Again, it states 2 prior CONVICTIONS. I'm glad to be wrong here, however you didn't address the one CRITICAL component....someone has to press charges. Take any drug addict on the street, they are violating a dozen laws on the books ranging from deficating in public, loitering, under the influence in public, trespassing, possession, the list goes on and on. Why are they not arrested or even cited? Because nobody presses charges. I would agree there will be a few jurisdictions with conservative police chiefs and DA's that will use the new law to finally prosecute some people, but I guarantee in most cities you will still be able to fill up your shopping cart and walk out the door untouched. Hell, Home Depot and Walmart fire people for even trying to stop thieves. I guess P36 is a good start, but with the current CA political climate, I still doubt it will even move the needle.

That’s the way it was under 666 pc. Worked EXTREMELY well. It’s a fantastic tool to hold prolific offenders accountable and sentence them to 3 years instead of 90 days (or letting them out time served after being released OR / no bail) And NEVER having the opportunity to charge for a felony when they keep it under 950 the way it is under prop 47. In the past the cop could actually charge for felony 666 for even a petty theft (3rd) instead of ANOTHER misd petty theft. It’s a fantastic start to righting this fucked up ca legal system.

By the way Fox is calling Trump wins 47!
