Murphy found a big stick in the backyard. Should keep him occupied for awhile:

made me tear up............🥲🥲🥲
I was telling my wife on a hike this weekend while watching my pups slow down that if I had 3 wishes, one of them would be to reset the clock on our dogs and have them live as long as us. At 9 and almost 12 they can still get some miles in, but it’s not like it used to be. No packs and only 5-10 miles/day.

When growing up I always wanted a dog, my family were not pet people. My mother used to say when you buy your first house, I'll buy you any dog you want.
Well forty some odd years ago we got Harley, best dog I ever had (pre kids). We've had serveral pets along the way while raising a beutiful family.
I'm very excited with the new guy, I feel with the kids all grown up and on their own, the timing is perfect.
We've only had him a week and he is a little shit....love the guy to death... I always said "the more time you spend, the better"

can't think of a better time to have a bad ass on your side

Now that we have a few trips under our belts this dog is psycho and LOVES the water. We have to hide her toys so she’ll take a break. She’s like the energizer bunny on steroids lol!

They are in jail tonight. Tuco hurt his leg so I put them both in the x pen. Hopefully Tuco isn’t seriously hurt. View attachment 1438293 View attachment 1438294
Hopefully nothing serious and the pups feels better quickly. Great looking pups by the way.

My pup Phx has a broken dew claw and has been messing with it for a few days. She gets a shot today at the vet and I will have them take a look at it. Pups are resilient and sometimes just need some down time like you are doing

Tuco is good. Still has a slight limp. The vet checked him out today and all is good.
I think Tuco is a bit of a drama queen. LOL

I have really wanted to get a second Aussie. I have a 5 y/o blue merle. She's not crazy about other dogs. She has these little lab buddies she fricking loves but other than that, not a fan. Just wants to hang with humans. She's not aggressive in the slightest, but will get territorial about the motorhome, food, toys. I'm sure you just have to get through the early puppy days.

Yeah these guys are pretty close and not really into other dogs. They've been together since they were pups. They are very specific about their people too.

Well - this day came way too soon! Luna 2018-2024, had to be put down this past Sunday around 8:00pm.

We picked this dog up from a shelter in late 2019 (rescue situation) and spent a ton of time and money rehabbing her into a part of our family.

Was just getting home from CAL Saturday night, picked her up from boarding, and had to rush her to emergency vet 6 hours later around 12:30a Sat night / Sun morning. Her stomach had turned over, emergency surgery, etc. Short version is she made is through the surgery, but ended up with other complications about 18 hours later.

Had a lot of stuff going wrong, and it just didn't seem fair to let her suffer anymore. She was a big part of our lives, and we are a bit of a mess over it. We don't have kids, so she was our third wheel, my wife's companion everyday while working in her office alone - and my sidekick when she would travel for work or in CAL for weeks at a time. This shit will tear you up inside! GodSpeed Luna..... you were the best....

My wife is a vet and in the back of her monthly magazine Dr Miller did a column. Always interesting and in one he just lost his dog and he based the article on how short of a life dogs have. He stated if we stopped breeding dogs for all of the various traits such as color, ears, coat, size ect but focused on how long they live.
We would probably have dogs living 25-30 years vs 10-15. I am in my mid sixties and have out lived way too many dogs!

Yes it is. About 10 months 100lbs as of now.

Kids are in the backyard picking up pieces of a book.

Thanks for the reply. Great looking pup! It's too early for us now for another, but we really enjoyed our mastiff mix. She wasn't full bred (see above) - best I can tell she was Mastiff (Cane Corso) & Great Dane mix.

She was a lanky one at 80lbs - abused by prior owners - but sweet as pie and needed to be next to my wife or me, always. GREAT guard dogs! She admittedly wasn't the best around kids and grown men - perfectly fine once you were inside the pack.
