Ski tow is all wrapped up. All polished stainless with black anodized ski pole and upper clamp. Stoked on the outcome… time to get the kids skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Pretty amazing how solid it is honestly.

Well… the boat has been running too good and we’ve been enjoying the heck out of it. Lots of prop testing and I’m very happy with the setup. I’ve decided it’s time to build myself a really nice triple axle trailer. I’ve been collecting all my parts and I’m looking to start the process within the next week. Stay tuned! Trailer tongue is knocked out. I really like the look of a trailer that has 6” tall main rails. So I started with a piece of 3”x6”x.250 box tube and went to town on making a nice transition up to the tongue.

I was able to score a new set of 12”x97” polished stainless fenders from a member here on RDP. I really wanted a 12” wide fender but as we all know they are next to impossible to get. I decided to run 18”x9.5” US Mags Bullets with a set of 275 40 18” General G-Max tires. I like the tight wheel spacing on a triple axle so I’ve decided I’m going to cut 9.5” out of the length on these fenders and weld them back together to get the perfect look I want.

Was able to get one fender knocked out last night. Not gonna lie it was a little nerve racking cutting that fender in half but it turned out great. I used big pieces of aluminum as heat sinks to make sure the fenders stayed perfectly flat during the weld process. Lots of sanding finesse but it came out perfectly flat. One more fender to go though lol. Material for the trailer shows up today so we’ll see how much progress I can make in the next few days.

Sweet! Kind of a shame to take a grinder to those welds but I get the desire to make the tongue look like it was formed that way.

Thanks Len! I always try my hardest to lay down the nicest welds when I’m gonna be grinding and blending. It really makes the metal finishing process a lot easier when the weld is already flat. Patiently waiting for more updates on yours!

That is beautiful work you did blending your welds! I'm totally a fan of frenching lights, kind of takes me back to the mini truck days!

It's a little crazy how much talent there is here on the 'ol RDP and how willing they are to share. I say share deliberately because unlike lots of social media which is very much about "look at me" with no detail the guys like @Oliver1421 , @ChrisV , @cj222 and many others not only share what they are doing but show the detail of how. It's why I keep coming back here, I learn, and I am inspired to be better.

For reference, I looked at the taillight boxes and said to myself the top weld is a piece of cake, standard tig corner joint. The weld in the bottom of the box? Much different story... It's a tight space, you can't see in there, torch and cup don't hardly fit, not to mention getting filler rod in there, and it all blocks your view of the puddle. Me? I woulda welded the back side first and called it a day. Once the LED light is in there nobody knows. Welding the inside of the taillight box is better and testament to the skill displayed.

I've always been intrigued in the learning process of how to do things and how to do things correctly. As we all know there are always much easier ways of doing things. I enjoy challenging myself to do things I've never done before and using the skills i have learned throughout my life. I'm my own worst enemy for sure. I do really enjoying coming on here and seeing all the talent and inspiration as well, you included Len! That's honestly the reason i decided to do a build thread. I drooled over yours for weeks.

Made a some progress on the trailer the other day. Made a fixture out of my two welding tables I built a few months ago and some left over 2x6 box tube I had from the trailer. Worked out pretty well. Also realized that I built two of the same side tail light boxes. That was a huge waste of time lol.
