Decided to break out the flaring and bending tools to get some stainless fuel lines knocked out. Of course I had to get them polished as well. The carb lines were definitely a good challenge, look at the amount of bends on just the one line to the carb. Super stoked on the outcome!

Nothing worse than looking at a motor in a boat and just seeing a rats nest of plumbing. With high horsepower applications, the amount of needed components makes for a lot of plumbing. I decided I was gonna tackle making all my own stainless water fittings for the oil cooler and power steering cooler to keep things as clean as possible.

Looks great Gary. Nothing better than clean plumbing and wiring. It's amazing how quickly plumbing lines and connections add up. $$$

Those fuel lines really came out nice, and as you pointed out they are pretty complex, lots of planes, lots of direction changes.

Can you share your technique? Mock up with welding rod? Did you get it right on the first try? Any welds in there?

Asm always, thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks Len! They were some tricky hardlines for sure! I usually buy a little extra tubing and I’ll cut some smaller pieces to do some sample bends of the right angle needed and mark the start of the bend on the tube and line that up with the start mark on the bending tool. These pieces are used to reference where to start bending on your real piece. Tape measure is your friend, take your time and don’t forget to put your tube nut and sleeve on before you make your last flare lol.

The long line in the picture that I’m holding I had three attempts at. The first one came out perfect but it was routed different and I just didn’t like it after I slept on it. The second attempt I messed that one up bending one of the bends the wrong direction, (take your time). Sometimes when u have a lot of bends on one piece it’s very easy to get all turned around, and depending on the amount of beers consumed, the results can be skewed. Well the third time I nailed it! No welds, all done in one piece.

I'm getting impatient lol.
Been a few days with no updates.
Let's see that beauty!

Beautiful float. Everything you have done thus far is right up my alley. The more and more I see these build threads it makes me want to purchase something similar and do my own thread. 👍

Man I am blown away at the craftmanship in this thread. It's threads like this that make me want to buy another old boat and rebuild it. Then I start to think about the money involved and sit back and enjoy the ride...lol
Seeing the neverending talent on RDP always blows my mind!! This thread is a perfect example of that!! 💪

On to the finishing touches… wiring is under way! My buddy Jack Nickerson (Jax Motorsports) and I are knocking it out!! Jack used to work for GT Performance back in the 90s and into the early 2000’s rigging and wiring some of the baddest Vector and 210 ski race boats that came outta that shop. We decided to construct a complete mil spec harness utilizing all concentric twisted tefzel wire to ensure strain relief, Raychem heat shrink, and deutsch connectors. You can see the mil spec cannon plug next to the battery for the engine harness. This makes engine removal a breeze, half a twist and it’s unplugged and the harness stays on the engine. I also machined some stainless threaded spacers out of some hex material for my battery mount that will be getting polished. Also fabbed up some trim tab backing plates that double as a pedestal mount for the Teague billet trim pump tanks. Just waiting on trim tabs and trim pumps.

Trim tabs are done! Marine Industries West killed it! Bob was great to work with! Also had my buddy Jason (Rockstar Coatings) take care of the clear cerakote over the polished aluminum on the cylinders, and it came out amazing. Wanted it to match the outdrive with the polished trim and steering cylinders. Couldn’t be happier! Rushed home and installed the tabs and threw the outdrive on. Got about three hours of sleep and we’re headed to Havasu for a maiden voyage!!

Extremely successful maiden voyage! Left the back seat out so I could get to everything if needed. Only thing I had to do was fine tune the fuel pressure and adjust the float levels. So beyond thankful for all the people involved in this build! This thing HAULS ASS! Just need some more seat time to get comfortable and to learn the all new setup! This summer is gonna be awesome!! Felt really good to get the boat back on her triple axle dolly trailer too, it just really completes the look I was going for. My girlfriend approves of the new setup so u know we had some celebratory drinks too!!

Dang thing looks and sounds awesome. I’m loving the attention to the little details too. Nicely done!

Can you tell us a little more about the twisted sister rainbow warrior wire deal?

Concentric twist. Makes it more flexible when heat shrink.

I love this thing. 😍😍

Thanks Len! The twisted sister rainbow warrior wiring deal is used in very high end motorsports applications where the vehicle sees a lot of vibration and or servicing where the harnesses need to come in and out. The concentric twisting of the wiring in the harness lets the harness be flexible while not creating strain where the wire terminates into every connection. Annnnnnnnd… it just looks badass!!

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I’m thankful that I have the knowledge to be able to do this stuff. There’s no way I could afford to pay someone to build a boat like this!

A few shots from the Classic Performance Boats Regatta this passed weekend. Had the opportunity to have the boat on display at the party Friday night and got a dock spot for the event on Saturday at pirates!

I guess I’m gonna have to take mine out of hibernation now that all you fuckers watched me build mine, then out did it!

I’m coming for you ….. 😜
Bring that thing out. I’ll be out this weekend, but I’ll be sitting in the back seat. Gonna have my kids drive me around in it all weekend.

Decided it was time to tackle building a custom ski tow for the boat. I already knew I didn’t want anything off the shelf and drilling holes in my boat was not an option so I had to get creative. So I started taking some measurements and went straight to my computer to draw this new idea.

I cut a sample out of steel to test fit everything and made a mockup ski pole out of some 2” DOM to just get a visual. This setup bolts to excess threads exposed on the transom assembly studs so I won’t have to drill any holes. I’ve personally never seen anything like this but I think it’s a pretty good idea. Test fit was a success, now time to cut it out of stainless and machine a billet ski tow pole! Stay tuned!

Ski tow is all wrapped up. All polished stainless with black anodized ski pole and upper clamp. Stoked on the outcome… time to get the kids skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Pretty amazing how solid it is honestly.
