Had a guy present a boat builder with a similar contract.
Reputable builder.
As the I's were dotted and T's crossed on the sales contract, and delivery date written the customer whips out his own contract!
$1,000 per day owed to customer past delivery date on the sales contract.

The sales guy, not being his first trip around the block didn't say no.
He said give me a minute.

Comes back with his own contract freshly typed out.
Basicly the same contract, only names reversed.
For every day BEFORE the delivery date the boat is done, the customer owes the shop an extra $1,000:cool:

The customer started to get huffy.
But was reigned in quickly, the extra contract was his idea after all:)

They decided no other contracts were needed beyond the original sales contract.

And was a good thing for the customer!
I was told if the customer signed that contract they would have postponed all other work, and assign every single person in the shop to finish that boat a couple weeks early:cool::cool:
and an extra 14-15K:cool:

Im thinking eliminator and nordic could pull it off and make some extra $$$ !!!

Nice to hear the other side of the stories. Still going to come down to a he said - she said deal but I think we all appreciate hearing from Joe on this.

I think the bottom line is to have an iron clad contract and stick to it. If a deposit is required then no work should be done or any parts purchased until 100% of the deposit is paid.

Progress payments should be made upon the completion of milestones as stipulated in the contract. If delays are incurred due to failure of suppliers to deliver then adjustments should be made. Buyers need to understand that it actually costs a builder money to have a boat sit in his facility. It ties up floor space and reduces inventory turns. The quicker the boat is out the door the quicker the builder can start on another project and make money. Most builders don't want projects sitting around their shop taking up work room.

When I build cars I invoice weekly for the work done. If the customer can't pay me for what I have done that week, I stop work. If another week goes by I'm going to inform the customer I am starting storage charges unless he can pay up. Then the car will get relocated to one of my outbuildings and sit until I decide I'm going to lien it!

Desert Storm is coming up. A smart investor would get in on TAP now.

I bet they could walk into the street fair and pick up any boat they want for cash! :D It's all about the pork these days.

I’m not sure if you have a reading comprehension problem or what.. I am not Joe. I did not speak on his behalf.. A build went sideways and you were made whole (that’s an actual term by the way).

You are saying buyer beware because he gave you your money back. It doesn’t seem to make any sense to me or Enen or anyone else?

Here’s your proof that I’m not Joe by the way. :)

You might notice the name on the shirt and the logo on the hat match the name of the website which also correlated to the screen name I’m posting with. That’s how I do business buddy.. lol. Feel free to go and tell the world buyer beware because I didn’t give you a refund for posting on here. :D

Best post ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks RD busted out laughing at that one!

How much money can a guy make rehabbing shitty late 70's and early 80's crappy 650's motorcycles? Aren't the Antifa weirdos the only type that would like those things? I've know a bunch of people in the motorcycle industry and I don't think even the guys that owned huge dealerships could swing a $150k boat...at least they wouldn't if they could.

So you have lineman named Peter Piper Pecker and a guy that rehabs shitty little feminine motorcycles buying big buck boats? Am I the only one that sees shit shows? To be honest, I am bummed. I would have loved to pick those boats up at the repo auction. The lines of the RPM and their ability are top notch.

For sure not the only one who thought the same thing. Esp since the pole jockey bought an older cheaper boat right after. Why can't it just be admitted that those are big dollar pieces of equipment that take high amounts to not only build but transport, maintain and operate. That dudes motorcycle shop looks raggedy and there's no way he's making a killing. I rode down in Orange County Newport Beach and all up the coast last summer since moving down here and guess how many of those bikes I saw. Zero.

  • Buyer talks to RPM about building boat and draws up contract.
  • Gets killer deal 100k off from boat show
  • Tells all the buddies getting sick boat
  • Comes up with elaborate plan on financing said boat. Selling current one etc.
  • Agreed on down payment of 45k to start build.
  • Delivers two amounts totaling 27.5k.
  • Hull is popped but work stops.
  • Builder says he needs more money or check will bounce
  • Buyer starts accusing of mismanaged money, mean texts and cuss words.
  • Buyer goes to riverwhips starts first post and attempts to use humiliation to get out of contract.
  • Thread ignites and is locked then deleted
  • Thread shows up on RDP and gains momentum
  • A wild supporter of the buyer shows himself. Also bad mouthing RPM even tho his "damages" were restored.
  • Thread goes back up on riverwhips and reignites for 24 hours. Contracts are shown and words are thrown around. Buyer gets schooled by many people on how he's being immature. And breaching a contract.
  • Speculation about Byers financial health and ability to finance boat are in question.
  • Post deleted at 10am pst.
  • Wild supporter is outnumbered in his habitat therefore reacting aggressively.
  • RD posts middle finger pic.
  • Thread becomes thread of the year
  • RPM boats responds and clears the mystery about Buyer #1 shenanigans.
  • RPM produces yelp page which has been seen by others with complaints similar to the ones buyer #2 accused RPM of doing. Buyer #2 apparently curses out people that do business with him and he doesn't complete things in a timely manner.
  • Now we wait.

Thank you sir.

Lineman actually make some pretty good money. I did a loan for a Lineman that worked for Edison and he was pulling down $250K / year. Motorcycle boy was definitely in over his head.

I was gone for a c
I am not crying, just making facts about my experience with a used car salesman named Joe Malich. I don’t want to see any other people get screwed! I moved on, bought another boat and living the dream!

Not sure I'd have to sift back thru tons of comments. It was said either in this post or Riverwhips part 2. A lot of action happened between 6pm-11.

Kachina's are the best boat ever built and they have the classiest paint jobs.

I'm bringing my 50' boat to Parker, fuck you guys with your little boats!

Roll bar boats with full tanks should be allowed to run through the channel at speed.

I love PWC's!

(there, how's that?!?:eek::p)

I could make a mill a year and I don't think a $150k boat is affordable, but I changed my philosophy about money. Sold the Daytona and Youngblood and will be rolling a $10k day cruiser until I have about 15 houses and my primary paid off. Then I can get a $20k boat! Haha.

I'm retired and everything i own is paid off and I'm selling my 32' boat and going to get a $5K "dock knocker" that I don't care about. Less expensive shit = less worries and better times.
