The greatest ever? 51 home-runs and 51 stolen bases.
Regular season ends next Sunday. They clinched a playoff berth. Still need to win the division before they start resting him.Who?
Jk. What a tremendous feat.
How many games left.
Any chance for. 60/60. ?
Different take for sure. I can understand not being excited about the player but the feat of hitting 50 HR and 50 stolen bases for the first time is pretty dam exciting for the game of baseball.I dunno. To me just not exciting I would think my kids would like him but nope not even in the conversation

Maybe… but the game isn’t the same anymore. Big bases, pitch clock, limited pick offs, etc… I’m on a baseball field 6 or 7 days a week. I love the gameBaseball is all about statistics. My dad used to listen to the radio, keep score and keep track of players stats. I don’t think I could keep score and I’ve been watching my whole life. I don’t mean keep score like it’s 3 to 2. This is before you could Google something. When someone sets a record that’s never been accomplished in 120 years, it’s pretty amazing.
I hear ya Vic. My middle grandson is a stats junkie and loves sports. He has never been impressed with him. I sent him the box score and he said he saw it. I asked if he was still unimpressed. He said yes as no player is worth that kind of money. There is something about Ohtani that he as a teenager doesn't connect with. He was that way towards him BEFORE he signed the big contract.I dunno. To me just not exciting I would think my kids would like him but nope not even in the conversation

Injuries like crazy.I know this is off-topic, but whatever happened to Mike Trout? Seemed like when he was on a heater for a few years, everybody was saying he was the greatest of all time and now it’s the Otani guy and nobody remembers Trout. And yes, I realize that Trout isn’t also a pitcher.
Possible but I think his average is around 1 HR every 10 or 11 at bats so night be a stretch unless he crazy.Am I the only one who is thinking with 9 games left let’s put more coals on and go for 60-60?
Unreal game tonight 6-6 with 10 RBI.
No.....he isn't like that at all. He always thought lesser of Trout as well.....said he is overpaid as he is always injured. For some reason it just isn't happening for my grandson and after Vics post it seems his kids are the same way towards him.Is it because he’s Asian? I know nothing about baseball but I remember everyone loving Mike Trout a few years back.
Hard for an American to fall in love with a player that speaks no English.
I'm wondering part of it for some is he's a Dodger. I'm a blue fan and have been since I could talk but even with a huge fan base many hate them and now that he's a Dodger I'm guessing some just don't like him?No.....he isn't like that at all. The stats and so forth are undeniable though. Othani is an unbelievable talent.
He is a Giants fan first and foremost but attended a lot of Angels games over the years as I had great season tix. He felt the same way about him while he was on the Angels. Just never bought in to it.....I'm wondering part of it for some is he's a Dodger. Vic did have a point about the larger bases and pitch clock, of course that bumps up his stolen base count from what it would have been a few years back. It's still an insane accomplishment.
Definitely interesting but that's what free wills about, sounds like a good kid making up his own mind, minus the Giants part lol.He is a Giants fan first and foremost but attended a lot of Angels games over the years as I had great season tix. He does hate the LADs as he is a good kid......lol
haha....True Minus the last partDefinitely interesting but that's what free wills about, sounds like a good kid making up his own mind, minus the Giants part lol.

Yea he just doesn’t excite my boys. We’ve seen him play a few times and it’s always been nothing but strike outs. My sons a giants fan but he gets excited by Bailey, Tatis, de la Cruz. I guess you don’t remember Fernando Valenzuela.
Ya hes K rate and Batting average are way up, better coaching and not having to pitch he is really showing what he is capable of at the plate and the bases. He for sure is not a flashy as any of the guys mentioned, hes seems like a humble dude, but man when he connects and it happens often is pretty dam entertaining seeing him hit balls in places that shouldn't happen. But for sure everyone has their own options so more power to you guys, their are 30 teams and a ton of guys per team to root for. Glad to see you and you fam involved in the game and making memories. Regardless of how entertaining I think or you don't think any of this is, I know there is one thing that we will 100% agree on, seeing your kid or even a niece or nephew on the diamond is way more entertaining and exciting!Yea he just doesn’t excite my boys. Ohtani understands and speaks English and Spanish pretty good. He just doesn’t do it in interviews. Is it because he’s Asian? I know nothing about baseball but I remember everyone loving Mike Trout a few years back.

Honestly I think kike Hernandez is a lot of fun to watch. Mic’d up playing short is epicYa hes K rate and Batting average are way up, better coaching and not having to pitch he is really showing what he is capable of at the plate and the bases. I did see De La Cruz live against the dodgers and he was something else, seeing him turn what looked like a long single into a triple looked unreal.
Kike is a fucking riot! I was really happy to see his plate performance get a BIG boost after getting the new glasses. He was definitely sub-par prior to that.Honestly I think kike Hernandez is a lot of fun to watch. Mic’d up playing short is epic
Before my time but I was there at the ceremony when they retired his jersey.
What makes Otani less exciting than Valenzuela then?
Eppei is waiting for his trial date. What ever happened to the guy who ripped him off, they put that story on the back burner quick.
I remember the days of bonds getting walked and not given the opportunity. Bases were also further apart and it wasn’t a free steal after two pick off attemptsOne of the home runs was off a 68 mph fastball. I don't Ohtani was the only one wanting to see the new record.
