That motor mount you made is nice. What are you using to cut it? Looks 1/2"?
Thank you! Yes it’s 1/2” aluminum, I cut it with my bandsaw. This is all just rough cuts. The motor mounts will get pocketed and beautified in the CNC mill.

Thank you!! Shooting to be on the water by the end of the month. I’m a ways behind on the posting of the build. Gonna try to catch up in the next few days to where I’m currently at!

Next stop was custom tail pipes at Teague Custom Marine. Yes, I am a fabricator, but I have never messed with water jacketed exhaust, so I’m counting on the pros for this one! I took the boat there and met with the guys explaining exactly what I wanted from tip layout to exact lengths I wanted. I’ve always thought the transom hump on the vector was kinda funky but I’ve always imagined moving the tips upwards and outwards to make the hump look like it was there for that exact reason. These guys absolutely killed it!! I can never say enough about the service from that place!

Once I got the boat home from Teague, I immediately pulled the mock-up block, motor mounts and transom assembly. I had an appointment to drop the boat off to get a rear cap done as well as fill the old exhaust holes and fill a ton on old holes in the transom, etc. The old rub rail was radiused and so were the first set of stripes below. I decided once the rub rail was gone, the radiused upper stripes were going to look out of place so I decided to have them redone. The engine and headers sit entirely too high to run an engine hatch, so exposed motor it is! With that being said the rear floors, bilge and transom needed to be nice. Gelcoat was the only answer. I wanted to keep it clean and simple to let the engine and rigging to speak for itself.

I connected with Curt Jensen from Luxe Custom Crafts through a friend of mine. Curt was willing to take the job and gave me a reasonable time frame at a fair price. I dropped off the boat and the guys jumped right on it.

With that motor, Boat is going to sound sick with the exhaust out of the water. 👍 Wish I would have done mine like that . Boat is really looking good 😛

While the boat was at the fiberglass shop it gave me time to revisit the motor mounts and motor plate. Also decided I would design my own battery mount that would use the Odyssey PC925 battery because it is compact and I’ve had great luck with them. I wanted to have the battery switch integrated in the top plate as well for cleanliness. Special thanks to my buddies John and Jeremy for knocking out the machine work for me! Off to polish and anodize!

Another bad ass and talented Hallett owner that has provided inspiration! Lucky for me, we're neighbors and I've had the pleasure of watching this build from day one. Pics don't do this build justice. Ya'll gotta make it a point to check it out on the water!

Ya I’m running a IMCO SC with a -2 shorty

Your boat looks great I wish I didn't look at this thread cause now I want a bigger motor but then with that comes the outdrive upgrade and steering.... so I will just cruise around for now..... will see

Motor mounts, battery mounts and a few other things all went to the polisher and then to anodize. I’ve been using Jenco plating in El Monte for years, by far the best in the business! Anodize that looks so good that people think it’s powder coat. My parts came out great! Now it’s time to get the motor in the boat.

One little issue I had was the Teague remote oil filter bracket was a little too tall. The bracket made the oil filter sit just high enough that I was going to have to notch the freshly gel coated gunnel and that wasn’t an option. I chose to redraw the bracket and drop the filter 1/2” which give me plenty of clearance. Had my brother in law cut it out of stainless on his water jet and had it polished. Just a little hiccup but no biggie.

Now that I knew the motor fits in the boat it gave me a better idea how I wanted to route things like plumbing and component placement. I pulled the motor so I could get started on the plumbing. First order of business was mounting the ignition coil, outdrive resi and the power steering cooler. I quickly went to work drawing up some bracketry had it water jet and polished. Stoked with how these turned out!

Lots of plumbing going in this thing and I’m not one for a rats nest of lines. I’m an off-road guy, cleanliness and serviceability is my number one priority. There will be nothing screwed into this transom, no way, no how! Had the guys at Teague make me a custom stainless T fitting and started with drilling and tapping the IMCO inner transom plate as I will be drawing fuel from both tanks at the same time. Decided to drill and tap the sides of the inner transom plate to mount stainless adel clamps to secure all the plumbing as clean as possible. Really happy with how that turned out! Matt from Milling and Turning Tech hooked me up with a bitchin billet bilge pump mount to keep things nice and tidy and I topped it off with some polish and black anodize. My Meziere starter also showed up and boy oh boy is that thing sexy!! We’re making some progress now!

Looking good!

How did you chamfer the edges on the laser cut bracket?

I found this pneumatic handheld chamfer tool on Amazon that has carbide inserts for $60. Thing kicks ass even on stainless
Good to know! I've been looking at those, seem really handy. The boat is coming along real nice. I love the black and polished combo and your unique rigging is impressive 👍

The vector doesn’t have any bulkheads down the side of the gunnel, it relies solely on the interior side panels to be installed for all the support. I’ve had issues in the past of the side panel hardware wanting to come loose. With the side panels removed during the build process I’ve noticed how much flex there is while getting in and out of the boat over the side so I decided to make some supports. I’ve always seen how a lot schiadas have metal supports attaching at the gunnel and lagging to the floor. I’m not sold on the idea, there is a big gas tank on each side which is a very strong part of the boat. I made these little stainless flanges with 1/4 20 machined bosses welded to them for the interior panel hardware to thread into with plenty of thread engagement. I also fabbed up these stainless supports that use the gas tanks to support the gunnel as well. They are backed with rubber where the land on the fuel tanks. The interior mounting flange bungs also register into the supports relieving the stress off the mounting hardware. Ya I know they will be hidden behind interior but I still had to have the polished lol. Pretty solid now, but it’ll still allow for a little flex since the supports are not bolted to the fuel tanks. I’ve never seen anything like it before but I think it should work pretty well.

Got the motor all back in the boat and finalized all the fuel and steering plumbing. Now to mount the oil cooler, make all custom water fittings and finish the oil lines. Chipping away every night after work that I can. Also picked up this bitchin throttle/ shifter from Marine Industries West. No foot throttle for me

I didn't wanna see the big bulky pedal bolted to the floor with an exposed cable running across the carpet. I like clean, simple and usable. You drive a vector with the trim so having my hand on the throttle and trim button at the same time is very functional for me. Maybe others have different opinions but they aren't flipping the bill. As for the steering, i thought about it, but decided it was a total waste of an easy $10k just to sit an arms distance away. I put the money into the good stuff instead.

I get your point and wasn't talking shit. And if I had hand throttle I would want steering on the right

I didn't take it that way, I've got thicker skin than that lol. That's the beauty of having your own boat, you get to tailor it to your needs.

Glad I’m not the only one who drives his vector with the trim button. I was beginning to wonder if I should be doin something different.
Set the throttle wide open and drive with the trim button... New setup might be a tad bit different id imagine.
