Steve sr was a complete Asshole don’t know how he stayed in business 🤬
Yeah well, some us happened to like that grumpy asshole and he stayed in business because at the time he's the guy who did many of us right for years.
This was of course back in the day when Havasu wasn't filled with boutique boat shops and overrun by the "Big Boat, small penis" crowd.

I happen to feel bad for Steve Sr. although I'm not sure he's still among the living.

Certainly not mine, although I'd be the first to admit there were days I was met with a few uttered grumbles. I ignored them, that was just Steve, yet whatever my needs, the man got me fixed up and on my way, and I was no big boat, fat wallet type either, just an old school river rat with a Pfaff powered Cole.
For my wife and I, we'd often stop by just to chat a few moments with Steve and Kelly, nothing formal about it, they were part of what we enjoyed about our Havasu trips.

Seems obvious, you had a far different relationship, that happens.

The courts just forced him to rip off more people in order to pay the others. Rob Peter to pay Paul.

He’s been a pile of shit as long as I can remember. What a joke on the hand slap. Maybe the book should be thrown at these guys that do this and it might open others eyes to be stand up people. Thief’s should all be throw down the mine shafts in the desert and be forgot about. 🤬

OJ "had to pay" too.. and hasn't paid a dime. He will probably come up with the $125K to stay out of jail, and plead poverty on the rest.

Like I said, no one cares some rich guys with boats get ripped off. Plead 20 some felonies down to 1 with probation if you pay up on 30% of what you owe? No one will ever be made whole, the court will say "You guys got 30% back, you should be happy".

Yep. So fucked up. 😡

I did Steve's outboard work, on the side, when he was in Elsinore about 180 years ago. He was very cool back then and Kelly was even cooler. I remember her with a baby on her hip most of the time. She used to drive into Riverside to the shop I worked at to pick-up parts about twice a week and spent at least an hour B/S'n with us. She was one heck of a nice gal and very easy on the eyes!!!!!!!

She was, so sad to hear she's gone. She once came into my shop wearing these super thin Capri pants, my dog ran up behind her, jumped on her and pulled her paints down, she looked at me in shock then said: " You trained him to do that" She laughed and I fainted. 🤣 RIP Kelli you were a good one.

If I recall, Kelly in her youth was a good ski racer, and I thought she was related to Lance Faulkner, sister perhaps ??
Anyway, she was an awesome person and a joy to be around. 😘

Hadn‘t seen this posted. Judge clearly wanted to make a statement. Guys get less for murder.
12 years...he was looking at 7 years of probation per his deal if he paid $125k in restitution... guess he couldn't come up with the coin and an example was made.

Another poorly written article...

SOOO - did he not pay the 125? Did the judge decide to to send him to jail because he could ("LeProhon’s sentence may have been reduced to seven years of probation)?

It felt like the article got cut off and we aren't seeing the rest of it.

What does sentenced to 12 years even mean? How long is mandatory? Any credit for time served already? When/if will he be eligible for parol?

All that said - I wish the big city judges and prosecutors would adapt this approach to all the thievery and lawlessness we are seeing nation wide.

Based on that I'm assuming he didn't come up with the $125K. He will be out way early I'm sure.

While I agree with your assumption - the article is very poorly written (or the editor cut it off for space?)

I don't think I have seen a well written article from them :)

To your point, there is a paywall there. They want you to subscribe for $10/month.

well knowing arizona and the reason i got out of it he wont do 12 years as long as he is a good boy inside and gets no tickets. Ive heard there are some cases there making them do 65 percent of there time i could be wrong but i know people that still work in system . Atleast he will have fun if he gets to play xbox inside

Tough lesson and many good years of his life now wasted but he knew what he was doing when he did it. He knew right from wrong and with choice comes consequences. Unfortunately for him the judge had zero mercy. If you don’t want to go to jail don’t commit such crimes. Pretty simple 🤷‍♂️

I feel like from the intiial plea offer of 7 years probation if he came up with the $125k, to the sentencting of hitting him for 12 years and $395k restituion something else happened, that seems one extreme to another. Like there is more to the story

Here’s a photo of the article in the paper if anybody cares to read it. Sorry I’m not technically astute enough to link it for free.🤓
