The Cancel Culture is Strong in here today...

✊😁
I was thinking the same thing, when did the word "poor" trigger so many karens? It's an f-n old off road t-shirt, christ. I have an old t-shirt that is for a golf fund raiser and it says "retard" on it, not jokingly either, not appropriate for 2024, but "poor people" wtf

Protip: Anytime you tell someone to stop doing something, you're living the cancel culture lifestyle.

Most humor doesn’t have a good look.. lol. That’s what makes it funny is the absurdity of it

Oh the shirt is very real.. lol. I made like five of them and myself and the other can am owners would wear them when we’d go off-roading. lol

But I also own shirts that say

Fuck you you fucking fuck

Tacos are for Tuesdays beer is for everyday

I’m shy but I’ve got a big dick

Don’t be a dick

And a 100 other numerous sayings. I don’t get why joking with rzr owners and relating them to poor people would even slightly be offensive..

Haha. Wearing shirts like that doesnt appeal to me in the least.

I used to wear kind of provocative stuff but nothing like that. Mine were more low key motorcycle type stuff. Then I grew up...lol

What about kids being around?

Wear what you want and do you.

Lol. Wrong

You would wear a shirt talking about the size of your dick in front of kids?
I wear a "Dirty Dicks Crab Shack" and a "Try My Nuts" Nut Co. Outer Banks shirt everywhere, kids school, football practice, track practice.... I get lots of compliments

I have one that reads. "If you want to make a Conservative angry, lie to him. If you want to make a Liberal angry, tell him the truth." That has led to some spirited conversations.

I've had people offer to buy this from me more than once while I've been wearing it. I think I bought it back in the 90's.

The Speed Cars are making their way North. Taken today about 3:30pm at the border of Oregon and Washington. Car had Oregon ATV plate as did the truck and trailer. Obviously returning from the dunes.

Read that 9 of 17 speeds entered are out for various reasons. Also read Max DNF today (still confirming that one)

That’s not a good metric to use. In fact, it’s not a metric at all. It’s an insane feat to even finish the race.

Can Am and Polaris cars dropping like flies today as well. Kristen Matlock (factory Polaris) had a Polaris engineer riding shotgun with her and she dropped out today.

I don’t disagree that the issues SPEED has had during the race are concerning but your observation is way off.

There are more Polaris & Can Am’s out of the race vs Speed’s.

Not defending Speed as the cars are clearly showing CVT issues. This is a good thing as it’s not hidden and Speed gets to see allot of cars with different skill sets having mostly the same issues. I think early on it was thought maybe some issues were due to the customer.

And to clarify I think two Speeds are out of the event due to other circumstances. One had a medical emergency and withdrew. Not exactly sure of the other but it was said they had to leave the event and went home. Most of the “Race Rentals” are bucket list racers, and many have never raced, especially in Baja. Todd R did a pre race tutorial on Facebook live and some of the questions about the GPS showed they had never used one before.

Also many of the finishes or (Not Yet Finish (NYF) or DNF for that day are skewed. The Speed car that had the head on accident on day 1. Another Speed car stopped to help causing them a very late finish and a NYF on the day. Then the medical emergency for the Brown’s, it was said Todd R stayed with them until the ambulance left and a Speed Chase could come get the car. Robby & Todd have towed or brought parts to several teams on the course. Ron Attig lost the PS belt and drove until he lost the battery. Robby towed them in that night. Kyle Whitted lost an injector and was towed in. But in most cases they get a DNF for the day, but return for the next day. Kristen Matlock has had two DNF days. Fish had a DNF day for ripping the right front corner off the car.

Speeds issues are clearly CVT related. As far as I know no cars are out due to being wreaked and not reparable. Or blown engines.

Kyle Whitted said today there were sections of day 4 that he could have ran his Speed Diablo over 100mph but the clutch temps rose quickly. He had to back it down to 50-60 miles per hour max. He has yet to lose a belt, but said he’s running the car at 50% because of the CVT.

As of tonight is shows 6 Speeds have retired from the event, and 7 Polaris are retired from the event, and 11 Can Am’s are listed as retired.

How many Pro’s vs amateurs vs “I can do that” across all brands?
Go to an asphalt 1/2 mile oval and count the number of purpose built vehicles left at the end of a 100 mile race
No trees were involved.

I’d say most are experienced amateurs, as I only consider guys like Rob Mac, Larry Rossler, Menzies, Gordon’s as Pro’s.

Because you have to build your cars, I’d say most are knowledgeable & experienced. Where as the people signing up for the Speed UTV Arrive & Drive program are more likely to be the “I want to do that” racer. I would not be surprised if some of these bucket list racers have never been to Baja before. But it’s a great way to try and experience it. Many who tried the Wide Open Baja experience, buy or build a car and come back again.

It’s been brutal but typical rally racing. Tomorrow will be the day to watch with patched together cars going as hard as they can into Cabo.

There’s quite a few regional pros but I agree with you about the national guys like the Menzies & Gordon’s. It’s definitely one of the funnest races. It just costs a small fortune so sponsors are critical like anything else.

All racing costs a small fortune...

I'd imagine these long distance races cost Cubic dollars. Mere mortals need not apply! 🤣

The few thousand dollars to enter is the cheapest part. Hiring good mechanics, fuel for the chase vehicles, two chase vehicles loaded with tires and parts and tools, hotels/VRBO’s for the entire team, minimum of three meals a day for the team and then a big thank you celebration for the team in Cabo adds up real quick.

I’m thankful for our sponsors. They’re a critical component and my obligation is to make them look good in return.
