If he’s expecting Gary to finish it, expect to not be on the water any time soon. Took him several months to tell me that it would take him several months to get my heads done [emoji849]

I think 1350 quadrotorsSeemed like clayton lost an engine quite a while ago, I'm not sure if this is his first rebuild with that boat thinking it has 1075's but cant remember, but if it was, the price to do it right was probably a little shocking. There are shady business owners, but there are shady customers also trying to do things for as cheap as possible thinking they will get the same product as if they spent the money to do it correctly
Yes.Is this the son of Steve who owned Savage Marine way back when?
Yes.
Yep and he worked for Tim McDonald. Probably learned how to do the shi!! he's done from Tim!Yes.
Her name was Kelly. She passed some time ago. I did work for Steve Sr. 30 some odd years ago when they were in Lake Elsinore and Jr. was just a baby, at least I think it was Jr.Wow. I remember him as a little guy around their shop. Had a sister as well. If I remember right his mom/dad used to pony up to sponser him in motorcross or maybe some off road stuff. He was involved in a pretty bad accident as a young teen but recovered.
Everything was there for him. Seems he took the left instead ofcthe right tirn in life.
What was the moms name? Stephanie or something like that?

WTF is with those huge deposits people leave??? Especially when they take months to complete the work. Is that an industry standard???
Wow I really guess you need to make sure you check out your mechanic shop firstAnything above basic service: 50% deposit or full cost of the parts up front, which ever is greater. Is the standard in my neck of the woods to schedule and/or begin work
A new engine or drive can add up pretty fast.

Ask AJ.1st, who is steven Lapraun?
2nd, what shop was the boat stolen out of?
3rd, I take it that's Clayton that owns the OL?
That's how I did it as wellI don't know about boat shops, big or small, but with cars I do work on I do a modified deal. If the parts are commonly used, or relatively inexpensive, I pay out front. Of course after asking the customer if the work is a go. Bigger items, such as superchargers, crate motors or transmissions, I ask for the owner to purchase. This is for two main reasons. First, they know what they order, and what it cost. The second reason is I don't want to be stuck holding the bag should they up and bail. Seen more than a few shops get hit when the vehicle owner was paying for upgrades on a car they quit paying on. Being out on my time/labor won't screw me too much. True, I don't get to mark up prices, but it also protects me a bit.
Why would a shop need the money for the parts up front, since he has posession of the Boat for Collateral?
3 reasons:
1: A deposite helps show proof of approval of work, should we ever need proof because there are "those customers"
2: It softens the bite of the cost of the repair work for the customer at the end
3: tying into #2, it helps to prevent/detour slow paying customers. This is especially important when the majority of boats being worked on are sitting on shop owned trailers or in shop owned boat slips, also in smaller shops with limited storage altogether. If your boat is tying up a trailer, slip, or slot; it means somebody else's cant be there.
In the event of a boat abandonment, the lein and title process can take months. Then you have to find a buyer.
Most definitely. Anytime you give money you earned to anyone, mechanic, contractor, etc., you are trusting them to do a job. The service provider is hopefully doing a job, tusting that the customer will pay them. There are shady shops, and shady customers.Well, after reading several of these "Cases" the Trust factor can swing both ways.

Tony passed away a number of years ago. Kelly was his daughter and married to Steve Sr. who owned Savage Marine. This Steve is their kid. What ever happened to Black Tony? If I remember correctly Kelly was his daughter and was married to Steve. I remember hanging out in the channel with him, he had a tree there dedicated to his son’s that tragically
died.

Yes, Kelly passed away a few years ago also....Steve Sr., Savage Marine was doing all my work starting 25 years ago. Steve could have his days, but I really liked the guy and Kelly was a wonderful person and one hell of a water skier.
Steve Jr. in later years was helping around the place, nice kid at the time. Met him again a some years ago when he was working out of the back shop at Horizon, possibly just renting space. But never conducted any business with him. I thought I'd read where Sr. was having some bad health, but then heard he was doing some work from home, been years, no idea now. Hope he's well, so sorry for him to learn what's going on with his kid. Did I read something bad happened to Kelly ? Been so many years since we've connected.
Wonder what the new agreement will be?
45 feetSo, what's the depth of Lake Havasu? Asking for a friend.

Former Havasu business owner must pay up before sentencing
A former Lake Havasu City business owner signed a new plea agreement with Mohave County prosecutors on Sept. 20. Stephen LeProhon, 32, was accused of perpetrating a Ponzi scheme thatwww.havasunews.com
I read it as $125k by Nov 5 to stay out of jail and he also has to pay a grand total of $395k to make everybody whole. Dunno. No one really cares about some “rich” guys and their boats.
Come up with $125k in a month and only 7 years probation.
OJ "had to pay" too.. and hasn't paid a dime. He will probably come up with the $125K to stay out of jail, and plead poverty on the rest.I read it as $125k by Nov 5 to stay out of jail and he also has to pay a grand total of $395k to make everybody whole. Dunno.
