The worlds last male White Northern Rhino died in March, so give it a decade or so and this disagreement too will be resolved.

http://www.allaboutwildlife.com/white-rhino-saved-from-extinction

Dan, please read the bottom, it addresses the NWR and the case of its extinction. Asia...Asia is the cause of most of these problems. They crave, Rhino horn, Elephant Ivory figurines, Chopsticks, and Dildos. Lion penis, and bones, Tiger parts. MORE hunters in the field is a huge deterrent.

I agree whomever killed that beautiful animal was wrong and to me a criminal which is a poacher.

I am not understanding what the meaning of "sport hunter" is though. Hunting is considered a sport and hunters are responsible people that follow game and hunting rules/laws.

If you are defining "sport hunter" as someone that kills for the trophy of a hyde, that person is a poaching illegal hunter.

You poke at Nganda who is a law abiding hunter and the farthest thing from a poacher. He hunts for sport in legal situations and what he kills is consumed and feeds people that need the protein. He only kills animals that are specifically targeted controlled managed environments based on research by experts.

I am defining sport hunter as anyone who kills an animal for its tusks, horns, head or skin for the sake of bragging, hence why I say they are no better than a poacher! The BS about the meat doesn’t waste and going to the indigenous doesn’t fly with me because they are going to kill to eat, which I’m fine with.
Nganga likes to bump this thread every so often and we’ve been through every aspect of the argument, if you want to stroll memory lane again I’m more than willing! You yourself said you could never kill an elephant, now you and CTG want to shore up Nganga...hypocrites!

Btw, thought you said in another thread you are “out”?

Your opinion is worthless. You do not hunt, you do not understand, nor are even willing to look and see how many conservation programs there are to specifically aid and protect animals that are in danger on this planet.

Almost every hunter I have ever met was a good person, who hunted understanding there is a balance. They eat what they kill, or provide the meat to services that only aid the communities near by.

You are only here to continue to berate people who actually care.

SS, I don't "like to bump this thread," I put up relevant information as I get it. I read a ton about this subject. Look at my last 5-6 posts in here, Its simply information, thats all, no arguing, just factual information.

Are you resolute in your stance that Sport Hunters are the same as poachers?

Here's how I read this; You are willing to accept Elephants become extinct, yet you are NOT willing to look at SPORT hunting with at least an open mind as to its potential conservation merits.

Safari Club International, Mule Deer Foundation, Desert Bighorn Sheep Society, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Arizona Antelope Society, Ducks Unlimited, Boone & Crockett, Rowland Ward, Arizona Elk Society and Arizona Wildlife Federation are all organization which support poaching and poachers? I will fool around and try to come up with a dollar amount that these organization donate to wildlife conservation through well regulated SPORT hunting.

It’s your privilege to support these organizations, but again if you hunt for the reasons I already mentioned your no better than a poacher! How much elephant meat did you bring home to consume yourself? I’ve never consumed elephant and won’t, but it would seem to me African animals from the deer or pig families would be better for human consumption, idk?

I guess in your eyes I'm a poacher. I won't defend it or argue with you. I hunt for all the reasons you list, and many more. The drive for me and many others to hunt is internal, its instinctive. I have little to no control over the drive to hunt.

SS, I won't try to change your mind. I'm just putting up information from an African country about an African problem with African wildlife and what the African people want to do to manage the problem.

I'm not sure I get the connection?

Hmmm, gay marriage? I think I've given you credit for opening my mind to it and me eventually accepting it.

I'm just following your Christian heritage as well as the other Trumpkin Christians in here contained in John 20:23.

I can’t believe you’d waste so much of your time on these two?

I understand your passion for the sport. I don’t hunt but I understand the passion of a sport with danger.

You have an opinion on this, and these two (you two fuckers notice I’m not calling you any creative names here;) :D ) guys already have their minds made on the subject for one. Nothing you present will sway them.

and for number two are just poking at you to rile you up. Why continue to fuel their little internet self indulgent masterbation session?

I know! Maybe we can make some kind of bet. Dan?

Sure you don’t! [emoji57]

And I’m fine with it if your intention is to engage me, which it is and you will deny it.

There are no elephant hunters on RDP to my knowledge other than you and your buddies you brought over for tribal reasons. It would seem to me they would get more out of your “readings” than anyone here ever would?

