. I'm not familiar with those push-button switches you used, how do they or you, differentiate between "On and Off" ?
I thought maybe the name would illuminate, but if I recall all those switch names illuminate together, which is necessary for choosing the correct switch in the dark.
Although changing colors when on would be really cool.

I've been busy workin on work projects lately. As of tomorrow, the bank will no longer be holding the title to my house.
Priorities....

I am slowly gathering all the rigging to make the change to the verado. Been putting some thought into the setback bracket, and other changes. I do not like the current holes through the transom for the rigging, so those will get moved. Have to sort out the bulkhead fittings for the steering and jackplate as well. Its s long list.


Cheeseland has had quite the change from summer to fall. Wet and cold.
We make the best of it though.

I'll be making another roadtrip to havasu/Vegas in January. Work trip with some serious screwing off before and after. Maybe we could have a beer.
