Kenny Robert’s was as bad as they come. Talented beyond belief. If you ever saw him ride, you’d know.

Made it home safe & sound in time to watch the Bear Bottom Resort fireworks from our deck with my hot wife.
I'm feeling a Shadow rip session early tomorrow, hope HydroSkreamin can drag his ass outta bed....

Good chance this 18'6" Checkmate with Erude 200 is gonna join our LOTO Church soon. All fresh interior, new tires, motor completely rebuilt last year, new 30 gal aluminum tank, new gauges, fairly clean 44 yr old boat, great fun on our side of the lake, very cheap fun & an extra boat when Church Members & family visit

F-1 star and Parker Enduro regular, Greg Foster has passed. Godspeed to him. Tough racer, super nice guy. He will be missed. Greg helped put outboards on the map. Greg partnered with Alan Stoker to win Parker many times. Glad to say I raced with him. He was boating royalty.

@lake p.a.l. , @BlowMe and I ran the StressEliminator to The Cave on the first leg of the Performance Boat Center/Mercury Racing Outboard Fun Run today.

For being what I believe was the oldest and shortest boat in the run, I’d say we held our own and got a front row parking spot. Kinda hard to pick it out without the red arrow 😁

There was some very nice hardware there today.

@HydroSkreamin thanks for the ride in that badass machine! Had an incredible time. I didnt get very many pictures and all i got was of us heading out to start the run.

Glad you enjoyed it as much as me!

Here’s the shot from the helicopter I’ve been dying to see. I’d say Rob Rich got a great shot of us as we were passing that Cig that is out of frame to the port side.

The (rough) water wasn't a problem?
We didn't do the entire run in the Daytona. We ran from PBC to Cave, +/- 12 miles, it was fairly rough but Johnny REALLY knows how to run his boat. He generously offered for me to drive it back to PBC. It was very tempting but I don't have enough seat time to drive his boat thru crap water

I think about trailering around a boat to different poker runs and so I'm always curious what is the smallest boat that would allow one the experience with the least commitment/hassle.

Like the Nordic 21 but assume it would beat one up too much?

FPC has approximately a 25' length minimum for the KW run.

That a more reasonable minimum?

So maybe something like the 25 Chaudron?

What would be your choice?

No question a 28 Skater would b your best choice. Low maintenance, super easy to trailer, get thru almost any water, perfect 4 passenger boat.

Love the 28 Skater - a widened flat-deck with 300Rs is one of my favorite boats.

But it's a different category boat than the 23 Daytona that prompted the question: twice the maintenance, more hassle to trailer, and three times the cost.

And it isn't the smallest boat capable. That's part of the fun/challenge - holding your own with the shortest boat in the run.

The other part is the cost: I'd like a new boat under $200k (I've other hobbies).

Whatever you choose will seem to be ideal until the weather/wind conditions change down here. Those changes come fast and hard, sometimes for short duration, sometimes for the rest of the day. A small cuddly or someplace to crawl under is nice if you have to hide in the mangroves and wait it out. A nice Garmin or Simrad too.

My 25 Talon was rock solid over a chop, but wife always said she felt more comfortable and safer in the 23 Daytona. Just an FYI.

25 Liberator with single new V10 400R
Not certain you can build one under 200k but I sure would hope so

That's one advantage a vee has, for sure.

Don't like the look, but that's a contender.

A new 2020 with twin 300Rs was listed for $174K.

And Randy Corson seems like a great guy to work with.

Did you ever get a chance to look at Another One?

Bigger than I'd like, but a single engine DW-28 could be another option.
