I had heard good things about the Shadow which is why I would go take a look. I have also heard that they are a really complicated build due to many mold pieces. Especially if I could get one with the next engine up for the same price as one of the competitors. This is exactly my point competition is good. I may not go with an Ultra at the end of the day but that doesn't mean that there isn't a buyer that would.

The 28 Shadow Deck is a multi mold build. All other shadows 27, 26 and down are much easier to build

I'd be camping in front of the shop waiting to talk to them. If they are not returning your phone calls (or jesus not answering the phone!?!) you should be concerned.

As a business owner myself, communication is the only thing that matters. I have no dog in this fight, but it looks bad from my limited view.

Rusty is answering the phone.. lol. I said that earlier on in this thread! They aren’t out of business, and hey are open. I call the number and he answers or texts me right back.

I pointed out those two little details and the mighty internet said “why are you sticking your neck out!! It’s another OCM!!”

I replied I’m not sticking my neck out. It has been posted here and other places that the doors were closed. I was just clearing up that particular point of confusion that they are not out of business and do in fact answer the phone.

From there this thread has gone a few different directions but at the heart of it the point of the entire thread was they are open.

One thing, horizon should be building the magic 'H" hull, not the old one. The new hull had promise. I was on the list to buy one when it all took a shit. It looks better. Works better.

Well just to recap here Keith..

Customer from TX posts on Facebook (RiverWhips and another page). That rusty stripped his boat etc..

Facebook page members go on rampage and many of them go as far as to say Rusty should be killed among many other colorful comments.

It is posted on here and on FB that the doors are closed and they are out of business.

I clarify that they are not out of business and are open. I also (knowing both sides of the story about the boat that was pulled) make a sympathetic post towards small business and relate to the idea that everyone goes through money troubles and I’d rather see him succeed and make things right with a few of those guys then go under.

Shares the same empathy of the situation and decide to send more work to Ultra in the face adversity.. (which by the way puts me somewhere between Jesus and the Holy Ghost for marketing by the way)

You share the fact that you have no problems getting ahold of him (reinforcing the point I made in the first post of this thread). Declare the thread bullshit.

Now you being the ever loyal customer to Ultra recommend that the members of rdp to leave rdp and go and get hats and stickers from the page that the members not only are rooting for him to go out of business but are actually suggesting to kill the man..

You can purchase RDP Hats and shirts etc down at the Ultra store in the channel if you feel so inclined to help Rusty. .

I have posted a lot of pics in the past. I have told Rusty for a year now if he wanted to make real money to abandon the boat deal and focus on paddle boards only! Lol.

The optics don’t look good. Couple that with some troubling stories, and there is some cause for concern if you are doing business there.

No one here is saying burn the guy at the stake, or that he is a criminal.

Yes, but I know both sides of that story. In the end, customer got boat after change order differences were resolved. 2 customers have reported lengthy builds online, I have not talked to Rusty about either one, but I do know Rusry runs a very lean shop and stretches himself thin and in too many directions at the same time. However he has never not returned my text messages.

Sorry to get you in a wad Dave, it wasn't a slam on RDP or your efforts, just the shallow crowd that keeps harping on the point and don't have any actual dealings with the situation. I used to like River Whips but now not so much, it's become so dilluted with the Orange County crowd, I don't even look at a RW stickered car anymore. The pics are that they post are cool though! Again, just sarcasm misconstrued and I apologize. RDP is my go to boating and fireside chat site.
