I don't know your age nor place in life but I will say after 60 if someone still has the burdens of material flashy stuff its just their choice and not one that appealed to me. Not a strip club guy but have been to some on both sides of border. Maybe the downers are the guys who have had bad experiences? Mexico carries a large stigma currently. The clubs down there you buy really expensive drinks for the girls. Like $20+ each and part of that is their fee to entertain you. They don't pressure you for anything. Like I said before and will this one last time, it isn’t so much the actions of the op that is disturbing (although it is on so many levels, I mean, a claimed twenty somethings best option is a geriatric mess? How sad is that?) but rather the complete mockery of anyone who questions it.

I think it’s indicative and representative of the societal decay that 99% of this site bitches about on a regular basis.
Yet it seems that when the rubber meets the road, not so many actually live their life or hold themselves to the values they espouse when it’s convenient to do so.

I wasn’t going to respond at all anymore, but the truth is that my phone has been blowing up all day with texts from members who are extremely disappointed with not only the content of the thread, but the name calling on almost every page by the op directed at members who do not offer praise, and moreover, the participation of the site owner in the continuous name calling and mockery.

I didn’t volunteer to be some sort of spokesperson, but here I am.
This site got me through the worst time of my life. Nothing else did, just the good people and the community that USED to be represented here.
That’s all different now.
I’m older, yes, but it isn’t just me.

Thanks for the info. I'm 67, retired, living in rural northern NV. My toys are not flashy. They are mostly '60s/'70s muscle cars or hot rods and are driver quality. I don't take them to car shows but rather just enjoy driving them around. I have a crawler Jeep and a SxS, the jet bote, and some other 4x4 trucks. They all have utility value over show value which probably makes them desirable to people in the Mexican desert so thus my concern about theft.

My place up here is on 5 acres, full fenced and in a rural area. I'm debt free and have a good chunk of $ in investments. I could keep my place here and store a lot of my cars here I guess while I explored Mexico.

I'm a pretty active guy doing a lot of hiking, fishing, exploring, etc. as well as the off road driving of my vehicles. I also recently bought an E-350 which I am converting to a camper van for traveling. My thought was to an exploratory road trip into Mexico and see what it is like. I'm just not sure where to go or what to see. I have a bit of concern safety wise, about traveling there solo (with my two dogs) and becoming a target.

Thats a great post...we have a guy on RDP traveling the Baja Peninsula at the moment... I'll find/ forward his thread cause I'm following him learning... he's been a bit silent of late. As to your concerns about safety its basic stuff as it would be anywhere I think.... just keep the watches and shiny vehicles at home... my gut tells me to blend as best possible to be on safe side.... that said I see plenty of Range Rovers and the like but why be a target. I even removed my front CA tag off Fernando just so all the cops will see is tag from behind. I think your concept of taking that converted F 350 down through the entire coastal peninsula to say Cabos tip ideal... I have a gal friend who has done that trip 4 times and raves about the 1k or so mile drive. I visited Ensenada recently [a 45 min drive down coast] for the end of the Baja 1000 and I believe they ran from Cabo to Ensenada. Just take a month and check things out is my advice. I got on a FaceBook sub site named Rosarito Living and learned a ton... I bet the entire peninsula has such so ask questions and you'll get great feedback from folks doing exactly what you might wanna do.