Harvesting per management plan is harvesting.
It doesn’t matter if it’s “sport” or sustenance.
You seem to be ignoring a simple fact that I’ve found to be true with every legal Hunter I’ve ever known.
Sport and sustenance hunters do NOT want to hunt any species to extinction. Quite the opposite.
Poachers want only immediate benefit and do not care about sustainability.
It’s clear that you have zero comprehension about the intricacies of game management and certainly no understanding of African game management.
I am no expert either, but I know enough to realize that blind emotional crusading is not a sound management plan.

I liken it to toying with a cat with a laser pointer.
That’s insulting to all cats.
And, I’m not a cat person.

Did you miss my question about how much elephant meat did you bring home for your own consumption?
Here’s a couple more;
A bull elephant weighs what 5 tons?
How do these villagers get all this meat from where it’s killed back to the village?
How is the meat stored, do they have walk-in freezers to store that much meat?
Do YOU personally help in the processing of all this meat so it doesn’t go to waste?
Lastly and I’ll ask again, is bull elephant meat tastier than something from the deer or pig family of Africa?
I have my ideas about the answers to these questions, anxious to hear your responses.

A poacher and sport hunter are the same?

Yes, only difference is the sport hunter pays to do it because in his mind it gives him a clear conscience. The end result is the same, a dead elephant killed for its tusks.

Well at least you started in a congenial manner. But then back to your normal aggression and insults.

I was "out" of the thread I posted my statement in......Still open to others so don't get your typical false hopes up toughie.

And your posts after this one have gone back in full to your anger and ignorance of topics being discussed. Trump has your head well in hand. It's fully evident you are not here to discuss any topic, only blather on and hate and insult.

I don't need to shore up Nganga, he can handle himself. Sad you are so hateful you can't appreciate a person for the intelligent content he brings about a world you have no clue exists. You form your narrow opinion and shut down the whole of topic.

What a pathetic approach to life you have and how you miss the big picture when given the opportunity to learn a few things.

Exactly this. ^^^^^^ that is (was) my effort. In case it wasn't clear, I'm not here to argue about it. I've killed my Elephant and my Lion, my motives are purely for conservation.

Strange, I could of sworn a sport hunter has to apply for a tag, based on conservation studies while a poacher avoids said tags and conservation concerns?

Here's a picture. Its not mine, I didn't take any. When an Elephant hunt is being conducted, the locals know. They are waiting for a radio call..."Jumbo down, YAMA"
literally hundreds show up. ALL the meat is cut up and to answer your question, it is dried in the sun into "Biltong" they store it in the shade and boil it to prepare it for safe consumption.

elephant-hunting-4.jpg

Heres a picture I did take. Graphic as hell. BUT, it clearly shows you the difference in "what happens" and the difference in how a legally sport hunted elephant is processed and how a poached elephant is processed. A poacher simply cuts the face off to remove the tusks and simply fucks off, leaving everything.

Dollars from the first picture, help stop the results from the second picture. But i'm simply a poacher. Still don't see a difference?

I took that picture in Tanzania in 2015. I saw the rotting carcasses of literally over one hundred Elephants. I saw no more that 9 live ones. Most of them were wearing a "Tanzania bracelet" (wire snare) of had festering bullet wounds. This was our Government game scout Mabuka, we found these in a poached carcass that poachers couldn't find. I'm sure this guy kept the shit after the Safari.

So these kills take place within walking distance of the village, I don’t see any means of transporting 5000 lbs of meat?

What did you take from the elephant you killed then?

Is elephant meat tastier or better yet, more nutritious than say deer or pig?

I assumed that they dried the meat.
Just watching “naked and afraid XL” showed how “Matt” cut his antelope (or whatever it was) up into little ribbons and hung it all in the trees to dry like jerky. At one point he said he had 20 days worth of dried meat.

The natives in AK do the same thing with salmon. They smoke it and dry it. You see racks and racks of it hanging as you drive up rivers in the interior.

You are to stupid to realize the number of folks in the picture each carry a portion?

You've failed in bidding elephant transport 101......Take a day off to think about it.

Elephant meat is just OK.

Walking distance to us in the west and to a rural African are completely different conversations. Their women walk miles daily carrying water and firewood.

“Walking distance” may be defined differently by African villagers as compared to, say, some idiot banging away on his IPad in his air conditioned house in Tucson?
