Weird how no one has mentioned Covid in this thread.🤷‍♂️
I reluctantly tested after my younger two went down hard and we wanted to know what we were dealing with. Ended up being Flu A and RSV for my 2 year old and turned into pneumonia for me and my 6 year old.

Here goes. We had a house full over Thanksgiving. One of them went home coughing etc. When they got home, they tested positive for covid. We’re not anti vax, mostly due to our ages. We were last vaxed, Moderna, back in April 2022. We had no symptoms immediately after Thanksgiving. Read about it, and waited the recommended 5 days before testing for covid. When we did, we were each negative. All was good. Then my wife developed cold & flu like symptoms. I developed a considerable wet cough. Tested again for covid after 48 hrs and we were both positive. We’d avoided it for 4 years, but now it had found us. We each began Paxlovid. Not a cure, but advertised to lesson symptoms. Retail price for the 5 day course of Pax - $1,399. WTF! Fortunately our insurance covered it. At the advice of our Drs, we adjusted our other daily meds while taking the Pax. My wife was advised to stop all of her heart meds. I began taken a 1/2 dose of one of my BP meds. Wife did only 3 doses, day and 1/2 of the Pax. Began feeling dizzy and lethargic. 5 days after testing covid positive, we tested again. I was negative, wife was still positive. Took her BP, it was very low. Other than the rotten taste in my mouth from the Pax, I was coughing a bit, but doing OK. At the advice of her Dr, when my wife’s BP got down to 80/50 we headed to HRMC. That was our first bad experience at our Havasu hospital. It was on a Sunday. 6 1/2 hrs later, she was diagnosed with a UTI. When she called her Dr the next day, her Dr had all of the prior day’s HRMC testing in front of her. Her Dr said, you DO NOT have a UTI. Stop taking the antibiotics prescribed by HRMC and come in to see me in 2 days. She did. Dr did extensive tests. No UTI. All was good. Wife had restarted her heart meds 2 days after stopping the PAX. I don’t blame HRMC in total. I blame the lead med provider that day, an NP.

Typically we don’t get sick. Whatever that stuff was, it got our attention. Good news, we‘re both doing fine. Truthfully, I do have a mild lingering cough. After reading many CDC articles, I’m convinced they have more attorneys than doctors on their staff. Some suggest a re-vax which combats the new strains of covid. BUT, we’re advised to wait 3 months before getting another vax. Reason - our immune systems are currently effectively dealing with covid (???). Adding the vax to our immune systems at this time would/could be harmful. I got a big, giant W T F for the whole CDC operation. Stay healthy, take care, visit and listen to a Dr or NP who you trust.

The dealing with meds and then other medications is tricky. As you said, you really have to trust the provider. My BP meds are a set of "do not mix" and my wife's is another and my son's yet another. Over the past few years I've become really good at reading the entire paper they give you with meds.

I think kind of what saved me was I felt it coming early on and started taking zinc, emergency, d3, mucinex, day quil, and NAC. As soon as I woke up with a sore throat I started. Wife procrastinated and she's dealing with it worse than I am even though she's getting better, but not as fast.
Whats NAC?

First morning in a week I could take a deep breath. Chest stop pounding and inside my nose doesn’t feel like a triskit cracker.

Just came down with a nasty cold last night. My wife had it a few weeks ago but I didn't catch it and thought I was GTG. Not so, I went to help Mom just before Christmas and was unaware she had a cold. Thanks Ma. 🤧

That's how I did it. Last Saturday afternoon I started with a sore throat and within 2hrs I was on my above post of meds, Saturday night was brutal with my sore throat but by Sunday night my throat was just scratchy.
Fuck I have a sore throat today. Once I’m home gonna start with the drugs. Maybe a medicine ball from Starbucks also
