I looked that up, and read the settings, he was shooting as fast as the camera can shoot, to see an actual bullet he is way too slow. but to see the debris, it might be possible, but the media has made up their mind, science is moot at this point,

It's the bullet picture man, can't you see it???????

See post 885.. probably wasn’t the bullet but ear matter and blood behind it.

Yes..

He knows god damn well the bulk of his customers for that particular product are conservative but won’t actually come out for it because he doesn’t want to deal with any backlash..

Fucking pansy / panzi.. gay AF whatever ya want to call it.

I wouldn’t buy one after watching that shif.. either take a stand or don’t.. but don’t give a dialogue about how you don’t stand for anything but are sorry..

That is pansi..

My main point about the bullet photo is the photo itself is legit. I thought for sure it was a fake/photochopped. I'm sure if the photo is considered for a Pulitzer, its authenticity will be verified. I call it the "bullet" pic out of convenience, not because I profess to know what is depicted in the pic.....because I don't.

Gotcha thanks for the explanation, haven't heard that since grade school took me a minute 😁

Wait are you asking if that’s me in the video?
Negative. I thought I copied the first post in the infamous cart return thread rather than that mid thread reply of yours.

Chalk it up to me over indulging on the boat after work in the 96 degree and 95% humidity Monday here.🙃

Not sure if it’s relevant in this instance but I’ve seen lots of hunting videos in the past where the camera was behind the shooter/hunter filming very long range shots on elk. Vapor trails or something of that nature from the bullet are often clearly visible on the video. These are loads that exceed 3200 fps.

After all the talking heads referring to Trump as a dictator, gonna get even, destroy democarcy .....and almost any type of pandering to the gullible public.
I doubt once back in office he will not forget this past Saturday. Playing nice will not be on the agenda.

I have no idea, but it may be the shockwave that is seen. Kind of like videos of fighter jets approaching Mach, but smaller and faster?

That building was local LEO staging area and that's why I think SS hesitated thinking the shooter was LEO until he took the shot, I think the shooter had help from someone in the local LEO.

not sure he had help, but I think he knew the building was going to be used as staging.
also explains why the ladder was on the building.

my question = Why was their zero PD/SS on top of that building doing crowd monitoring

Our friend that died on scene was Corey. I've been texting with his 2 older sisters to see if there is anything we can do to help & offer our condolences. I don't do facefuk but my niece found this.
This has rocked a small rural community & was 100% preventable has secret service done their job properly. Many lives & families will never be the same. Very sad

I'm not following this event as closely as some of you, but all I have to say is if this was a real assassination attempt the way that it's being reported at President Trump and SS missed a young man on a nearby roof with a rifle it is a MAJOR failure of epic proportions, I would say it's almost impossible.. It's more believable that this was planned by you know who, and I'm the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist.

IDK man, she looks like she’s spent enough time in the kitchen. I mean, don’t fire her. With that girth, she could stop a .50BMG.
I see this picture going around... looks like she is wearing a bullet proof vest...

According to our amateur calculations here at the range this morning, the “bullet picture” figures out at 2.5’ of travel in 1/8000 of a second.
At 8000 frames per second that is EASILY captured.
I believe he said the previous frame and the following frame showed no activity.
He said he was holding the button down like we used to do with our autowinders.
It’s more than possible for that image to be legit.
Is our math correct at 3200 FPS?
Discussion?

I don't question the shutter speed, but I do question 8000 FPS (frames per second) from that still camera.
I think that # is wrong.

EDIT
His camera shoots 30 frames per second.

Sure, but only by 2 orders of magnitude.
Mills was using a camera that can take images at up to 30 frames per second. He reportedly took the photos of the bullet flying by with a shutter speed of 1/8,000 of a second, which is incredibly fast.

“Most cameras used to capture images of bullets in flight are using extremely high-speed specialty cameras not normally utilized for regular photography, so catching a bullet on a side trajectory as seen in that photo would be a one-in-a-million shot and nearly impossible to catch even if one knew the bullet was coming,” Harrigan told the Times.

This is from A NY times interview.

I believe it a real photo, and that it caught Trumps ear in the air Like others have said

Factory 55 grain ammo probably not 3200fps. Most likely in the 2900-3000 range….these numbers are Muzzle Velocity. These number decrease dramatically after exiting the muzzle and probably begin to go subsonic after 300-400 yards. Im sure someone on here has better dope than I with the 223 round…not really in my wheelhouse.

At 200 yards a factory 55g projectile is about 2800fps
At 400 yards its about 2500fps

I think it’s authentic too, I think the photo is of the vapor trail.

The issue with a shutter speed that fast is getting enough light to make the image. Either a more sensitive CCD (expensive) raise the ISO (lowers resolution) or bigger objective lenses (heavy, big and expensive) or a combination of those to get a usable image. There’s only so much you can do in post before it becomes artwork.

My mistake.
But that still captures the same amount of travel correct?

It seems to me they had the guy made but their rules of engagement probably limited them engaging until he fired or proved he was a threat.

I would assume they had guys on foot working towards him as it sounds like they were on the roof pretty quick.

No doubt a miss on the part of SS and local police but I don’t think you can shoot everyone with a gun writhing 1000yds of a former president either. A fine line they fell on the wrong side of this time.

At a minimum, if they saw a guy with a gun and were not cleared to fire - The SS should have tackled and surrounded Trump to protect him. That is their job. No one moved until after shots rang out. So either they hadn't spotted it yet (appears unlikely), had a huge breakdown in communication and procedure, or someone was in on it.

Am I Monday morning QBing it? Absolutely....Guy has a gun, on a roof that isn't LEO at speech by an Ex-Pres that is currently seeking another term - It is a threat regardless...

Well, if the bullet is moving at 3,000 FPS and the shutter is open for .000125 seconds, the question is how far did the bullet move in that time? I’m going to have to ask my kid, he’s a math major at UCR but I think it would be .375”

I’d have to look at the photo again but I think we are seeing a vapor trail

With all that moving around, I’m amazed he hit his target. Looks like an AR10, probably .308 there’s not that much recoil.

Do you think he’s saying it was a Trump publicity stunt? SMFH, it’s hard to believe people actually believe that’s even possible.
No, not at all. There are far out conspiracies, like "Birds aren't real". Then there are others, like "Covid came from a lab". Some "conspiracies" become truths.

Well yes, a flat roof would allow for a recliner and an ice chest...
Could you imagine if it were Ms. Snickers on sniper watch?

I don’t think he or the other guy in the video actually pulled the trigger.. I think it was another SS agent elsewhere?

The closest guy is all over the place.. the second guy looks like he starts backing down the roof as soon as shots were fired.

This makes me wonder if the 20 year old fired the shots, or was someone inside the building the actual shooter. Kinda like the Lee Harvey and grassy knoll. Somewhat same trajectory. Makes you wonder.
Any real shooter with training wouldn't have missed I don't think?
