None of it is realistic, it’s pure marketing. “Half ton towable”. See how many times you can find that on an RV manufacturer website! It sure is, until it’s realistically equipped and loaded down for the camping trip a nice family has been dreaming of in their brand new trailer. Meanwhile, Captain 1/2 ton pickemuptruck or SUV driver gets the big greasy shaft the first time he hits a long grade during summer vacation.

What setup would you guys recommend for towing a 10r? Truck and trailer.

agreed
To be clear, the ONLY reason air brake equipped Pushers aren’t held to a Commercial Operator standard in Ca is from lobbying from AARP
There will be a case one day where a pusher plows into and kills people and the public will cry foul the driver was never tested, let alone knew how to test their brakes

until then, hook up those baby trucks to big haulers and strap those 85 year old bankers behind 40’+ Pushers and mash those throttles.....
Yeeee. Haaaaw!

I understand your point but there’s no air brake endorsement any longer for anyone, commercial drivers or RV’s. But getting your class A you do have to test for it. RV owners do not so there’s that.

Would it really matter if one of the big 3 half ton trucks had to slow a bit on a grade as long as they were in the right lane? I do agree people need to educate themselves no matter what truck or trailer they buy. A properly sized and weighted trailer will be fine behind a solid built half ton. Many do not take the time to set up the hitch correctly and do not pay attention to how they load it. There may have been a time or 2 when I could have been Rollin dirty with the attitude loaded with the rhino. That trailer was hard keep bounce weight. It actually towed better with the black and gray full.

my trailer tows better with the rzr in it and no water. Black and grey don’t make a difference for me. The trailer tows alright empty. It needs some weight in it

Endorsement or no endorsement you get tested to know how the air brakes work on a commercial test that’s my point sorry I wasn’t exactly 1000% perfect lol!

Towing police input on this one, please? Saw it on the 40 last weekend. Who the hell needs a trailer anyway?!

Sketchy AF if you ask me.

Would be a lot safer if the 1/2 ton was pulling the motorhome with the RZR on top, at least that’s what I’ve heard...

Damn. That checks all the boxes on recent RDP threads. Flat-towing, half-ton and UTV! If only the truck had a boat trailer behind it.

Didn't Eliminator have something like this? A crew cab dually Chevy with a baby cat v8 diesel in it? Late 70's truck, in the early 80's?

Dan'l
I’m not sure on that, but this Was a 454 gas motor. I think the count was like 17 tires on the way there

Wrong. Rzr should have been towing the RV, with the truck on top of the RV.
With as heavy as these new 1/2 tons are I think it would make the motorhome too top heavy, should probably put the motorhome on top of the 1/2 ton.

The only way someone could appreciate the modern brakes on the new trucks is to have run out of brakes on an older truck without modern brakes. It's a shitshow I will never put myself through again. I believe it was coming down Sunshine pass heading east into Vegas. There is nothing like deciding how you're going to die.
