One of the home runs was off a 68 mph fastball. I don't Ohtani was the only one wanting to see the new record.
That was #51 during garbage time. The game was already 14-3 in the 9th inning.

His 51st home run came off a infielder that was brought in to pitch due to the blowout that threw the 68mph pitch

True we noticed that too. We took it as to not look like they were intentionally walking him,, they pitched around him and he's that good.

I feel for the poor fan in the outfield that missed the ball. I would have dove for that fuker as it's gotta be worth $2-3M.

I remember the days of bonds getting walked and not given the opportunity. Bases were also further apart and it wasn’t a free steal after two pick off attempts
But he was juiced out of his mind too lol. I gotta handed it to Skip Schumaker, he had a chance to walk him and said "f that", said the baseball gods/karma would not allow it.

Shoehei is a freak, no question. However, you can’t pitch around him like you could with Bonds.
People have tried a couple times and Mookie makes them pay for it.

The days of Bonds and the other steroid freaks were entertaining as hell, now they cleaned that, or at least it seems like it so they changed other things to try and keep it entertaining like bigger bases, pitch clocks, limiting pick offs, removing the shift. I dont agree with all of them but I do understand the logic and reasoning behind it. And yes it definitely put Sho in the position to steal 50 plus bases, with out some of those changes we may not have ever seen anyone go for 50/50.

Something said literally every year by thousands of angels fans…. Ugh
It's so bad lol. I have buddy who throws a giant tail gate around the season opener every year, buys out a section in left field, well they called him last month and told him you can have free tickets to any game you want expect the Dodgers, he asked how many he could have and they just tell us a number, he said "I don't know, like 300 or something". They sent him 300 free tickets the next hour.

Is it because he’s Asian? I know nothing about baseball but I remember everyone loving Mike Trout a few years back.

Hard for an American to fall in love with a player that speaks no English.
Not everyone. Guess I’m one of the few that didn’t watch and still haven’t watched a Mike trout game.

Ohtani is definitely reminiscent of Fernandomania back in the day. I went to a Dodger game a couple of months ago. I was so surprised how much the demographics of the fans has shifted. I always sit in box field level seats and for so long it’s always been mostly Hispanic fans. This time there were so many Asian fans, shockingly so. Also, the menu had been update with all kinds of Asian cuisine. He has had a huge impact already in his first year. Oh, saw so many people rocking number 17 jerseys too. I think the Dodgers are thinking 700 mil is worth it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I quit watching. I don’t think there is any way they can win as long as he is the owner. He needs to hire baseball people and let them do their jobs, hold them accountable and stay out of it.

The list of bad contracts under his watch is ridiculous. Dipoto seems to be doing pretty well in Seattle.

It was like that in Anaheim too...even some of the advertisements were Japanese, it was awesome...

If you don’t think Shohei is exciting you’re missing the mark and misunderstanding the game of baseball. Dude is on a different level.

The days of steroids like Bonds (whose head grows two sizes in a couple years?), McGwire and Sosa are gone.

We’re watching the modern day Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, Ted Williams, etc…

Go see him play so you can tell your grandkids you saw him live…

The Asian ladies seem to love him. There was a group of 6 ladies at the gym I go to here in dbar with his jersey on taking group photos of themselves around the gym equip.
I now understand the significance of that.
Remarkable accomplishment for man. It's good people have something else to be excited about in their lives these days.

I have two son's who play baseball one at a JC and one a Senior in high school, what I get from them is that they realize he is larger than life once in a lifetime type player. That being said, he is not exciting outside of his abilities. He is as they say Boring, he doesn't showboat, he is super respectful of other players , umpires, etc. I think this generation is enamored by the players who are very animated on the field, bat flips, talking shit etc. Its unfortunate but the reality is like almost everything else in society, respect and professionalism are not what draws the crowd.

The combination of speed and power is always an interesting metric, and Ohtani will probably go down as the greatest player ever in that metric. But the GOAT??? Nope, at least not yet. He’s not even the best hitter in the game right NOW, with the added bonus of being a DH all year. Not putting him down by any means, he’s amazing.

Best defensive third baseman in the league.
Little respect for a player that won't even try to leg out a ground ball and then has an attitude about when asked and continues the practice. Bad example to young players.
Haven’t they won the division 5 times and the NL Pennant twice.? No WS though.
And what have they done in the last 20 years? Just 2 of those division wins.

What have the Doyers did with their 11 division wins. Oh yeah, they won the “Covid WS*”. 🙄

Fuck Artie Moreno.
All that freaking effort into this guy who refuses to speak English (he knows more English then one might think), pay him through his injuries, and celebrate him just like Trout.

First opportunity.....Dodgers. Their a top team in Japan if not number 1. Likely answered prayer as he will be a legend over there. He's a lucky and talented individual.

The Dodgers have not won a real WS since 1988 and have had one of the biggest payrolls in the league year after year. They spent a billion dollars this past season and the division was a tossup until the last week of the season all while the Padres cut 100 million in payroll. Dodgers have not done shit in 35 years!

Hate the Dodgers all you want, but they’ve accomplished way more than the shitty Padres ever have or ever will. It ain’t even close.

Lakers - Clippers = Dodgers - Padres.

X2 Mel. Fuck the Doyers
Fuck your Dbacks- Couldn't even make the playoffs. As a Dodger fan, I want Joc Pederson back though...

GO DODGERS!

PlanB- As Dodger fan, I agree. I could care less that we have won 11 of the last 12 division titles. You play to win championships. The Padres worry me and I wish the Dodgers had a little bit of fuck you attitude the Padres have. Machado and Tatis are legit, your pitching staff is better than ours... Everyone on the Dodgers is injured.

I thought River Ryan was going to be a bright spot, nope, goes down with Tommy John.

Should be a great series, with that being said, fuck everyone else and the PAdres! GO DODGERS!

Looks like we lost Musgrove for the rest of the season and maybe next season as well if he needs TJ surgery. That's a big blow to our rotation but should be a good series.

I bleed blue and always have. WS titles or not, it's ridiculous to think of them as a shitty team that has not accomplished anything. I have not been of Fan Roberts management style in the playoffs, with the gutted pitching staff this year it will get interesting to see what crazy stuff he pulls this season.

All that said, I don't like the padres, I don't like Machado or Tatis, but they are insanely good. I do like a handful of their players. I am just not into the Fu** your team or Fu*** that team stuff, we need teams to like and not like or it wouldn't be exciting to watch anymore. What the padres have turned there organization into over the last few seasons is legit, like them or not. I am hoping for a great series and pulling out the win, but it could go either way. If Yamamto and Flaherty can pull of solid starts and go about 6 innings then we are set up well to pull it out, if they flop and go to the bull pen early its going to get ugly fast after the first 2 games, the BP is very good but they will be needed most likely heavily in game 3 or 4 so if we go to them early on in game 1 and 2 they will be taxed. Will see how it goes.

Fu** the Astros though lol. They earned the F bomb.
