A guy got stabbed at the sand bar 20ish years ago causing the weekend closures.

I was 8-10 years old watching girls 69 while a crowd cheered.

The lake didn’t change, you guys just got older.

Biggie held a concert in copper canyon. People were banging on the top decks of the house boats lol.
Hah, beat my by 1 minute, but yeah... :p

For me Havasu has always been a weekday outing. Travel out on Sunday or Monday, be on the water for a few days then blast home on Friday before the weekenders come. The Channel has always had a bad element, lots of non-boaters out getting crazy, drunk and stupid. The best times are Sept and Oct during the week when all the idiots are gone.

This becomes an option as we get older but the 20-45 yr olds grinding daily, weekends are the only option.
First step was always stretching it til Mondays, lol😁

Havasu is what you make of it, just like anything else in life. If the channel is not your seen, go hit a beach in one of the hundreds of spots on the lake. If we see boat's beached with kid's playing in the water, we pull in next to them and 9 time's out of 10 we have a great time.
^^^^^^^^^^ right there, when I take friends on the lake for the 1st time, I'll ask them what they like to do, eg: you wanna go watch pasties and thongs all day, we can do that, you want tubing and water sports all day, we can do that, you want to chill on a semi-secluded beach all day, we can do that (and yes, they still exist but I'm not talking!), you want a scenic drive up river, we can do that...

I’d start by pulling all the party barge permits

This!!
Havasu for me today is about spending time with family. Due to that, the last 10 years, I would avoid the south portion of the channel on Friday and Saturdays. Now I avoid that section of channel Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Made the mistake of taking my in-laws through that Sunday at 3pm ish, and made a comment “at least most of the folks on the party barges have clothing on today, unlike Friday and Saturdays”

In retrospect it isn't different from our youth when Mardi Gras beads and Titties were flashing left&right. You'd get whiplash trying to eyeball them all 😜
The players & themes change but not the antics.
Imo, the biggest difference is just the overall disrespect for one another and property..

Let’s review who went to the overpriced Too Short type concert… the same ones from 25 years ago going to the free MTV concert 😂
hypocrites dont like to be called out. no one from the site when to that.
If Mead would fill back up I bet we'd loose half the Raider fans in the channel.
what does this mean?
raiders fans have been going to havasu before it was in vegas?

Not just this. But the highway into Havasu and the city streets are just littered with trash. This has to be one of the trashiest cities I have seen. Next time you are driving into town take take a look on the side of the hwy between Acoma and Industrial.

The only time we go through the channel anymore is if we brought someone who has never seen it. It honestly stresses me out going through there. To many boats and people. Did I use to love the shit show. Hell yeah! And if we did a guys trip right now I am sure we would be in there for some time of the trip but not in my boat LOL. I have no problem saying I am getting older and the that is not for me anymore I can also say I was one of these assholes who had the stereo up and was being loud and drinking. I can also say I had respect for the people next to me as well. I am 3rd generation "river rat" grandpa and dad grew up on the Parker strip and I was raised to be courteous and aware of my surroundings now that doesn't mean I always was but you know.

Any way If you dont like the drama/shit show stay away from the popular areas. Oh and there is way more "river" than Havasu. I dont understand the people that only go to Havasu. Go check out some other colorado river water before its gone o_O 😆 ;)

You were the drunk assholes with the stereo blasting but you had respect for the boaters next to you. Copy that 😂

Thank you for being honest.. everyone of us has annoyed someone next to us at some point in our lives.

I have no problem with people smoking that stuff, but please keep it to yourself. The worst part is raising a child with that legalized now. That is a top reason for me moving to Texas. I would prefer to raise my son where it's not legal.
I agree. Its that heavy vape wierd smelling TLC shit they have now that make me nauseous. Doesnt even smell like weed anymore..

Ok well you get the idea. LOL I guess that sounded better in my head than it came out in text. Oh well.

I’m not saying there aren’t classless people out there, and probably more of them.

But we can’t act like we haven’t ever done the same things in the past at one point or another and now look down our nose at everyone else for doing it.

Thanks for being real and saying you tried to do the right thing but sometimes the fun got the better of you. That pretty much describes all of us.

Hate to say it, but before Brandon leaves office it's going to be legalized nationally. They will use the Reconcilliation Clause to pass it under tax revenue statutes. Just My Opinion.
Question, right now today is the Islander as nice as it ever been? Still clean and well run?
No doubt Islander good as ever because of one reason, the place is well managed. That simple, you gotta have a standard of living and must be enforced.
Yore not seeing enforcement of laws in the Channel post George Floyd. The LEO's are pretty much hands off today unless there is a violent crime. 10 years ago most of the drunken/drugged out thugs and wanna-be strippers in the channel would be hauled off to jail. 2022 it's all good.

Not to mention driving into town and seeing the desert littered with RV’s and run down shit at the free BLM campground..

I'm an LHC visitor. Over the years, my taste in recreation has changed. So have the means to participate. We all have choices. I can't imagine taking my kids to the channel for multiple reasons. When the kids were young, we boated at Kathrine Landings rather than LHC and Parker, with the occasional trip south as an adult weekend. When the shine wears off, I will find a new place to spend the winter.

LHC and the Channel is not the only choice for boating.

If I were an LHC resident full-time and not just a snowbird, I would participate in local government. I'm not certain LHC knows what it wants to be when it grows up. It seems to keep falling into the same loop. The summer party intensifies until it goes too far or the economy crashes. Followed by a downturn and a rinse and repeat cycle when money starts to flow again. If you are a resident and don't like what you see, get involved. For the rest of us tourists, just go somewhere else if you don't like it.

Let's be honest, is LHC that nice, to begin with? I think I've seen this movie before with MTV spring break ect etc.

Chances are many old-timer river rats have participated in these types of shinanigans going well back into the 60s. Some of the shit that went on in Parker is Legendary.

LHC is pretty damn nice in the winter; for summer, there are a lot of other lakes in this country and most underused, free launch ramps and plenty of parking. You just won't likely see custom boats, naked skanks, and 100 boats all blaring different music at level 11 stuffed in a channel full of piss.

This is just comical. I've been going to the river for years. The only thing that's changed is my age and family size. This site in particular, before I joined but would watch, was entertaining. It was wild. It was part of what made a young decent looking adolecent boy fall in love with the river. Now we complain about the wildness

I don't go to havazoo for a reason. I usually don't have these issues on the river unless i go looking for it. With the exception of one time, where the neighbors were blaring too short until 4am. Strange, not one raider fan in that crowd. They definitely weren't from Compton. More like lakewood.
When we told them our kid was having a hard time sleeping. The wife said to put ear plugs in my 3 year old.

What did I learn? Well, don't stay there again. But I sure did go party with them for a bit. Made the best of it.

Honest question, on a beach with your own group and someone smokes weed. Other boaters pull up on the beach you're "privately" at. Who's the inconsiderate one in this scenario? Asking for a friend.

What about cigarette smoke? Is that acceptable or unacceptable? Again asking for a friend. I just want to make sure I get these rules down. Country music only? Or are other genres accepted? Need to make sure my Playlist is appropriate.

If you avoid the channel 99% of your “problems” go away.

Put some miles between yourself and the nearest launch ramp 😉
Just like Glamis

I used to go out to the dunes for 3-4 days and never visit Olds or the drags and have a great weekend. I would come back home and hear people bitching about the S-show at olds and poeple getting run down at the drags.

The Channel has always been the place for showing off, getting drunk and screaming Hey LAM !

It's a nice place on most weekdays.

Careful, you are going to get yoreself kicked out of the RDP house of soapboxes.
