Loving it brother. Even though it was 100 degrees today, I didnt mind!Following up @gqchris. How are you guys doing at the new house and state? Hope it's going great!!
I live in Peoria but go back to ca for work every other week. Not something I planned work wise but it works and I’m use to it. But yeh the hot season is coming. It’s when I shift from shooting and riding to jet ski and boat with some camping at the rim. Yeh it gets 20-25 degrees cooler there and the forest and lakes are like the sierras.Loving it brother. Even though it was 100 degrees today, I didnt mind!
I hate going back to Cali. I have to go occasionally now and it just blows.
Only thing I wish I did was try to convince her to leave earlier. But hey, we are here!
thanks for the thread... have a similar story. we went to visit with the wifes family in chino valley about a month ago. took a day driving around neighborhoods, and she said she decided we could do Prescott. Made an offer on a house before we even left town. I already feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and cant stop geeking out about the new possibilities.Loving it brother. Even though it was 100 degrees today, I didnt mind!

Congratulations! Things move a little slower. It was really weird for some of us, there isn't a freeway for 40 miles. Lots of stars in the night sky...grew up thinking I could see them all in the desert or at the river.thanks for the thread... have a similar story. we went to visit with the wifes family in chino valley about a month ago. took a day driving around neighborhoods, and she said she decided we could do Prescott. thank you.. slow is what i am looking for... established area (old people) is how the house has been referred to us as. Excited to boat in some new places, as well the outdoor activities. I am sure like @gqchris happy to not be the last ones holding the bag in California.Congratulations! Things move a little slower. I can attest as my wife and her sister both went to XCP. My wife’s great aunt is sister Joan Fitzgerald. She’s been there 62 years. If you decide to move to Phoenix. Here is the best high school in Phoenix for your daughter. Sure, I am biased. I sent my daughter here. It’s an all girls catholic school. It is actually connected to Brophy, the all boys high school.
Xavier College Preparatory
I expect to get some hate for this post, because most other high schools HATE Xavier and Brophy. Mainly because those schools do not like to loose. XCP has more State Championship Trophies than all the other high schools combined. When my daughter went there, XCP hadn’t lost a golf tournament in 26 years.
While attending XCP. My daughter won 2 State Soccer Championships. She was the star of the show her senior year. We beat Corona Del Sol 2-0, both goals being my daughters. Proud Dad!
Emma Stone and Aidy Bryant went to XCP.
Don’t forget to turn off the lights on your way out…Hijacking but I am 44 days until I get out of this hell hole. New home is southern Utah
Thats the best part! Since I am east valley, nature is just a skip away, and its not 10 million people trying to rush to the same spot!thank you.. slow is what i am looking for... established area (old people) is how the house has been referred to us as. Im so happy for you bro. Can you get Ashley back on here once you get there? I miss that guy!Hijacking but I am 44 days until I get out of this hell hole. New home is southern Utah
Issue with the local lakes is no beaches. It’s rocky shorelines everywhere you goThats the best part! Since I am east valley, nature is just a skip away, and its not 10 million people trying to rush to the same spot!
Youre gonna love it, it feels like a different world now and Im even out shopping for a little openbow because my wife sees the local lakes on her Social Media and was like. "when we going?"!
Congrats Brother!
We have been in Arizona (Parker/Havasu) for a year now and still are getting adjusted to people being friendly. I registered my 93 Ford Bronco for $56.00 for 5 years. It was $175 a year in Cali. Its great and loving it so far! I forgot how friendly people are. Isnt that sad? Even today in the DMV, everybody was chatting in line!
Felt great. And every day something small happens that tells me I did the right thing!
Oh and for my w2 employer, my benefits changed for the better health Insurance wise. Little cheaper, less deductible, and better iptions
No smog test in Arizona..... saving you more money. We have been in Arizona (Parker/Havasu) for a year now and still are getting adjusted to people being friendly. I registered my 93 Ford Bronco for $56.00 for 5 years. It was $175 a year in Cali.
We usually hit Canyon lake when we don't go to Havasu, 2 nice beaches at the top end of the lake to hang out at. The lakes are small though, sometimes only burn 10 gallons of gas. A Tonto launch pass is $80 for the year, good at all the east valley lakes, a day of boating might cost $150, big difference from a Havasu day.Thats the best part! Phoenix is strict on emissions testing. No smog test in Arizona..... saving you more money.
If you car is on collector car insurance, no smog needed. Just paid 75 for 2 years of reg on my Trans Am, no questions asked, just show the insurance proof. No special plate fee, you can run normal plates as well.Phoenix is strict on emissions testing.
That’s Dave’s call, he is still bannedIm so happy for you bro. Can you get Ashley back on here once you get there? I miss that guy!
Less strict then Cali, They allow at least One Monitor to not be in "ready state" which was failing my car in Cali.Phoenix is strict on emissions testing.

