Gettin ready for the big block spankin party.
Ahhhhhh. So you're the one who ended up with my old outboard motor.
9.5 should be sufficient.
So, do you sit at the transom like a crackerbox?
Asking for a friend.
Dan'l

Hey Jerry!
Thanks as always for keeping our history alive through your pictures and videos.
I have seen the picture of the Unblown Long Deck before, but never in color.
One of the next boats on my build list is the Long Deck below.
It has been re-gelled in the original “Cold Fire” green (Bergeron told me a lot of the early boats were that green because he had barrels of gel that color).
We are going to build the boat in the theme of the early longdeck.
I’ve already got a set of tall ram tube injectors(Hilborn not Enderles as pictured).
Won’t be a clone by any means, just think it’ll be cool throwback look.
Is there any chance you have any more pictures of this LongDeck?
Appreciate it.

I have one of these that I will run some day lol

Hey Dave. Maybe it's the photo, but that doesn't look like a long deck????Hey Jerry!

Can’t imagine what THAT would look like.I’ll have to look. Julian Jr. talks about cut down cold fires too. Interesting right?
It’s awful hard to tell from a picture. But she is.Nevermind, I looked at the other side. The graphics were playing tricks on me.
Can’t imagine what THAT would look like.
Would be interesting to see.
Super hard to tell for sure.I think this is a cut down Cold Fire.

The Hobbit Sanger is so good looking. We’re they competitive with a Sanger?
Dave, give me a couple days to get over to the shop. I think I may have a set like you are looking for. I'll get better pictures. I don't think I have the mounts but I'm sure you could fab them pretty easily.Super hard to tell for sure.
Looking at one of the first pictures you posted and comparing it to the last ones, if you compare the bottom bend in the zoomies to the top of the gunnel as well as the distance from the bottom of the tank to the gunnel, the two boats look about the same. The cap paint and number size definitely adds to the deception.
Maybe?
Thanks for the long deck picture!
Now I just need to find a decent set of stacked tanks and a couple of barrel style seats!
Anyone know of either around?

I agree Jerry. It's a long deck, and they were taller at the transom. This looks closer to the height of a race deck. Compare it to the K555.I think this is a cut down Cold Fire.

Grich drove the bubble deck Hobbit. They crashed a lot of them and were usually behind the b boats. That's what I remember. Sanger sponsored Chuck Boyd's racing program so that was cool.
Grich drove the bubble deck Hobbit.
He told me it was about the most illl handling boat he’d ever driven.
Flipped it and broke his back.
Casted from the chest down if I remember right.

Gordon Jennings in the Liberty though was more than competitive.
He battled Julian every race and bested him fairly often.
This was back when boat racing drew huge crowds.
Hundreds of dollars were bet on every K final.
When he was killed in a flip, Julian hung a one bouy and was the first one in the water with Gordy.
Heard the detailed story from Julian himself.
Mr. Jennings was a Heck of driver and great guy!
He was a frequent visitor up at the Carlsbad Lagoon where we hung out.

That may have been the first or second time I was there. Thanks for starting this thread Jerry. It's the only reason I frequent this place.Shan's boat in the background.
Still trying to figure out how to properly post pictures, but decided to mine some of my flash drives.
Larry Dahlhoff bought one of the Sanger K14 boats for a river play toy. Built a blown gas motor and said it was an evil handling beast! Played with the plates and got better but still was a handful. Larry gave praise to Bob Long for driving the Sanger as a K boat!Grich drove the bubble deck Hobbit.

Let's try this again. Unfortunately, I'm not as organized as Jerry, or as a good a photographer, so my stuff may seem to be a bit random. Lots of good memories for me here.

Thanks Jerry. As luck would have it I have time on my hands. I've needed to cull the chaff and organize these for awhile, so now seems like a good time. I have plenty more I can share, and it would be cool to start shooting again.Neither of us are on par with Matt Koch but your pics are at least as good as mine and often significantly better.
Thanks for contributing here!
Conant would know, but I seem to recall Miss Arizona Navy was "recruited" at a strip bar. I could be wrong. I was a member. Meetings at the Spaghetti Factory. Good times!View attachment 1271141

Larry built the Sanger when he moved to Big River for a river cruiser. He sold it to a family in Big River and I never saw the boat again. I don’t know if the people he sold the boat to still have it or if they still live in Big River. The last time I saw the boat was at Irvine lake in your picture.
I might have a set of mounts let me check the shelf...My Man!
Let me know!
Appreciate it.
