Soo anyway, back to Speed.
I'm assuming this is a stupid question but, Why is everything about Havasu delivery? What if you live in Florida, South Carolina, Montana...etc... and you purchased your car two years ago just like AZ guys and your in the top 100 #'s? It just sucks to be you? Honest question .

It sucks to be you in that situation. Youā€™d be paying extra for delivery to your location.

95% of the cars have been sold in the Southwestern US.

The only speed showroom at this time is the old Hastings building in havasu.

And thatā€™s not much to talk about.
He also stated his shop in OC will handle parties and parts and stuff. Donā€™t know if Iā€™d say havasu is the ā€œonlyā€ showroom.

They are looking at another facility in OC.

NAFTA says yes šŸ˜.
Being cat like curious, I spent a few minutes of my 'Golden Years' to look into this labeling crock-of-shit. This labeling act actually preceded NAFTA, and as such doesn't include Mexico.

This was born in 1992, when the US was having a trade shoving contest with Japan and the UAW was feeling the sting of the transplanted Japanese manufacturing plants on US soil. The Big Three wanted the labeling law and the inclusion of Canada as being American, due to their large cross-border manufacturing presence, so the label listing would favor them.

This article explaining this extremely confusing and convoluted labeling law (Or trying to), is from the LA Times 1994. I thought it was interesting in that it points out, that one American Car like a Geo Prism, and a Toyota Corolla, made on the same assembly line, same parts, with only the badging different, will favor the GEO on it's buy American label.

"The labeling law was born during the Buy American push in 1992, which began after President Bush and a delegation of the Big Three auto makers were rudely rebuffed in efforts to gain major trade concessions from Japan."

"The new law means auto makers must make three different domestic content calculations: one for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to comply with corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards; one for the U.S. Customs Service, used to set tariffs under the North America Free Trade Agreement, and one for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which oversees the labeling law."

"ā€œThe very title of the act is a misnomer,ā€ said Philip Hutchinson, president of the Assn. of International Automobile Manufacturers. ā€œYou will never know what the American content of a vehicle is from the law. Canada is now the 51st state,ā€ he said.ā€"

"(The labeling law preceded the passage of NAFTA, so Mexico--unlike Canada--is treated as a foreign country in determining domestic content, though that may change as the Mexican auto and parts market becomes more integrated with the U.S. industry.)"

speed has stated, they will have a few Speed Shops in AZ and CA and everything else will be via a dealership network. I think the issue is those cars purchased directly though speed and not a dealer, will not be delivered via the closest dealership.

There are plans for the rest of the US, but they realize their primary customers are in CA AZ NV UT, so that was the focus to launch the brand and not try to boil the ocean out of the gate.

Yeah there are some very strange legalities in most states about vehicle manufacturers selling direct to the consumer, Tesla has dealt with a lot of it.

At the very least you would probably need business licenses in every state for something like this? Would be a pain in the ass when the customer is most likely willing to just take delivery in AZ and save them the troubles

Sooooooo, summer is over, and everyoneā€™s busy buying parts, and shining their glamis toys, except the Speed car guys.

Halloween is two months awAy, and April fools is 8. šŸ˜

I think RDP needs to start a new ā€œSpeed 3ā€thread, as we roll into fall. šŸ˜‰

A bunch of Chinamen are polishing up our cars for the season.

Delegation works very effectively.

You seem to have answers for everything. Is this based off speculation or actual inside information from speed?

Are they really 60 days out for 873 & 874? I thought they were going to do a small run of 250ish first?
I think youā€™d see that car by December at this point. They have already made around 100 and counting. Pending any issues, it will only go quicker from here.

My friend is in the top 10 of orders and he is close with coyne and heā€™s saying 5 owner cars will be at the show and they are telling him sometime in October for his and heā€™s in the top 10 šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø Soooooo i think itā€™s safe to say NO ONE except Robbie himself knows when any of these cars will be available. Hopefully he has more than 5 owner cars at the show. He probably will have more cars there but not owner cars Sounds like

They are doing delivery events in Oct and November in Havasu. They have built at least 100 cars already.

They canā€™t do the deliveries at the show, for various reasons it sounds like. They are doing many deliveries at once over he course of several weeks in Havasu.

I have no clue now honestly. They said they wanted to get all 4k preorder cars out by then, I donā€™t see that happening. If they are cranking these out at 30-60 a day in 4-6 weeks though, you might be good for that delivery.

They are looking at locations for a dealer location in OC though.. so they arenā€™t going anywhere.

Honestly, it's been a week and a few days for them to be contacting the first 250 cars, and I'm #125 and was told, I'd be contacted in the weeks to come. I'm surprised these calls are taking this long to get out.

Getting cars in the #2K range seems like a stretch for 2022, but really, who actually knows how many parts they have in stock to build cars.

With the delivery date soon got to imagine these threads will take off once these things get in the in publicā€™s handsā€¦. An enterprising individual might do well to start a Speed Car forumā€¦. might be a good secondary or primary income in a couple of yearsā€¦ be first, bring content, stay relevantā€¦

Still gotta ask yourself, Why did the weekly video updates stop? Why now? Show production, show the "100" cars.
And send a few guys over to the Havasu building and start getting it ready, clean it up, hang a sign, get everyone excited, do something!

At best your delivery is going to be sometime in October, so still at least a month out, and they have to make sure the cars are gonna get wherever they are going.

There is not business reason for them to start building them unless they can get out a few hundred at a time at least. Doing this 10 cars at a time isnā€™t going to go on forever. It seems like itā€™s more of an order of operations and assembly engineering thing than a parts problem at this point.

Iā€™d agree 2k is a stretch for years end. I think even the first 1000 is a stretch for years end.. but that all depends when they start going full bore with production, if they have not already.

The marketing geniuses here said the weekly updates werenā€™t needed, and that Speed loses control of the narrative because of them. Now everyone wants an update :)

If they are delivering cars in October, those cars are now on a boat. There is probably not much to see.

The team is back in the states, I know RG has been for a week and a half and was in CA last week. They have been busy doing other stuff.
