Thank you! Gotta think outside the box sometimes.Brilliant and Fabulous!!!
Well Done....
Holy shit, very very impressiveSki tow is all wrapped up. All polished stainless with black anodized ski pole and upper clamp. Stoked on the outcome… time to get the kids skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Pretty amazing how solid it is honestly.
Do you have a link for the chamfer tool you bought? ThanksI found this pneumatic handheld chamfer tool on Amazon that has carbide inserts for $60. Thing kicks ass even on stainless
just search "handheld pneumatic chamfer tool" on amazonDo you have a link for the chamfer tool you bought? Thanks
Thank you! I really appreciate that. It’s been a really fun project and my family and I have really been enjoying it this summer!Reading through the tread and looking at pics and videos...holy crap you did good really good. Your skills are off the chart. Boat looks amazing !!!!!. Enjoy that baby.
Stoke level 100oh wow! thats the perfect size fenders i wanted for the m26! badass
Sweet! Kind of a shame to take a grinder to those welds but I get the desire to make the tongue look like it was formed that way.Trailer tongue is knocked out. I really like the look of a trailer that has 6” tall main rails. So I started with a piece of 3”x6”x.250 box tube and went to town on making a nice transition up to the tongue.
Thanks Len! I always try my hardest to lay down the nicest welds when I’m gonna be grinding and blending. It really makes the metal finishing process a lot easier when the weld is already flat. Patiently waiting for more updates on yours!Sweet! Kind of a shame to take a grinder to those welds but I get the desire to make the tongue look like it was formed that way.
Beautiful work.
That is beautiful work you did blending your welds! I'm totally a fan of frenching lights, kind of takes me back to the mini truck days!Spent some time the other night on my tail light boxes. Fitting, tacking, welding, blending. Very happy with how they turned out.

It's a little crazy how much talent there is here on the 'ol RDP and how willing they are to share. I say share deliberately because unlike lots of social media which is very much about "look at me" with no detail the guys like @Oliver1421 , @ChrisV , @cj222 and many others not only share what they are doing but show the detail of how. It's why I keep coming back here, I learn, and I am inspired to be better.Spent some time the other night on my tail light boxes. Fitting, tacking, welding, blending. I've always been intrigued in the learning process of how to do things and how to do things correctly. As we all know there are always much easier ways of doing things. I enjoy challenging myself to do things I've never done before and using the skills i have learned throughout my life. I'm my own worst enemy for sure. I do really enjoying coming on here and seeing all the talent and inspiration as well, you included Len! That's honestly the reason i decided to do a build thread. I drooled over yours for weeks. It's a little crazy how much talent there is here on the 'ol RDP and how willing they are to share. For reference, I looked at the taillight boxes and said to myself the top weld is a piece of cake, standard tig corner joint. The weld in the bottom of the box? Much different story... It's a tight space, you can't see in there, torch and cup don't hardly fit, not to mention getting filler rod in there, and it all blocks your view of the puddle. Me? I woulda welded the back side first and called it a day. Once the LED light is in there nobody knows. Welding the inside of the taillight box is better and testament to the skill displayed.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mike! I’m just glad that I’ve been able to learn how to do all this stuff, cuz there’s no way in hell I’d be able to pay someone to do it. I just need to learn how to do interiors and gel coating lol.I really appreciate your talent Gary! I don’t have the patience let alone the skill level displayed here.
I’m a huge fan of the fender/wheel combo.
When is the classic performance regatta? Would love to bring my 1990 21' Howard.A few shots from the Classic Performance Boats Regatta this passed weekend. Had the opportunity to have the boat on display at the party Friday night and got a dock spot for the event on Saturday at pirates!

Loving the updates! Keep 'em coming. Finally had a little time to work on the trailer again this week after work and even got a day in on Saturday. Decided it was time to start working on getting the fenders mounted, and with a fender that big it was going to need additional support in the middle of the fender. I picked up some stainless box tube and cut some 1” holes in it and tig welded in some 1” stainless tubing. Spent a good amount of time blending all the welds and running chamfers on all the tubes. Turned out pretty cool and has the appearance of a fully machined billet part. Used every clamp in my shop to clamp fixtures to the trailer to set fender heights to tack the fender supports in place. Had to use large chunks of aluminum as heat sinks when welding to keep the stainless from warping. The top side of the support pad will also get a rubber isolator for final assembly. Now I’ll start working on the steps and actual fender mounts.
Thanks Len! I'm a details type of guy. I already know that since I'm building my own trailer that its gonna get critiqued... so over the top it is lol. I think it will be really cool to say i built my own boat and trailer more than anything.Damn dude, the SS supports look great, as you said they look just like billet. I dig the scalloped shapes on the mounts too. Very cool.
I will mention that it's a special kinda sickness that drives people to put that much effort into a part that sits UNDER a fender in between two wheels on a trailer that sits so low that nobody but the guy that did the work will ever even notice, except for maybe the handful of other sickos like me.
Well done sir.
Thank you! I keep telling myself my lense is dirty on my welding hood, but I think old age is catching up to me lol. It’s getting much harder to see now.Beautiful welds. Nice job….![]()
Bummer to hear on the vision. I had great vision up until about 5 years ago. Now gotta have reading glasses. Maybe a set of readers might help.Thank you! I keep telling myself my lense is dirty on my welding hood, but I think old age is catching up to me lol. It’s getting much harder to see now.
I'll have to give it a shotBummer to hear on the vision. I had great vision up until about 5 years ago. Now gotta have reading glasses. Maybe a set of readers might help.
Do the lasik!!!! I was concerned for my wife who did it 20 years ago. Best investment that we have ever made. It was a game changer for her and still going. Ended up finding the best Dr in town and went there. Never a regert!!!Badass dude!
Yeah getting old sucks. My vision got bad 2 years ago and that’s when I kinda stopped fabrication. Made me really not enjoy it anymore and shop switched over to builds. I really want lasik but scared.