Love the run down, Thanks for this!!!These are my opinions on the local lakes:
Saguaro - get there early, or be forced to wait in the overflow parking. Parking in general sucks after you launch. Smallish lake. Has a beach up river that a lot of people hang out at.
Canyon - Beautiful views. On the smaller side. Kind of a pain to trailer there because of the blind, tight curves. One popular beach that people hang out at.
Pleasant - Decent sized lake, no beaches, lots of idiots, Multiple launch ramps - 10 lane ramp is a shit show when the sun starts going down - either get off early, or stay a little later if you choose to use it.
Bartlett - My favorite local lake. Water level can be an issue, though last year it was up quite a bit. Never really packed. It is small.
Apache - I've never been, but is tough to get to unless you take a long drive up an around Lake Roosevelt
Roosevelt - It's a big lake, has multiple ramps, can get rough if it's windy. A bit of a drive.
Skip the weekends at saguaro. We try to hit saguaro couple of times a week in the afternoon since it's only 20-30 min for us. Hit the water by 4pm and head home after the sun goes down. usually only a handful of boats during the week and half of them are fishing.Love the run down, Thanks for this!!!
The drive to Apache is crazy, especially if you have a trailer and it’s very small. These are my opinions on the local lakes:

Let us know what you think. My wife and I are interested in moving to Tennessee as well.So any input in Knoxville from anyone? going to go look at some homes in a few weeks.
Plumber Dave said Tennessee prices went crazy. He is supposed to close escrow this week in Kentucky. He sent me the link to the house. Nice spread for 500k. The ones in Tennessee He was sending a few years ago were on the 600k range. Those ones are 1-1.2 now.So any input in Knoxville from anyone? going to go look at some homes in a few weeks.
I’ll chime in, from someone who doesn’t live there, but visited many times (family). Knoxville is a university town, UT. You’ll see TN Vols stuff everywhere. Growing very fast, so get used to it. Many outdoor activities, close to the Smoky mountains, very picturesque. Many lakes nearby for boating. So any input in Knoxville from anyone? going to go look at some homes in a few weeks.
Got some family there, but there in the 800k area, plan to look in the 400k area lol, I will let you know what I think when I get back.Let us know what you think. My wife and I are interested in moving to Tennessee as well.
Yea some spendy areas for sure, had SIL dive but a nice 400k place on 3/4 of an acre, older home but all redone brick pad.Plumber Dave said Tennessee prices went crazy. My BIL goes to ever game, I'm retired so i really want to look at the golf scene and maybe boating area, not even sure I will boat much more so isn't a priority for sure, other thing would be health care.I’ll chime in, from someone who doesn’t live there, but visited many times (family). Nice little airport, Delta is the main carrier. Other than UT, big employer used to be Alcoa Aluminum, in the Maryville area (now named Arconic, or something like that, after Alcoa did a corporate split). Not as big anymore, but still sizable. Very friendly people, not as frenzied as SoCal and many big cities.
If you are looking to slow down a bit, could be for you. As usual, when you make a big move, it’s all about missing family and friends. That’s always been a big deal for us in the 6 or 7 big moves we’ve made. Good luck, lot to like about Knoxville.
You didn’t waste any time lol. Congrats! This thread got me pretty fired up in a good way. Not to thread jack but we close escrow next month on our new pad in minden NV. We are out in early January and are very excited for the new journey. Family and friends will be missed dearly but we landed a pad with plenty of room for guests. It’s a brand new build so we will need to landscape it, do blinds etc. but it’s a sweet pad on a cul de sac on an acre View attachment 1453803

800k is a deal compared to here. Was up in my old neighborhood. House next door to the one we grew up in is for sale. Nice remodel done to it. Cul de sac on a acre. I thought maybe 2-2.2 asking. Just reduced from 3,850,000.00 to only 3.5.Beautiful home, cul de sac on one acre is exactly what I’m hoping for.
The price for that in the South East Valley of AZ is 700-800k for a 2k sqf new build. Going to need the fiancée to get a job lol.
These homes are about 10-15 minutes from the city center of San Tan or 20 minutes to Queen Creek, but it’s a nice area at the base of the foothills and all the homes have property and nice views.800k is a deal compared to here. 800k gets you where I am at now. Harbor city 1000 sq ft on 5000 sq ft lot. 1950s house. My Lomita house I live in is over 800k now 600 sq ft. Got blueprints drawn up to ad on. Be worth 1.3-1.5 when I am done. Not even Torrance. Shitty schools.
50 minutes of no traffic driving isn’t bad. I swear it’s the traffic that kills you mentally. These homes are about 10-15 minutes from the city center of San Tan or 20 minutes to Queen Creek, but it’s a nice area at the base of the foothills and all the homes have property and nice views.
If I wanted that in the center of Queen Creek it’s an easy million+.
My Grandpa built in a similar style area up in Prescott Valley, the peace and quiet is nice, makes me think a 50 minute commute might be worth it..
Here is a home as an example.

This would be no traffic, my commute would only include a couple miles of freeway. It still sucks when you get off and just want to get home lol.50 minutes of no traffic driving isn’t bad. I swear it’s the traffic that kills you mentally.
Do you remember what that asphalt driveway cost you per square foot? This thread got me pretty fired up in a good way. Not to thread jack but we close escrow next month on our new pad in minden NV. For years I had a 10-12 minute commute with no freeways involved. Then that changed to 17 minute morning commute and a 45-50 minute afternoon commute.This. Once I moved next to my shop my quality of life was better. No more flair ups in traffic.
The heat or the libs?Arizona is starting to become inhabitable for me. Crazy what perspective is.

In AZ I’m about 40-45 both ways. Which apparently is long for AZ, people think I’m crazy when I say that, I tell them don’t move to CA lol.
After 28 years here, of my 28 year life, It's a little bit of everything. Not the same state. The heat or the libs?
